Eddie. No question. I grew up on David's but Eddie took it to another level. Motown for life. RIP to both men. Fun fact: David's aunt was Fontella Bass, who did the 60s hit Rescue Me.
BOTH are great, no comparing! David, my friend, brother, fellow St. Louisan and powerhouse vocalist! I knew his famous mother Martha Bass Peaston, his sister Fontella Bass(Rescue me). Love Eddie's version the best! Love David's interpretation as well. (pull up Martha Bass on You Tube-I'm So Grateful)
THIS IS MY FIRST TIME HEARING EDDIE'S VERSION!! WOW!!!!!! REMEMBER DAVID'S!!!! BUT I MUST SAY!!! FOR ME!!!!! EDDIE ALL DAY EVERY!!!! LUV! LUV! LUV! LUV!!! WHY YOU TAKES SO LONG TO COME TO ME!!!!
Same here, never paid attention to Eddie's version til now and was blown away! Mad that I passed on the song for so long! OMG, Thin Man is so Unsung! I feel like were robbed of our legends too soon! RIP to both Kings!
This is my first time hearing Mr. Eddie Kendrick’s version, and I love it. David Peaston’s version is the one that I know, so it’s hard for me to chose. I love them both. 🙂
Peaston did a very nice one based on Eddie's original but I give it to Eddie's soft and impassioned version. We shouldn't compare versions because the latest version always has the original version to work from. Nice job by Peaston but ... Eddie K all day! 🔊
David was clearly influenced by Eddie however the inspirer can never be overtaken by the inspiree. Eddie's version not only being the original, is more soulful. Eddie's version just makes you want to grab your woman & give her what she's been BEGGIN' FOR FROM YOU, ALL THIS TIME, (if you don't know what that is, TURN IN YOUR PLAYER'S CARD)!!! The scat from David doesn't work for me. David turned in a nice performance, but Eddie KEEPS ON TRUCKIN' WITH THIS ONE!!! EDDIE WINS!!! reelblack, you should've known better baby...LOL!!!
Wow, no doubt about it, these two singers had terrific talents and blessed us with beautiful music. So far as this cover is concerned, I have to give it to Mr. Peaston. He had an impeccable vocal range that was incomparable. This is one of my favorites by him. Sadly, both these musical giants died too soon. Peace and Blessings!!!
David did it with all he had, not bad, I grew up with the Temptations. But, EDDIE Kendricks was Blessed with a Voice and confidence in a Voice he could sing anything, He Chose 🎤🎧⭐ RIP Corn 🌹Your the MAN!!
David was my boy great guy and I heard his version first although I knew it was a remake. Vocally both kill it but the original track is special. So Eddie takes this one.
Vocally I think both are great. Eddie is loving making on a rainy night. David's is Saturday night loung with a shot of cognac. At least that's what I feel.
Eddie stir up emotions singing this tune. His soulful falsetto and rap touches your most inner thoughts. Although I like David's voice and style....but its Eddie...he's the best.
I LOVE THE SONG! ❤ Eddie Kendricks version from my childhood and David Peaston’s remake was as a young adult. Different seasons but the SONG has the same affect/effect ❤
Eddie Kendricks laid a great foundation, but David Peaston perfected this song. He took it to another level and made it his own. And whoever arranged the newer version was brilliant.
oh come on. This is one I thought for sure was originally david's song. But i'm staying with david peaston. His shit is next level in singing, performance, and arrangement. This is HIS song, much like how Luther made others songs HIS.
Both of them are Legends of the soul ballads! They had their own style! Eddie had that unmatchable falsetto! And David had the range! It'll be hard to find the musical talent that these two had!
Eddie wins on smoothness and straight up falsetto. David sung with a mixture of falsetto, natural voice, power, more music and churched it up. If it where a gospel song David cooked it
I loved Eddies version which seemed like a love ballad and performed as such. David’s version was excellent to showcase a new talent and his excellent vocal range.
there are some people who should leave well enough alone, but when it comes to this song, BOTH guys sang this song very well for the time they recorded it, Eddie had that 70's flavor and David's 89 version, made it a song that warmed you up and took you to another level by the end. I love me some Eddie K, but David P got my vote on this one.
Eddie Eddie Eddie ... I like Dave but Eddie's version sounds like he is trying to impart the feelings of the lyrics to the listener, while dave sounds like he is showing off at the office karaoke
The David recording is definitely more crisp and adds that Extra something special. I am a true fan of the Piano so I gravitate to that alone because of the jazzy sound only a piano can bring. Both are Excellent Work!!❤❤❤
Why even compare? Two very different times period and individuals. Just appreciate the music and the artists' talents. Eddie K. is a legend and forever a Temptations.
@@1talldaddy Hi, can you post a link/lead? I searched and could not find it listed under her songs listing. I am a fan and a former Detroiter. I would love to hear her rendition. Thanks in advance.
Kendricks had the voice of an angel....you will never hear anyone on his stratosphere. David on the other hand, was just very gifted...and he added a technique to his version, that REALLY got your attention, because NO ONE was touching anything that any Temptation had gotten ahold of. That said, the original is just pure magic.

and both ended on the upbeat sound of the times. The original of anything is always the best to me David did an amazing job.

Hey Timmy Drops Those Facts
Fontella BAss was David's older sister, their Mother was Martha Bass who sang with Clara Ward
I give it to Eddie. I don’t care for the way David attacks some of his high notes; Eddie’s falsetto is the smoothest.
EXACTLY !!!
I vote Eddie Kendricks: seems more Emotionally ... Honest.
Both do a great job but to me no one does it like Eddie Kendricks.
