    I agree with you on beginners using the cheapest book they can find. It's the writing that matters.

    I'm so happy I found your channel. One of my biggest barriers to writing is not having a good pen and good paper (I know, it's a sad excuse), but I've learned so much from you about pens, inks, and papers. Got my first box of ink yesterday and I'm so happy and writing, writing, writing. Thank you!!

      Hi @SandyQueue - welcome!!!! It is just one of the greatest feelings when you find a pen/ink/paper combination that really really works for you! It makes everything worth it ... all the not so great combos we find along the way! :)

    I love this! I feel like I've found my community, because I've journaled forever and absolutely need to as well. Journaling evolved with collecting writing instruments and I've been doing both for decades. I have felt on the outside until this because journalling seems to be more scrapbooking nowadays whereas the writing (and sketching) is where it's at for me. I love pens, writing, and good notebooks. Lately, I'm discovering the joy of Traveler's notebooks because I can have and do it all. Thank you for sharing your journey! It's so similar to my own and really resonates!

      Hi @periwinkletree - traveler's notebooks are great! :) I can really relate to what you said .... when I first started bullet journaling I thought it had to be so fancy and decorative and perfect or I wouldn't be a "real" bullet journaler. I'm glad I found Ryder Carroll's book (later in the process) and other minimal bullet journalers .... my bullet journal is not necessarily ugly but it's very simple and works for me!

    I loved this video! Thank you so much for answering all the questions and more... these videos are so interesting don't you think? I love to hear people talk about journaling! The last thing you said really stuck with me. I have been feeling like I want to share but I have nothing to share because it's all the same that I have posted about before. But you are right, I might not have said something "that way" before or someone might have missed it before... maybe people just like seeing someone use the same stuff over and over... 😆. Anyway, THANK YOU!

      Hi Brie! This was so much fun! I loved seeing your video and the others who made them too! The inspiration and little ideas really generate a lot of excitement for writing! :) I think after we have a channel for many years ... we begin to see our content as "same" ... or we begin to feel there's nothing new to say ... but everyone continues to love getting inspiration and little ideas in regard to their art, hobby, or special interest so it often surprises me that people still watch and enjoy the content!!!! :) I have learned a lot from you about how we don't need a ton of supplies and fancy stuff to make art!!!! :)

    Hi Chris, this was a wonderful video. My history of journaling only goes back to Feb. 2023 (I'm a late bloomer)!! I'm currently working through the latest Walmart Exceed A5, but I have 2 different journaling notebooks waiting. My oldest son once bought me a Leuchtturm1917 A5 Dot grid. It was not good. I used it, but my difficulty with it is that it was lined. I actually need lined paper as a writing guide otherwise I'd be all over the page.

      @ChrisSaenz13  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi @zeus52452 it is really funny to me that I have no problem with dot grid for my bullet journaling but I just have to have lined paper for my regular journal. Also, I was disappointed when I realized I "only" have been consistent with journaling since 2004 ... but that seems just like yesterday until I realize it is 20 years which is 1/3 of my life. :)

    Great video, Chris! I loved that owl journal. I use an A4 for my journaling and set a goal of completing at least two pages. I normally use a Clairefontaine notebook, but recently bought a Leuchtturm A4+. I look forward to writing in it.

    I really enjoyed the video😊 i really appreciate you turning me onto the more affordable paper. I'm having fun with my CVS caliber notebook just with not so serious writing and journaling, i don't feel like my writing has to be up to a certain level or topic to deserve the tomoe river.

    • @ChrisSaenz13
      @ChrisSaenz13  5 месяцев назад +1

      Hi @courtney9212 - I'm slowly becoming able to write in better journals without having a complex lol. But, for so many years in the past I was not able to afford much for hobbies .... I think some of the scarcity mindset has followed me in life. :) But I certainly don't want to croak with great journals empty in my house. So I'm motivated to use the ones that have come my way!

    Vietnamese papers are crazy cheap. 2.5USD for 100gsm, 120 pages (60 leaves) of A6 paper. It has no showthrough. You can write both sides.
    Vietnamese inks are really cheap too. About 3USD for 30ml.

      Hi @NuryPPanaligan - oh my gosh I didn't even consider there might be Vietnamese inks? If you see this comment can you tell me what the brand name(s) are? Maybe I can find out with some research. :)

      @@ChrisSaenz13 Canhdieu, Hong Ha, and the Vietnamese child's first ink, which is Queen.
      I bought Canhdieu Mực Phổ Thông Cam (roughly translates to Universal Ink Orange). A regular orange, pretty close in color to Gatorade caps. Shades well in when writing in fine. I haven't tried it in a medium nib pen. The color becomes uniform when writing in a flex nib (which is also from Vietnam) and probably broad nibs too. Feathers like crazy in regular paper. It doesn't feather on the paper I bought from Vietnam though.
      The price could be expensive for you though because of shipping shenanigans. I bought it on South East Asia's version of Amazon (Shopee), so there are vouchers to make the shipping fee free. For context, I live in the Philippines.
      A Writing Guy did a video about Queen Inks.
