The best camera review I'ever seen on RUclips! This is the way it has to be done. No nonsense, no wacky intros, no ugly grimaces that just babble for hours and don't show a single photo. Pure quality. Pure knowledge and everything backed up with pictures (it's not about taste and art). Simply 10 out of 10. Please keep on going!
Thanks! That’s the difference between someone who owns and actually shoots it versus unqualified people handing out useless advice and marketing fluff. See www.kenrockwell.com/tech/2-kinds-of-photographers.htm
OH MY GOODNESS!! You nailed it on the head! I thought I was the only one who had noticed this exasperating, inexplicable narcissism that so many reviewers seem to exhibit. Could someone please tell them? We don't need to see their face to hear their voice. Total waste of video time looking at someone's face instead of the thing they are reviewing.
Photos are very important. I wonder if Fujifilm will ever make a medium format version of the X100 series? That would definitely define a large format camera and be the first ever.
Agreed on the 2 last adjectives « helpful and practical » which is what we want as we are not lost in detail of secondary functionalities Not really the « most thorough » but again that’s why Ken’s reviews are the best as you get a nice real-life view with the key takeaway facts and appreciation of ease of use and image quality .. only .. and not dozens of mentions of small details that don’t make a camera a good one or not
Refreshing to watch a straight forward review, no fluff, no "Hey what's up people!" and no nonsense. Now if I could stuff the innards of my D850 into this little gem.....
Ken, thank you for this and all your work over the years. I'm not actually interested in this camera (though the information was great as always) but this was the first video that somehow popped up in my feed that let me see you had a RUclips channel. I've used your site for years to get my information on film SLRs and pre-2010 DSLRs and it's been enormously helpful. Here's to your continued success!
Between this review and the Z50, I've learned more about photography than most of the photography content I've see in my life. I think a lot of people nowdays are confused between learning and enjoying photography, and learning post production with raw photos. I know now that I'm a jpeg guy and look forward to buying a Z50. I don't want to go hiking, take bunch of raws, then spend hours sorting and modifying photos to get compliments, I want to capture moments and memories and share them. Also, I would not have learned about the leaf shutter and its interaction with flash if not for this video, that's a big deal. Took me back to my days of taking family photos with seemingly perennial mis -timed flashes then taking them to be developed at the photo studio who inevitably botched your reel with their poorly calibrated machines and blamed your 'bad photos' :)
I had never considered using the builtin flash on my black X-100f, to the point where I have covered the flash lens with black gaffer tape to add to its 'discrete' appearance. After listening to this review, I will now start exploring the higher shutter speed, fill flash options. Thank you Ken.
Hey Ken, great review! Always glad to pick up little nuggets of information from one of your articles or videos. Thanks for keep putting out great content!
Finally, no nonsense reviews from the Legend that is Ken Rockwell. I still read the review of the original X100, which I still use today, because Ken gushes over it as much as I do.
Thanks! And I so hated Fuji’s original press material claiming the X100 was just like a LEICA. and holy cow, as soon as I got mine I fell in love and have been ever since!!!
I still love my X100, it has its idiosyncrasies but the images are outstanding! I think it's probably the only digital camera you can call a 'classic'. Superb.
Ken is brilliant! People rag on him but listen, he knows his shit, and just look at the photos he takes…just outstanding. Who takes such colorful beautiful photos like him…there’s the proof…Ken delivers!!!!!!
alright Ken, I was in the market for a rangefinder and I was totally off put by your review on the Leica Q2 when you compared it to your iPhone, but I take it back with this review. Very well made, so much in fact that I bit and purchased the X100V. You didn't steer me wrong 16 years ago when I bought my first camera the Nikon D70, and it seems you still are keeping it real. You got yourself a sub, glad to finally put a voice to all the written reviews. Thank you, it's nice to see you again old friend.
I've read your various reviews for a while, but not viewed a video - nice to get acquainted with your voice. Excellent review and I do like the way you take photos of people (and dogs!) I still have a Fuji X10, which also takes really good fill in flash, but with a zoom lens, but small 12 mp sensor. I would love that Fuji update the X10 to a 1" sensor but that doesn't seem to be likely.
I too am an X100 fan. I have owned the X100 and X100S and acquired the X100V briefly until the Nikon Z6II arrived. I then returned the X100V and have been using the Z6II ($1900) as the daily driver paired with either Z24-50 or 50/1.8. The size was a definite drawback to more quick shots especially with the larger lens combinations. However, I recently purchased the Z-28mm/2.8 cupcake lens ($250) and, I have to say, finally have a setup that really suits my daily photo wants/needs and rivals the X100V compactness. The Nikon Z6II with Z 28/F2.8 actually performs better in my intended daily shooting and casual/travel needs than the Fuji X100V. The user settings (U1, U2, U3) allow for faster/more on the fly configuration changes. In addition, the Z6II has a better performing autofocus and video options. To be sure, my preference for the Nikon Z6II as the daily use platform is in part due to my Nikon bias, shooting 20+ years vice Fuji 10+ years and I recently upgraded from Nikon D700 to Z9 as the main body for events/action/work. By having the daily driver as the Z6II, the menu, layout, ergonomics, workflows and storage issues are same/similar and allow similar tactile feels and movements to capture images. That said, the X100V (and the X100 series), produce the best JPEGs for immediate use in my opinion. Love the color spread. While I love the Fujifilm X100V for what it is and what it does, I finally have a Nikon full format solution that better meets my day to day needs and provides greater creativity options (although at a greater cost/investment).
Great review. Have the X100F, great camera but ordered the V in black. Too many improvements to pass up for my needs. Kids=faster focus/flip screen, rainy Pacific NW= weather sealing, and that lens 👌. Can't wait for delivery.
New to Fuji and picked up this camera a few weeks back. Way different than my Canons, but having fun with it. Learned a few things from your review I will have to try. I haven't even turned the flash on once yet! Love the size, makes a great "I'm not sure what I'm going to photograph, but want a camera with all the controls, camera".
This review and your website are amazing, I ended up buying this camera instead of buying yet another lens to my Canon :-). Thanks a lot for the material that you put together and the insights that you share, in particular the tips of what we should not do. There are tons of very good advice here. Keep if going.
Superb detailed review... For me I have only two drawbacks regarding this camera : first is its fixed lens which makes me think twice before considering getting a "used" one because any problem the previous owner may have caused to the lens would stay there forever. The second weakness in my opinion is its focal length... I personally prefer the 18mm (27mm equivalent) for general street shootings.
I cannot believe I didn't know you had this YT channel. You were the one who turned me into these Fuji x100 cameras when you shared a comparison to a Canon LMNOP pro-level, showing how these cameras take amazing images.
@@KenRockwellTV I wonder how many followers you need for the $ "applause" button. I'm wondering why it didn't pop up sooner! But I literally went to your blog yesterday because I'm in the market for a birthday gift... for myself for my 35th! 🤣 Sounds like Google is keeping an eye on me. It's so great to have someone who loves taking pictures giving these reviews rather than "gear reviewers" because consumers want to hear want gives you joy shooting!
Always found the website a bit dry, but watching this a massive thumbs up from me. I've had a 100v for a while and like my other cameras, I have shied away from using flash. Just dashed downstairs for my 100v and mapped flash to a function button, I'll be trying it out.
It's easy to get your X100V. Order it at www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1542675-REG/fujifilm_x100v_digital_camera_silver.html?BI=287&KBID=1037 or www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1542674-REG/fujifilm_x100v_digital_camera_black.html?BI=287&KBID=1037 and be patient for it to arrive. Most people don't realize that these come in and go out the same day to people like me who have them on order all the time, without ever showing as "in stock" because they never make it to "stock" before they get shipped to us. Order yours and be patient, or be prepared to pay about $1,700 for a used one at www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_nkw=(Fuji,Fujifilm)%20X100V%20Camera%20-(cap,for,part,repair,screen)&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336071501&customid=&toolid=10001&mkevt=1 . The X100V is this good! Honestly I prefer my X100F www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/x100f.htm because it has a rear 4-way controller replaced by foolish touch swipes on the X100V, and today the X100F sells for much less than the X100V.
Ken you can save the fujifilm camera profiles including all settings to your pc and mac using fujfifilm acquire software. it’s really handy! it’s fiddly if it’s your first time though since you have to go into the menu of the camera and enable usb pc connection first otherwise you’ll scratch your head wondering why your pc isn’t recognizing your camera even though it’s plugged in via usb-c
Hey Ken, tried to find your opinion on the X100V heat issue that seems to be a topic. Any experience from your use? (Sorry if I missed it in the video/webreview.
James Pålsson no heat problem seem. Then again, I didn’t try running it for more than a minute of video. Huge heat problem on my XT30; overheats shooting 4K which is why I believe the run times are so short. With no stabilization x100v is impractical for video. Any heat problem I assume is shooting 4K. Does this help?
@@KenRockwellTV Yes, thanks for the response. I wonder how many would have cared if they just removed the video capability all together. As you say, it makes no sense filming without IBIS (when a decent smartphone outperforms the camera).
Love Ken from his website that i've been cycling through for the past 4-5years - discovered his RUclips only Lastweek, he sounds amazing, akin to Alan Alda =D The information visually and audibly is as impressive as his website.
Thanks Stephen! Hint: my written reviews at www.kenrockwell.com/tech/reviews.htm are always more complete and include more original sample files than I could ever fit into a RUclips video. KenRockwell.TV is for entertainment, while KenRockwell.com is for information. Thanks again!
Enjoyed the review. You provided very useful guidance to me for some time. I have kept to the Nikon system - can’t afford to change systems like other people do. I know the Nikon system, and the picture quality if good enough for an enthusiast like me. Currently have the D750 for the dynamic range advantages. But, I’ll still grab my d80 with fast zoom as a versatile grab-and-go camera for trips where I don’t want to worry about my gear. I’m also a Velvia lover, but until I recently read something you wrote about Velvia 50 still being produced, I didn’t realize that it was still available, new. You have me interested in getting a medium format Fuji 6x9 for serious, contemplative shooting, but I’m skittish about buying used from Japan, where most seem to come from. I bought the fugi x100t recently for $400. I’m floored by the camera - reminds me of my Dad’s Leica M3 in some ways, and I love that camera with 50 summicron. I have to watch the budget, so I generally buy cameras after they have been out for a bit and have come down in price - I’ll buy used or new, ... just not when the models first come out. Again, ... the pictures I can get with older technology are very satisfying. I agree with you that Velvia mode in the fugifilm just isn’t like my Velvia slides. I don’t particularly like the greens on the standard (provia), so I’ve been shooting Sensia sim with in-camera enhancements and enhancing a bit further in post for those walk-around grab shots of scenery. I feel that I can get decent color enhancement without losing the shadow detail. (I know I don’t quite go for the color pop that you like, though.) Since entering the digital world, ... I miss seeing the film renditions in slides, especially Velvia. I am concerned that the impact of the COVID-19 virus may shut down what is left of the film production. I hope that is not the case as I’m considering getting back to film to return to the enjoyment I had for Velvia slides. I’d start with my Nikon F5, ... but if I find it addicting, ... I’ll be committing more to a used medium format film camera. Thanks again - for the many years in which I’ve enjoyed your perspective and knowledge. I’m subbed to the RUclips channel - keep it up!
Thanks! You can get all the Velvia you want at www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ntt=velvia+50&N=0&BI=287&KBID=1037 I bought a lifetime supply back when it was less expensive.
totally agree with the other reviewer here that your the best no nonsense reviewer here with lots of knowledge and facts we want to hear way better than f stopers!
Mr Rockwell is an auctioneer in his day job? Did he manage this all in just a few takes? This is the most amazingly comprehensive, waffleless, hmm and ha-less piece of educational audio it has been my pleasure to enjoy. Fabulous!
All one take. One long take, like 40 minutes with the pauses and repetition cut out for brevity. Only my iPhone seems to have the chops to run more than 30 minutes at 4K.
Thank you! I go out of my way to try to make every second loaded with useful info, not sponsorships and self promotion and fluff. I appreciate you noticing. Thanks!
Great review, as always, Ken. I want to add that the little Fujifilm XF10 also has a built in flash with a leaf shutter, in a 28mm equivalent f/2.8 lens; and it has a 24 MP APS-C sensor, same one as in the X100F, I believe. Not in the same league as the X100 series, but a great, compact budget option.
Surprised to actually HEAR Ken Rockwell. From your website, I've always been a fan of your positive idiosyncratic style, that gives us the blessing of many clear viewpoints not to be found elsewhere. Just love it, how you can take off in billowing enthusiasm and after that, touch the ground with sober relativism. Though I think this video is a bit too long with too many iterations (pity - because you saved some best tips for the last), it's of course way better than all those talking head / street walking "humorous" time wasters, as others already pointed out.
Hi Mark, it is, but I only ever use the electronic finder. An optical finder sounds great on paper until you realize that the x100v is so slow in operation that you’re not gaining anything with an optical Finder.
Thanks; as I find deals I share them at www.kenrockwell.com/tech/00-new-today.htm I love the deal for the iMac 5K last year; got one myself for a steal. Thanks’
about time mr.rockwell....it's a tradgedy that cameras like these get condemned to "street shooting" i use a ricoh gr (which you cruelly panned) but that's by the by,for landscapes at which it's proved excellent....subscribed keep up the good work.
Excellent review...one of if not THE best i've seen. I'm in love with this camera. Had one of the earlier ones in the series. Am holding off a month to see what Fuji will do with the rumored X-E4, then will decide between the two. (The rumored new compact 27mm f2.8 would be my preferred 'one lens' solution). Craig
Thanks! I love sharing this stuff; that’s why I do this - and that same strap still going strong after 12 years. Sometimes I put tape on non-Leica cameras if the plastic strap parts run on the camera.
Hi Ken, thanks for the great info on what HSS can do in practical terms with this camera. I recently bought an little used X100T on EBay for £400 based on your reviews, just to see if I liked it. I got fed up with hauling large cameras, but I still wanted good (enough) quality. The T seemed a good choice as it has the usb charging and WiFi. For the money, I think it’s great. I think it is the camera I like best out of all I’ve owned. The autofocus is fine despite some people suggesting it’s not, and it’s much better than I thought in low light for family pics indoors. It’s sharp, nice colours, bokeh on demand, always seems to take a good photo, and compact. I’m now experimenting with HSS flash thanks to your video!
Look out: I’m not talking about the trick HSS mode, which doesn’t work and isn’t needed with these cameras. In this case you get regular sync at all speeds, even the very fastest. HSS is a trick mode with focal plane cameras that lets you sync at high speeds with focal plane shutters, but losses most of the flash power so it’s not useful. Thanks!
Authoritative as always. I have a new one arriving on Monday at which point I’ll probably send back the used X100F I ordered. I’m not usually indecisive, but the F didn’t quite seem to be there, though honestly, it’s limitations can be worked around. But the F to V decision is tough, I’m wondering if the V colours are flatter. Anyway Monday is judgement day.... cut to Arnie looking menacing
Great review, very good. If its possible to do a request on a old camera. Do a review and tutorial video for NIKON D3. There are some videos out on the tube but would be cool to have a "new" tutorial about the camera now in 2020
I really want one of these, but the X100Fs are looking decent on eBay too at around $600 now. But I can still do plenty with the leaf shutter and 12 megapixels on my old Pentax Q - that thing has surprisingly great colors and a good flash sync speeds. I like my a6500 as well, but both fell like you have to fight the settings more than you would have to on the X100V for people or when you need to be fast.
Thank you Ken! I've read your guide on the x100v a few times since you posted it and I'm convinced that you are right! I'm just looking to use it for food, family, and travel. None of these things need the new lens's close focusing or lightning-fast autofocus.
Patrick Jaszewski the original lens focuses even a little bit closer and is just as sharp, stopped down properly. Even the original 2011 X100 is great for closeups.
This looks like a good camera for general shooting and portraits I love night streak photos so full frame is a must but darn it it’s tempting for my photo walks Reminds me of the classic 35mm point and shoots you got at Montgomery ward’s with a lot of features
Excellent review! Thank you Ken! I have the X100F and despite all the reviews that say the flash on it stinks..I disagree. Best flash ever!!!! Have never been disappointed with it. So glad to see you have a YT channel! Subscribed!
Thanks! Beware of reviews until you see the portfolio of whoever created the review. Most reviews are not written by people who shoot; they’re written by tech hobbiests who lack the shooting experience to know what matters. See www.kenrockwell.com/tech/2-kinds-of-photographers.htm
It’s sad that rangefinder type cameras lost out to slr cameras back in the 70’s. It seems as though there should have been room for cameras in this form factor along with slr cameras.
There were, but most of us wanted to be able to see exactly what was going to be in our picture and what was going to be in focus, too. Ultimately no one cares for viewfinder cameras when we could get slrs and see what was actually going on. Thanks.
I’ve been wanting to upgrade from my ancient X20. I wish Fujifilm would make an X100 series camera with the 28-112mm zoom lens, or similar range. Are you listening Fujifilm? 👍
Nice review; you've convinced me I need to buy this camera but ........... I can't find one. Well, that's not true......Amazon says they have one but no one has one locally. Crazy!
Never buy locally - only use in-person stores to try it, but only buy from trusted online sources (www.kenrockwell.com/links.htm#stores) to ensure you actually get a new, never opened camera, and legitimately imported product. Local stores rarely have anything, and whatever they do has probably been opened and played with - and then they try to charge full price as if it were still new. As soon as the box is opened, it’s no longer legally new. Thanks!
Thanks for the in dept review! I think I still don’t understand the thing about maximum aputure/shutter speed combo that you cannot shoot with 🤔 what and why is that precisely? Thanks!
The shutter are metal blades that flip out of the way to expose. They move one way to open, and move back to the same position to close. They can only move so fast. At the limit they may have enough time to open a little for a small aperture, but not enough time to open all the way for the largest apertures. Thanks!
Nope. Doesn’t matter; the X100F is better than the V. Fuji has to be kidding; the V lacks the rear 4-way controller and replaced that with swipes. Good grief! I hear the X100X will do away with even more controls. Thanks!
Hi ken, Great review thanks. I’m on a fence for this one and a Fuji x pro 3. I’m a wedding photographer and will purchase one of those for my weddings and also for some street photography. Which one would you recommend? I’m comfortable with a 35mm if I need something else with take my canon gear to compliment. Thanks in advance.
Subscribed - Ken you are awesome buddy..! Strait forward, it's refreshing. I like the no-nonsense approach to getting great pictures. I can trust what you have to say. Actually just pulled the trigger on a Nikon Z50. Ken you really like that camera hey? I'm looking forward to putting mine through the paces - how's the battery life? Should I get an extra nikon battery with it? Cheers Chris.
Hi Chris!! Honestly I never seem to run my battery down. If you’re as cheap as I am, I’d stick with one battery and see if you ever run it down by the end of the day before buying a spare. Z50 pix look so much better for everything than any pic from the x100v for anything other than people. Thanks!
@@KenRockwellTV Ken thanks for the intel! I've actually decided to get a Z6 as well, as I have a lot of Nikon glass that I can adapt over - and I'm right with you on the megapixel thing - which is far overrated - I'd go for that crazy high iso noise performance any day (oh and smaller file sizes!). I don't think we need to zoom into the whiskers on a cat 12 miles away right?! Maybe re-frame your shot then?! lol Best channel on youtube buddy I'm looking forward to more of your content. Warm regards from Canada
Hey, you mentioned that you had to go to the menu to turn the flash on and off. I was wondering, can't you set up this option on one of the buttons? Fuji is usually highly customizable in reconfiguring them to your liking. Great review though! I want to buy it more and more!
Thanks! American ingenuity trumps Japanese cash grab attempt. Backwards threads indeed. At least they didn’t try what Olympus did in the 1960s by creating non-standard sizes like 43.5mm!
Dear Ken I recently played with the F that belonged to a friend in California & fell in Love with it......heard about some heating issues with the V....am primarily a iPhone & Nikon shooter ....planning on picking the F before I head back home to Mumbai as a primary street shooter over the V thou its only a $100 difference here in Virginia.....suggestions ???
Fuji doesn’t do video as well as an iPhone. My XT30 nearly melted down and discharged the battery entirely after a few minutes at 4K, while my iPhone can run all day. None of the x100 have video stabilization while the iPhone has built In auto gimbals. I’d forget the x100 for video. I prefer my x100F over the newer V; Fuji took away the controls ai need so why would I want the degraded bee version? Thanks!
Not sure exactly your question, but a nikon Zfc or Canon EOS RP will handle better and make much better and more colorful pictures. The X100V is for people pictures with soft colors, low contrast and great fill flash.
@@KenRockwellTV Please take a look at Andy Mumford‘s portfolio... (just to mention one example of a dedicated landscape photographer using Fujifilm cameras). Good review, btw.
I’ve noticed that my X100V will not engage AE Lock (I programmed the AEL/AFL button to only do AE Lock) unless the shutter speed is set to auto. Is there a way around this? I have not been able to find a mode that will let me manually set the shutter speed and use AE Lock at the same time.
Yes and I do, but it’s still a button that leads to a page that requires spinning a knob while I look at the page - far to slow for real world action shooting compared to a slide switch.
Thanks for the review. I am looking for a compact camera for travel, mostly hiking , plus take photos of my pet dog. Do you recommend this. I am also thinking of Sony RX100-VA. Which do you recommend. PS: I am using iphone only and would like to get into real cameras.
The iPhone is a very real camera. Presuming you’ve already got an 11 Max Pro www.kenrockwell.com/apple/iphone-11-pro-max.htm , what exactly can’t your phone do that you need it to? I use my phone far more than my X100V. Thanks!

I been following your camera and lens reviews for years. Having a RUclips channel is just-awesome!
Cool, huh? Thanks!!!
Thanks!!!!!!
alright Ken, I was in the market for a rangefinder and I was totally off put by your review on the Leica Q2 when you compared it to your iPhone, but I take it back with this review.
Well, just look at the pictures. Which do you prefer? Thanks!
@@KenRockwellTV Can you please send me a link where you compare Leica Q2 to an iPhone?
Great review Ken. I enjoy your no nonsense approach. I am looking forward to watching your other Fujifilm and Leica reviews. Thank you!!
Thank you! Of course the complete reviews - and many more of them - are at www.kenrockwell.com/tech/reviews.htm
Best review ever. I will order a silver X100V. Keep the good work up!
Hope you love it! Thanks!
Thanks
These cameras are impossible to find! I have been trying to buy one for a year now. Incredible!
They’re that popular. Thanks!!! See how to get one www.kenrockwell.com/tech/how-to-get-it.htm
Thanks!
Great video! I appreciate and enjoy your written reviews but love the new videos! Hope you and yours are staying healthy in these times
So far staying locked up like Fort Knox and staying alive. Stay home, stay alive. Thanks!
Excellent video Ken. Thank you! Got my black X100V two days ago.
Love it! Thanks!
Great review. Have the X100F, great camera but ordered the V in black. Too many improvements to pass up for my needs. Kids=faster focus/flip screen, rainy Pacific NW= weather sealing, and that lens 👌. Can't wait for delivery.
Thanks! Let me know how you like it.
See my user guide for tips www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/x100v-users-guide.htm thanks!
This review and your website are amazing, I ended up buying this camera instead of buying yet another lens to my Canon :-). Thanks a lot for the material that you put together and the insights that you share, in particular the tips of what we should not do. There are tons of very good advice here. Keep if going.
Thank you!!!
Thank you Ken. Appreciate your in-depth reviews a lot. I love my X100S but this looks like a worthy successor.
All depends on what’s important to you. See www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/compared.htm#fixed face recognition is important to me so I prefer X100T or newer
The filter hack…brilliant!!!! Ken is amazing!!!
Thank you!!!
Thanks!
Quality is your path. Very nice work KEN.
Thank you.
I cannot believe I didn't know you had this YT channel. You were the one who turned me into these Fuji x100 cameras when you shared a comparison to a Canon LMNOP pro-level, showing how these cameras take amazing images.
My kids insisted I do RUclips. Thanks!
Thank you, as always for your commonsense review! You saved me about $4k from buying a Q2 as a carry-around camera. Thank you once again!
Bingo! Thanks!
Always found the website a bit dry, but watching this a massive thumbs up from me. I've had a 100v for a while and like my other cameras, I have shied away from using flash. Just dashed downstairs for my 100v and mapped flash to a function button, I'll be trying it out.
Yes! Thanks you!
Ken you are a powerhouse of knowledge. Great review.
Thank you!
Great review of a great camera. I love the leaf shutter flash sync. I can't find. one in stock today.
Great review Ken! I'm using the flash on my X100V way more now after watching this video. Great results!
Thanks!
Excellent review. I'd like to get the V, but for now, having recently bought the X-T30, I'll stick with my well used X100T.
Good idea. 95% the same camera. Thanks!
Digital Tog thanks, never realized that. Too much effort for me for all that.
The moment I picked up the silver X100V I fell in love, bought it immediately.
Exactly ! Thanks!
Ken is the king of photography reviews. If I ever win the lottery, there will be a thicc donation dropping.
Yessss! Thanks!!!!!
James Pålsson 🤔 Hmmm
Love Ken from his website that i've been cycling through for the past 4-5years - discovered his RUclips only Lastweek, he sounds amazing, akin to Alan Alda =D The information visually and audibly is as impressive as his website.

Ha Alan Alda, exactly!
Easily the best review of this camera.

Absolutely Fantastic and very passionate Review. Many thanks.
Thank you!!!
I used to just read your reviews, since my Nikon D80, at your site coz' you had no youtube channel. This is so great! Thanks
Too long didn't read
totally agree with the other reviewer here that your the best no nonsense reviewer here with lots of knowledge and facts we want to hear way better than f stopers!

Impressive indeed! I speak as someone who has been a teacher (Grade school through college) for 40 years.
The best review of this camera I've seen. Thanks!
Thanks!!!!!!!
Finally a useful camera review on RUclips!
Thank you! I go out of my way to try to make every second loaded with useful info, not sponsorships and self promotion and fluff. I appreciate you noticing. Thanks!
Great review Ken! Love the Fuji X100 series.
Thanks, me, too!
Best find in youtube. A Ken Rockwell's channel. Subbed!!!
Thanks!!!!!!
Excellent. So does X70; they were all less serious cameras. Thanks!
It’s KEN- MUTHAPHUCKING-ROCKWELL!!!
Thanks!
This guy knows his stuff. Awesome review.
Thank you!!!
Bingo. I like to stick to just the facts and not fluff. It’s the voice of experience and talent, as people say. Thanks!!!
Such a practical review. Thanks Ken
Thank you!!!
That viewfinder is pretty amazing! Excellent review!
Hi Mark, it is, but I only ever use the electronic finder. An optical finder sounds great on paper until you realize that the x100v is so slow in operation that you’re not gaining anything with an optical Finder.
I love those sales announcements on your website. Thank you!
Thanks! I use my X100 series for family, group and kid photos.
Didn’t realise you got a RUclips channel! Lol Subscribed 👍🏻
Cool! Thanks!!!
Craig
The xe4 and xe3 are totally different cameras. The.x100 series are far superior- unlesss you need interchangeable lenses. Thanks
Great review. Also the Leica strap is the best tip you ever gave. Ha! Have one for the X100F and Sony a6000.
Thanks!
You’re the man, Ken!
It’s all for you guys. Thanks!
i'm commenting mainly to improve the channel metrics. ty for the review
Thank you!
Excellent, balanced review. Thank you.
Thanks !
They are 97% the same. Unless there’s something critical about the new version for you, you won’t even notice the difference between them.
Great review, very good. If its possible to do a request on a old camera. Do a review and tutorial video for NIKON D3. There are some videos out on the tube but would be cool to have a "new" tutorial about the camera now in 2020
See www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/d3.htm where I have a ton of pages to cover everything about the D3.
This is great, I'd love to see an X-E4 review contrasting with this camera.
Coming as soon as I get one.
V is for rich people. X100F is the same thing. See www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/compared.htm#fixed to compare
That sounds perfect to me. Thank you again for all of your great advice!
This looks like a good camera for general shooting and portraits
I love night streak photos so full frame is a must but darn it it’s tempting for my photo walks
Reminds me of the classic 35mm point and shoots you got at Montgomery ward’s with a lot of features
Yip! Thanks!
Amazing review as usual! 🙌🏼
Thank you!!!
Getting my x100v this week! Upgrading from x100t
Yes! Hope you love it. Thanks!
Excellent review! Thank you Ken! I have the X100F and despite all the reviews that say the flash on it stinks..I disagree. Best flash ever!!!! Have never been disappointed with it. So glad to see you have a YT channel! Subscribed!

Great review,
Love the filter tip!
Bingo! Thanks!
Ken Rockwell on RUclips? Subbed immediately
Thank you!!!
Good work Ken. This is how camera reviews should be done.
Thanks Dave!
Would you mind elaborating on your filter extension? I like the set up but I’m not sure I follow it correctly. Thank you!
It’s explained in my written review at www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/x100v-users-guide.htm#filters
Thanks, but the allure is the fast, compact lens.
Superb review.
Been wondering for a few years to buy or not. Would love Fuji to make monochron virgin. I mean version.
Well, just set it to B&W mode and don’t worry. Thanks!
Thanks!
Dear Lord, let all reviews be as great as this. Amen
Thank you!!!!!!!!
Wow! What a jam packed 30 minutes. I too cannot figure out why I can't turn on flash with a dedicated button or F button but oh well.
Maybe this will help: www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/x100v-users-guide.htm#flash Thanks!
Thanks!
@@KenRockwellTV thanks for your answer and explanation Ken, it makes total sense 👌
Excellent review once again, Mr Rockwell.
Do you know when the successor to the X100V will make its debut? Thanks.
Nope. Doesn’t matter; the X100F is better than the V. Fuji has to be kidding; the V lacks the rear 4-way controller and replaced that with swipes. Good grief! I hear the X100X will do away with even more controls. Thanks!
@@KenRockwellTV Ok... Thanks. I'll take a look at that one. What are your thoughts on the T?
Hi ken,
Great review thanks.
I strongly prefer the X100 unless you need interchangeable lenses. Especially for people, its ultra high flash sync and built in flash is everything.
Muito obrigado Ken! Abraço from Portugal
You can and I do, but all that button does for you is call up the flash in the menu system a little faster.
At video 28:31 - "Filters" - Brilliant work-around KR !
Thanks!
Which equivalent form-factor camera would you recommend for landscapes, then, if not this one?
Not sure exactly your question, but a nikon Zfc or Canon EOS RP will handle better and make much better and more colorful pictures. The X100V is for people pictures with soft colors, low contrast and great fill flash.
@@KenRockwellTV Please take a look at Andy Mumford‘s portfolio... (just to mention one example of a dedicated landscape photographer using Fujifilm cameras).
Good review, btw.
There are no specific landscape photography cameras. It‘s all about lenses.
I once took a shot of a bee in flight near a flower, with frozen wings with my old X100
Thanks!
You’re ahead of me, I’ve NEVER gotten AF lock to lock at all!
Never mind the camera - WHERE CAN I GET THOSE METAL ENDS FOR YOUR STRAP?? That's BRILLIANT!
Thanks. That’s the LEICA strap. I have links to it at www.kenrockwell.com/tech/straps.htm
You should be able to repurpose one of the back buttons to switch flash on or off,
Yes and I do, but it’s still a button that leads to a page that requires spinning a knob while I look at the page - far to slow for real world action shooting compared to a slide switch.
Thanks!
I’d go RX100 before X100 because you’ll appreciate the smaller size and zoom lens of the Sony. www.kenrockwell.com/sony/rx100-vii.htm
