"I pride myself..."
Yeah, as soon as he started spouting that I went looking for you.
Thank you.
ty even if 2 years later ;)
I had found this out through a news article last week and it's so useful, I'm surprised Microsoft never said anything about it! I got one of the new controllers for Christmas and I've been going back and forth with my Xbox and PC since I got it, once I found this out it made the swapping so much easier than a full re-sync!
There is a key piece of information missing in the video though. When you double-press, it doesn't specifically reconnect your controller to your Xbox console. It reconnects the controller to the last device it was connected to that uses the Xbox proprietary wireless tech. This is more specific, because there are other devices out there that use the Xbox proprietary wireless tech than just the Xbox console. There is an Xbox wireless USB adapter for Windows, and some gaming laptops even have that adapter built-in internally. Of course, Microsoft claims their proprietary wireless tech for their Xbox controllers has less latency than Bluetooth.
With that information in mind, this explanation is more accurate:
- If you are currently connected to a device that is using the Xbox wireless protocol, long press to switch to the last Bluetooth device the controller was connected to.
- If you are currently connected to a Bluetooth device, double-press to switch to the last Xbox wireless protocol device the controller was connected to.
Does this work with the Xbox 360 USB adapter for pc?
@@omgitzsirairhorn No, the Xbox 360 wireless adapter for PC only works with Xbox 360 controllers.
so can i switch between my xbox and pc if my pc use the xbox wireless adapter? meaning can i switch it if both use an xbox connection?
Whoa whoa whoa... So if I have supported Microsoft by our chasing the wireless adapter for PC, in order to get the best performance, you're saying I cannot switch between it and the Xbox because they both use the Xbox wireless tech? This seems like a huge miscommunication and perhaps mistake by Microsoft, because you're singling out everyone who has multiple of their Xbox wireless devices, which means they are supporting microsoft more than just someone using Bluetooth...
Mad random but I’m so happy you still make videos. I first subscribed to you because you made videos on how to get some achievements I needed for Wolfenstien II. Awesome 🤘🏼
I didn't know this. This is extremely helpful. Just got a PC so this really helps since i want to use my controller for the pc games for now. Thanks!
1:46 the reason you came for
Thanks!
Another hidden feature of the elite v2 is that it randomly disconnects from the console in the middle of playing a game....
Top notch Microsoft engineering
This was happening to me for years on multiple XB controllers. Curious if your controller was every connected to a PC? I had to plug my controller into my PC directly with a USB cable and go into the device management settings and set the controller to not allow device to power down for power saving. Fixed the controllers I was having an issue with and it never happened again
Another hidden feature is the lb and rb buttons get double click
Hackerrrrs lol
One hidden feature I just recently found out is if you hold down the guide button until the menu pops up to turn the Xbox or controller off, than hit the X button, you can manually turn the screen saver on without having to wait the 10 minutes for it to automatically turn on.
I didn't know you can quickly switch between devices like that. Thank you for the info Maka!!
Just to note, this is actually a feature of BOTH the second (Xbox One Bluetooth-enabled) and third (Xbox Series with Share button) revisions of the Xbox Wireless Controller if you have the latest firmware. As of August 2022, the latest firmware version is 5.13.3146.0. You can use the Xbox Accessories app with a USB cable to update the controller if needed.
Good to know. I updated to that firmware version yesterday. How can I find out if I have the second (Xbox One Bluetooth-enabled) controller? Mine doesn't have the extra button like the new series. Edit: I think it has to do with the 3.5 mm jack which mine does have unlike the first gen. I just saw another video explaining this. I'll try again.
@@BeerNecessities727 The model number is found behind the plastic battery pack cover. Just look at the label for the model number.
Bluetooth-enabled:
Xbox One second revision (model: 1708)
Xbox One "Elite 2" (model: 1797 - I've never had this one, so I'm not sure if it is printed on the label or not)
Xbox Series X|S with Share button (model: 1914 - not printed on the label)
Original models (DO NOT feature Bluetooth)
Xbox One "DAY ONE 2013" (model: 1537 - I've never had this one, but it should be printed on the label)
Xbox One 1st-gen Elite (model: 1698 - I've never had this one, but it should be printed on the label)
Xbox One first revision (model: 1697)
The list is not comprehensive, but those are the models I'm aware of now.
NOTE: The label hides an extra screw, but removing/tampering with the label will void the warranty (if you have one). A Torx security size 8 screwdriver/bit (TR8) is needed to open the controller (e.g. repair). The other screws are behind the plastic grips on the bottom of the controller (just pry them off). I recommend iFixit Essential Electronics Toolkit V2.2 if you need to repair most small electronics (including laptops).
@@lightsup55 Thanks a lot! I confirmed I have Xbox One second revision (model: 1708). I still can't get it to work though after pairing on both devices.
Will it work on xbox elite 2 controller?
@@Marko-ij4vy If it can be updated to the latest firmware, then yeah. I don't have one myself though.
This is cool but the fact it doesn't work with the Elite v2 is a bit of a bummer. Finding myself disappointed. But never the less thanks for bringing the info to the masses Maka!
Not sure if I'm stupid or it won't work hahaha
I'm trying to pair with my PC, it works well, then I'm pairing with my TV, it also works.
After that I press twice the sync button, it flashes and all, but it never reconnects to the PC.
Is there any special tricky to sync both devices? Like, sync the first, switch to the second, sync on the 2nd? (I tried that and didn't work either).
I am literally about to use my controller to remote play Fighterz lmao thanks for this feature
Servers down
Thanks! I use one for pc, and console but didn’t know how to switch devices without syncing!
This doesn't work to quickly switch between PC and Android. The controller was connected to my PC, I then paired it to my phone and double tapping that sync button makes the light flash slowly but doesn't connect it back to the PC. And now when I hold down the sync button it automatically pairs with my phone instead of my PC. No matter how many times I tap the sync button it doesn't auto switch. That sucks.
That's pretty useful! Too bad they didn't put that on the previous gen, as I still don't have new controller. But nice to know!
Slight overlook I feel you should mention was if it's on pc you would need a wireless dongle or built in Bluetooth on the device which not every user has or may know
I assume the way to sync to the 2nd device is the same as the first, where you hold it for 8 seconds or so and then the other button? I only ask, because i have this controller but i cant get it to dual-sync and this video doesnt actually say how to do it. I have to keep syncing the other device.
For people watching this months later it now works with xbox one controllers and not only the series controllers randomly figured that out as when I was gonna play forza horizon 5 on my gaming laptop I noticed I didnt have to remove the device and add it back I just double pressed the button and it switched back and forth
Nice, that's pretty handy. I'm assuming it only works between Xbox wireless protocol and bluetooth? As in, if I use the Xbox Wireless adapter on PC I'm guessing this won't work?
I noticed this day one and loved it because I play on pc all the time then switch to my Xbox for Netflix and saves me so much time lol
Does this work between Xboxes? I always have to resync the controllers when my son plays on his Series S and then I try to use it on my Series X.
I don't think it does. It switches from xbox using wireless to a second device using bluetooth (pc or mobile), not two devices using wireless.
It does work with xboxes I've done it before
@@U3Hoops so just do the quick tap of the button if my son was using it on his Xbox Series S and it will go back to my Xbox Series X?
Ye
I'm trying to use this on the pc and original x-Bone but it won't do the fast swap, any help. Thanks.
Totally useful, thanks for the advice...
For the PC. Is the controller use just Bluetooth or is it using Xbox or steam app?
Am I doing something wrong? When I hold my sync button it just goes into search mode instead of switching to my pc and I have to pair it with my pc again. Double tapping doesn't switch it back to my Xbox after I pair it to my pc
does this work with the wireless adapter as well because i cant get it to work
Anyone facing this problem the official Xbox adapter doesn’t work I used a generic Bluetooth adapter and it now works
To those who don't know you need an xbox console which this counts as non Bluetooth device bc it is the same company... The other sync button is the Bluetooth device you last synced in... This means you can double tap to switch between console and the Bluetooth device...
Note if you have a secondary console and sync it to that second console it will be replaced to that console u cannot have two consoles synced the same time... The Bluetooth device version is still the same device u synced and its the same thing like the console unless u switch to another Bluetooth device... This how it works
Does not work for me. How do you connect to the PC? I have the Microsoft dongle but it does not work. I did try with Bluetooth but that did not work either...
WTF THE HECK thank you i didn't know i was long press for add bluetooth mobile and again long press to xbox series s. at very many.
you said twice press to switch, no reset bluetooth. im dumb thank you for showing me.
i was xbox series to mobile bluetooth long press like reset bluetooth. IT BEEN 2 YEAR!!! now i did shocked thank for you!!!
also can support 3 bluetooth? in one twice press wireless? mobile switch to PC or xbox switch to PC?
then PC to mobile or PC to xbox?
i was use connect cable xbox series s on PC
but i don't have bluetooth device for me. i will buy bluetooth 4.0 USB to PC. thank you!
I actually did not know that! Im bought an extra Xbox controller to use for xCloud on my iPhone, MacBook, MacMini and iPad. Switching between them is an absolute pain in the *ss! Do you know if the Elite series 3 support this feature as well? Thanks for sharing this vid!
I held down my sync button for too long (like 10 seconds), it does a weird vibration. What does that do? My controller won't sync to my Xbox One X now (even when plugged in) and I'm trying to determine if me doing this messed something up, or if it's another problem?
Maka i seen your videos and i play doom eternal as well so one great way to take town normal bosses take the microwave beam to plasma rifle and just shot that beam to posses and enemys and if you fiting with boss and ur ammo will be low then take super shotgun and shot one ammo to the boss it will one shot him
Does this work with Xbox One controllers that utilize Bluetooth or is this special to the Xbox Series X controllers?
another feature not allot of people know sinince the 360 era you dont need batteries as well the controllers for all xbox familes dont need batteries just plug in the controller through usbit work just as fine . cannot beleave people know about this too but thank you for this tip finally i dont have too keep reconnect my controller again .
This feature sucks 😂 Never worked as it should, not with Series S controller and not with the 20 anniversary controller 🤣 Hope it would work.
Yeah I use the xbox adapter on pc.
Will this work with the Xbox One S and the Xbox series s if you just use the one controller cuz I done this and it didn't work so I don't know if you can or not
The elite controller series 2 does not have this feature?
Thanks for the vid. Does this still work between Xbox and PC using the Microsoft Wireless Dongle on PC? Didnt seem 2 when I tried it. Thanks in advance! 🙏😊
I personally can only get it to work with a bluetooth dongle
Can you do this if the controller is pair on more than two devices?
Every time i double tap sync it just reconnects to the first device?
i have that red controller wich on pc now seems to show me playstation layout! played before and it was alright im looking for the secret combo to un-change it back to xinput..
Can someone tell me if its worth buying the Series S until I find a Series X? Does the Series S still get 4K graphics? Series S still make games look better than the Xbox One X did?
What if you have it say it synced to Xbox and pc and u last used it on Xbox, but you come to use next day and u wanna use it on ya pc but you don’t wanna turn ya Xbox on. I do this often and annoys me I just wanna play pc but to use controller as soon as you turn on it turns Xbox on and I don’t want it to
how about switching between 2 PC ? it won't remember last bluetooth paired PC.
First but who cares
Eggcellent.
How many achievements points do we get for this ??
Easy 1000
But powering on Xbox controller to play on PC powers up the series x. Is there a workaround for that
Doesn't work for myself, I wonder if that's because it is a Series S or the XBOX adapter is used with the PC
Oh my good, this information is gold! Thank you very much. 10/10!
so how do you turn on the controller without waking up the xbox?
doesn't work for me.. I have a series X controller which is up2date.
Nice, actually it was a pain in the ass, re-sync every single time between PC and Xbox, but this is just so easy. Thanks, dude.
goddammit why do i have a 180 dollar controller that has all these extra buttons but cant do this simple thing
Can i switch between my Xbox and PC if my pc use the xbox wireless adapter?
Does this work on pc and ipad? Mine didn't work.
I have a question I got into achievement hunting Whats the best way to do it all like you do
And I just nearly completed What remains of Edith finch rlly good game
@@adehz7796 To help get into achievement hunting or even trophy hunting, I would start with games that you're currently playing or having fun with. You can join a achievement hunting website like trueachievements.com and connect your profile, it will show your games and achievements, you can also look up achievement or trophy guides for specific games and also RUclips channels like Maka have really clear and concise videos on achievements, just remember it's all for fun so don't burn yourself out on really difficult things all at once, and look up guides when your struggling, usually people in these communities will give good advice or are helpful so don't be afraid to ask questions or join some achievement or trophy hunting reddits
@@nocta6927 thx man rlly appreciate it
can i connect one of the newest xbox controllers to a xbox 360?
Honestly it's f****** b******* that this is not a feature for the elite series 2
It does not work both on pc and iPhone needs fixing.
This does not work to switch from PC to Android , Android to PC ?
Wow this makes me actually bother to connect my controller to my phone to maybe play some games through xCloud on there, I was thinking, well, if I have multiple controllers, not so bad to do that, but with just one, this is really a pain in the ass to swap back and forth due to having to re pair, but this makes it easy.
Notable is that if you connect the Xbox Controller to PC through Xbox Wireless Adapter, that this does NOT work between Xbox and PC, it's specifically needing one to be connected by Bluetooth, at least so it seems in my testing after watching this video.
I know this is an older video, but on the Elite Series 2 you can do this as well, but it's not quite the same...it's easier. You double tap the pair button to go from Xbox to PC and double tap it again to go from PC to Xbox.
I have the elite v2, just updated filmware. Doesn't seem to work when try to switch from mobile to pc
What about a second television without a console hooked up to it
currently it works with all xbox one bluetooth controllers
What's up with the baby laughing at the start?
Plz answer me under that button it's shows me 2 red dots plz fix
I waiting for the Doom Eternal Ancient Gods part 2 walkthrough on your channel...
What about the dang controller desyncing?!
This isn't new I can do that with my Xbox one s controller too
I am so annoyed the elite v2 does not have this feature
How do you know when to hold and when to double tap
Can I switch between windows pc and ipad the same way you have demonstrated? I am not having xbox console, but i play games in these devices
Don't think so
Can I switch it from android tv to Apple tv iOS?
I'm using both Nvidia shield and Apple tv 4k.
Can I switch back and forth instantly with it?
No, only switch between 1 xbox and 1 other device with bt.
So this new controller doesn't need that dongle? Just Bluetooth? For PC!
Any controller made in the last 5 years doesn’t need the dongle. Only first generation Xbox one controllers don’t have Bluetooth.
That is pretty cool, even more excited to get this 3grand PC.
Does this only work for 2 devices?
I wanna use my controller with 2 devices via bluetooth and a third one via cable. Would the third one somehow mess with this setup?
Is it possible to switch between pc and mobile?
does this work with multiple pc?
Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for.
i have a series X and a bluetooth dongle for xbox controllers on my PC.. this doesnt work for me.
Thanks, very helpful 🤩
I saw one on the shelf for $55, at Walmart and I found the same one on their website for $39. They price matched me on the spot. Don't overpay for a wireless controller that somehow still takes (AA) Batteries in 2022.
At first I thought the video would be stating the obvious, but I’ve come to realize that this is a awesome controller trick that I’m pretty sure isn’t broadly known with Xbox controller users. And for that, you get a positive comment, like and…
*SUBSCRIBE!*
Hold sync until light blinks to switch to pc (or android.) Double tap sync to switch back to xbox.
So this does not work on elite v2?
Thanks for the video! Previously I used to unpair first when I need to switch from PC to iPad. Hopefully will work as well.
What about switching from one android device to an other android device? It doesn't work as smoothly as it should for me. I have to delete the controller from the Bluetooth list to switch from my phone and tablet, it's a pain in da butt if you ask me.
Thank you 😂
It’s kinda confusing that it’s double tap for one and hold for the other. I’m not sure which device is set to double tap and which is set to hold..
Can you only do it if the Xbox is already on? Cuz when I turn the controller on my xbox also turns on. I just wanna be able to connect it to my PC without having to turn the Xbox on
That is so cool
Smart
hi me
Really comfortable feature
awesome, cool video
Very useful. Thanks for the info!!!
Bless!
Just tell me how to turn ON Xbox wireless headset to use with my phone without turning ON my Xbox.
Can you make a video on how to get the MVP badge ??? I want one really bad ❤️❤️❤️
