  • Perhaps best known for covering the Robert Hazard-written "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" for the soundtrack of the 1985 teen comedy of the same name, Deborah Galli released her major label solo album "Radio Active (Fun Fun Fun)" in 1984. If Polygram wanted another easily pushed-around Cyndi Lauper clone outta Ms. Galli, that's not quite what they got.
"Radio Active (Fun Fun Fun)" is a Galli original. I'm not exactly sure inspired the lyrics, which were written back in 1981. However, given the chorus, it is possible that the Gregory Peck / Ava Gardner film ON THE BEACH played a role. It seems to have inspired a few beach-themed pop songs referencing radioactivity, pollution, and thermonuclear annihilation over the years. Along these and parallel lines, "Radio Active (Fun Fun Fun) is part of a new RUclips summer 2024 playlist called "On The Beach." Films, film trailers and pop songs with similar subject matter can be found there.
    [Lyrics]
"Well there's lots of fun down on the beach
    On The Beach
The plutonium right within reach on the
    beach
On The Beach, On The Beach
We Got Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
You can watch the waves glow, if you wish
    On The Beach
Watch the kiddies play with the dead fish
On The Beach, On The Beach
    Baby, On the beach
We Got Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Every single summer day
Boys and girls come out to play
All Across this lovely gray, Radio Active
    U.S.A.
The New Hampshire coast to the
    California sun
    On The Beach"
Down in Florida up in Washington
On The Beach, On The Beach
    Baby, On the beach
    We got
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
    Radio Active Fun, Fun, Fun
