Sitting here with tears in my eyes. The message of Christ's birth and atonement is part of it, also the beautiful music and seeing many close friends that I shared some good memories with when I was at the University of Utah.
During my last year of undergraduate studies, I was blessed to be able to perform this very arrangement. Its a time of my life that I miss deeply, a part of friendships and familial bonds that aren't what they were. Thank you for sharing this where others can see it, you have helped to preserve a precious memory through your performance. You have also reminded me how desperate men are to find reason to give praise-- how deeply men hunger to find a reason to give way to joy.
UU Singers nail it again! I use many of their videos to learn my own choir music. Tears sting my eyes each time I listen to (or sing) this piece, and I'm an atheist. Absolutely gorgeous.
Our Sequoyah Hills Presbyterian Choir ( about 45 membersd) is to sing this tomorrow night with 27 members of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra. This should really fill up our old and very beautiful community church. Wanted to see how another choir performed this classic. very lovely. Thanks so much for sharing.
Certainly the best performance & arrangement of this song I've had the chance to hear. Stunning singers, pianist and conductor. Everything is beautiful. Thank you for this wonderful Christmas gift. Merry Christmas to you all. Greetings from France
You and me both. It was my favorite Christmas song as a young kid, probably due to the simple melody, which great songs so often have. Just ask the Beatles. I also got emotional in the movie The Color Purple when Oprah approaches the house near dusk and you can hear The First Noel in the background.
+Moneygetjealous well the holidays are here. may GOD bring you and your family love peace and joy.. such a sad time of year for me but at the same time it brings a piece of comfort to my heart and soul.. happy holidays....
I will listen to ANYTHING this group sings. Their singing is flawless, perfectly blended and conducted. You can see the fervor and emotion on their faces. People are making fun of Mormons too much lately: this song is sung with such FAITH, and isn't it in short supply right now??
[3:46] jusqu'à la fin, un délice pour les oreilles. Tout en douceur, en retenu, je ne suis pas un professionnel de choral mais on sent tout le travail, le talent. Bravo
I've been singing along with this version to learn the tenor part - but it is the feeling in your interpretation of the arrangement that makes this piece so moving. Thanks for posting!
Simply beautiful, and very powerful. Kudos to the cameramen for capturing the performance so well, and thank you so much for not spoiling the powerful ending with applause. You allowed the song to become a prayer. This is one of the finest I have heard/seen in your playlist so far. Thank you for bringing so much reverence into your performance.
wayland baptist univ in tx did this song as well its is Legit!! and yall did it beautifully as well! such an amazing arrangement of this christmas carol....really gets you in the festive mood of the season
this is such a beautiful rendition. we're also singing this for our church's Christmas program this December. beautiful arrangement from mr. Dan Forrest! :))
Love the arrangement, love the voices, love the pianist, (except for the clunker at 0:37 - ouch!, and maybe they could have raised the lid a notch), love the beautiful women and beautiful venue! Best recording I've heard so far on youtube and it's not even the orchestra arrangement. Works great. Wish I could hear them with orchestra in a cathedral with reverb! omg! Every time I find a collegiate recording I love, it was done years ago, and I can't help but wonder where all the students are now and what they're doing. We need choir reunions where fans can join in and sing it with them. It may not be as good, but man it sure would be fun! Sign me up! I'd be there if I had to take Greyhound overnight and come right back home. What a joy a concert experience with them would be, as long as we get to use the music and not have to memorize it. Us amateurs don't have time for memorization and that's why church choirs don't usually make you do it. Some do, but I couldn't be in those.
Wow... so amazing..the ending was like going to heaven...moved me to tears...we are singing this for Christmas, I hope we do it half as well... Great job choir!! Eileen, Babylon NY
we have a thing called Northwest Kansas honor choir. there was about 150 people that got in. I was in it. we sang the version that's in 4/4 time. it was so nice
@nurlond This is Libby Gardner concert hall on campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City. Thank you for viewing, subscribing and your positive feedback!
I first heard this arrangement a couple of days ago on the JW Pepper website...I can't tell you how much I wept. You'd be surprised how WONDERFUL the demo is. Slower than this...amazing.
Listening on April 27th, 2023. A wonderful arrangement, and so Beautifully, sung. Thank You.
✨🕊✨
I wish my choir was this passionate in their singing and as dedicated as this choir. I love this choir, everything they sing is beautiful
This choir is full of teachers who teach music. They're professional. They're not college students, hence why they sound so good
The best version of this song ever!!!
Who is watching this beautiful choir in 2020 Christmas Eve !
I am! And i am blown away! Brings tears to my eyes thinking of what comes with the birth of Christ 🎄😭
Sitting here with tears in my eyes. The message of Christ's birth and atonement is part of it, also the beautiful music and seeing many close friends that I shared some good memories with when I was at the University of Utah.
Amen. I get overwhelmed each time I hear this song.
I'm a nonbeliever who can tell beauty. This is a beautiful performance of a beautiful piece.
Keep listening. God speaks
through the music of Christ-mas🕊️🙏🏻

I've had the pleasure of singing this arrangement. I love singing the tenor part. These kids are fantastic. I'm glad to have discovered them.

@@gamerkenzopro I'm sorry, I just saw your reply. I don't have a copy of it. it belongs to the chorale that I sang in several years ago.

Religious views don't change beautiful music! These singers did a fabulous job
I miss being able to sing in choir
Jesus loves you
I'm so glad I got to perform this with my choir.
Me too
I hope you savored it, I miss being able to perform
There are a lot of performances of this around You Tube, but even after 10 years, this is still the gold standard of them.
@@mikeprevost8650 fuck yeah it is!!
One trait of a great choir is how they sing their schwas. These are superbly delightful.

Everything they do is stunningly beautiful - the pianist is quite amazing
One of the few Christmas music that hit me hard the 1st time I listen to. Beautifully written and sung
Same here.
I love Dan's arrangements! The music truly penetrates its meaning into your heart, especially when "Noel" begins building at 2:26.
I listen to it twice a day since about 4 Weeks. Beautiful, beautiful beautiful !! Thank you !
Phenomenal performance. No more words to express.
Oh man.....this an incredible arrangement. The world just stands still when hearing this. So incredibly beautiful and moving- love the pianist too!
I cried like a baby. Multiple times.

Never heard this lovely arrangement before. Yes, their performance is technically excellent as well as warm and joyous. Definitely bookmarking this!
The arranger is Dan Forrest. This is one of the best, maybe even the best, arrangements of The First Noel that I've sung.
It's September, still a few months away but summer is finally over. Can't wait wait til the holidays are here.
+Moneygetjealous well the holidays are here. may GOD bring you and your family love peace and joy.. such a sad time of year for me but at the same time it brings a piece of comfort to my heart and soul.. happy holidays....

My high school choir is working really hard on this arrangement, and I thought it was so ridiculously heavenly. Your choir has this song down.
Absolutely beautiful! Glory be the God!

Very well done. Made this hardened old sole cry.
