Gambino and Childish was rapping about the same thing. No one was feeling anything until he accidentally killed buddy by slapping the gun back in his face. One person laughed and then everybody else followed suit. The whole video is a depiction of how we are as people today and how we don't want to necessarily listen to what they have to say we just want to see em dance. Like what 3 stacks said in "Hey Ya".

The first man in the audience to start laughing sounds like he is laughing but his words sound like someone in shock and terror. Throughout the history of black music there is sadness that gets covered up with joyful sounds. The dancing changes as it goes on. When he tries dancing with the waitress he scares her, from the beginning the dance seems made for tik tok. Then he takes that guy's smoke, practically blowing it right back in his face, the guy is at a snapping point and has a gun. There are references to minstral shows, doo wop. I think the woman who laughs at the end looks like Harriet Tubman, I'm not sure if that is what was intended though. I think everyone at the juke joint is very reserved, hot and tired. Most likely there was a time black people were safest not having any reaction. If this references slavery music was most likely to be used in the fields. It was a way to communicate with one another but it appeared that it was keeping time with their work so they wouldn't be punished for it. The fact that Danny Glover killed that man by accident may be a comment on how the culture can be sacrificing their own people by accident as well. If not through shooting, using women or complacency would music be the same today. Also the whole thing is fire. Very black and white. I keep trying to figure out if the man smoking at the door was the one who played the gutiar.

Childish Gambino is rapping about growing up fatherless and thinking that you have no choice but to sell drugs, because you don’t want to be broke. Then he raps about the kid going to jail and originally getting 3 years but since he didn’t rat he got 9 years. Only to go to jail and get murdered just in case he decides to rat. But the black people that he’s telling the story to dont care because he’s not saying it they way they want to hear it. Then the accidental killing is just a play on the twitter meme’s when someone hurts themselves and the video get overlayed with the words OH NO Ohh no oh on no no. This prompts you to laugh, so now we can get back to selling drugs and making it sound good. Judy’s verse talks about having the power to stop everything but getting money and head feels good right now, being rich and powerful literally sitting on top of the world and not giving any kind of help. That’s the video.
