Thank you so much for this video. I am currently in a Subaru Outback loaner car while my car is in the shop. The key fob battery was getting low and when we tried to change it, the fob stop working completely. My car is a older model, a Ford 2006. I am so unfamiliar with these newer cars. We had lost all hope and I thought that I would be without a car for a few days while the dealership fixed the fob. I am so grateful for your video. Thanks again!!!

Thankyou! I was out and about when my dash told me my fob had low battery. I was really nervous that after doing a few more stops I might not be able to start the engine to get home. This is a very reassuring hack!
Thank you so much. I am trying to figure out how to work on three of us in the family being able to use the same Subaru without having three fobs. I think what you just showed is the secret. I will get Subaru keys made and leave the dead fob inside to start the car….. so excited to see if this works?!!!!! 🤔👍🏼
Yo Alex. Love the channel man. Actually just started at a Subaru dealership as a delivery specialist and I can tell you your videos have helped me out. Would love to see some videos about differences of trim models for all Subaru’s and more over views of the other models you haven’t done yet. But again love the channel!!! Keep it up!!!
Thanks for watching man! Happy to hear you're finding them helpful. I've had a few people request the same type of video so I'll work on that. I'll let you know once I post it!
Great videos! Just bought a Forester Premium w/RCTA/Bsm yesterday, and the sales guy didn’t have time to go over anything, so I’m finding your tutorials really helpful. I’d love to see tutorials on the safety systems. Ex: Is there something that makes a noise if you go over line? Or is there just the lane centering with cruise control? When/how does the braking kick in? Because it’s hard to test the safety features, I’d love a tutorial about each of them. Thanks again for spending the time doing this. You’re helping a lot of people
Thanks for watching! I’m glad you’re finding them helpful. Yes, the lane keep assist will alert you visibly and audibly on the dash when you’re outside of the lines in the road. I’ll work on a video that covers the safety features and post it here as a reply to your comment once I finish it.
Thanks Alex, I just bought a new Subaru Outback, Yayy! Your videos have been a huge help in getting to know my car. Your information was also instrumental in my purchase decision to go with Subaru. Best regards, Bryant Swift
Awesome! Wish I'd known about this yesterday when it happened to me. One question I have for you is how did you get the alarm to stop after you used the key to enter the vehicle?
WOW! these Subaru's have some crazy electronics. My wife's 2024 crosstrek has had battery dead issues 3 times in 6 months. I also needed it to be moved once but was stuck in Park. I could not find any way to get the shift lever into Neutral. Please show us how.
Great tips as always. This was a concern of mine with the keyless entry system. Do you recommend that 1) we change the battery ourselves on a regular basis, 2) regularly put the key fob in sleep mode to save battery life, and 3) if both keys are in the car at the same time can one be put in sleep mode and the car still locked? Thanks
Hey Ricki! Just click the unlock button on the inside of the door handle to get it to shut off. If that doesn’t work for some reason, you can also hop inside the car and put your keyfob up to the push to start button. Then push the button in with the key to start it and deactive the alarm.
Just some common sense ideas. Keep a few key fob batteries in your glove box or someplace in your Subaru where you can access them. Remember you have a key to open the door with a key inside of the fob. Watch a video on how to replace the battery. They are on RUclips, study the instructions and write them down if you need to. You may need to store a small screwdriver to pry the key fob open with. Remember if you open the key fob you're separating two pieces of plastic so be gentle and slowly pry it apart. You'll see the battery inside of your glove box along with the tool and the batteries. This might sound like a lot but we all take it for granted how far it is to walk 30 miles if you're stranded or how much a tow costs.
I like to go surfing and take that key out and clip it into my bathing suit. Instead of having to put the fob in sleep mode, is there a way to leave that at home and just take the key? Is there a way to start the engine with just the key?
I bet if you get a metal box that acts as a Faraday cage well enough then you wouldn't have to put in sleep mode? But also not the best solution either
I have a 2020 Forester and the FOB battery died. Thank God the display instructs you to hold the FOB near the start ring....the display reads, "Hey, stupid. Do this!" Worked fine.
The only way that I can think of is to insert the key into the ignition to start the car and turn the alarm off. If you have push button start, starting the car will also shut this off.
@@alexpmo I thought I saw you reach down to a button on the door, just as you were saying "of course the alarm will go off..." and then a quick scene cut and the alarm wasn't on any longer. Anyway, I thought I would have to use my key to start the car and silence the alarm, but of course, after several minutes of panic, looking in the dark for an ignition key slot while the alarm was blaring, I realized there was no slot and hit the start button, just because I was out of ideas. LOL That stopped the alarm and started the car, but it was kinda embarrassing until I got everything under control. Was hoping there was a magic alarm silence button somewhere that I could hit, but I guess I was wrong. Some of your other videos have since informed me of why the alarm goes off with the key and my fob seems to be working fine since that one incident. Thanks for the reply. Sell lotsa cars!

You can turn the alarm off once the car has been started with the key fob up next to the push to start button. You’ll have to click the lock/unlock button once the car is started. That happened to me too and I couldn’t get the alarm off at first 😂
