  • Claudia Robot released her "Alarmsignal" LP in 1982 while still based in Vienna. The title song is one masterpiece on an LP containing several. "Alarmsignal" also turned up as a B-side of the "Scherbenlilli" single.
Since 1945, enough songs have linked erotic love with atomic reaction that it constitutes a sub-genre of nuclear-influenced music. But Claudia Robot is unique in her usage of an alarm signal (which could translate to what we call an "air raid siren" here in the USA) as a metaphor for sensual pleasure. Combined with this meaning, the "Alarmsignal" is a further mechanized expression of the "Ich bin Roboter" (I am a robot) idea central to her music and live shows during this period. At some early shows, Claudia Robot even donned a robot costume.
    "Komm
    Komm zu mir
In meinem Zimmer steht ein Bett
    In das du kriechen kannst
    [...]
    Du bist mein Alarmsignal
    Deine Hände - überall
    Du bist mein Alarmsignal
    Deine Hände- überall"
    "Come
    Come to me
There is a bed in my room
    That you can crawl into
    [...]
    You are my alarm signal
    Your hands - everywhere
    You are my alarm signal
    Your hands - everywhere"
Claudia Robot (aka Klaudia Kroboth) calls the US home these days . She still writes and performs songs in both English and German. I'll drop a link to another one of my favorite tracks in the comments.
Thank you Klaudia for permission to post and for background information!
