What a wonderful conversation. Thank you, Thomistic Institute, for working to help bring the light to people like me. The joy in the faces of these two people, even as they contemplate suffering, speaks volumes!
This is one of the best conversations I’ve heard about Christ and the value-added content by both presenters was above and beyond my expectations. Thank you for such brilliant content. I’m praying for you.
Love your work. Thanks for this interview. One of the questions I have has lately is the following: how is it that we can look to Christ as an example of suffering if our suffering is one of doubt and despair? I want to be careful here in writing this since it can sound impious, and that is not my intention. But how can we perceive our suffering as a participation in Christ's suffering if Christ had perfect knowledge of the ultimate good and had perfect hope that he would be crowned with eternal life and universal dominion by the Father (Phil 2:5-11), all the whilst we might be suffering from precisely a lack of faith and hope (a despairing and broken heart)?
Hey Erick, thank you for all your work. I saw that this hadn't been addressed yet. It reminded me of this talk from Bishop Sheen: ruclips.net/video/_I15uF2tmUA/видео.html. He speaks of Christ's relation to even the sufferings of atheists and the like. I hope this is helpful. God Bless brother!
I’m not religious anymore but I grew up Protestant. The church I went to taught that Jesus didn’t have perfect knowledge as man, so he was as much blindsided by the crucifixion as the disciples. I don’t know how well that vibes with Catholicism but but that’s how we dealt with it. Have a good one!
Unfortunately most of us aren't JP2 so it's difficult to imagine how the incarnation might be told in us. In the mean time I just try to serve those I come in contact with bc I don't know what God is trying to do with me or through me.
First and best way to know is to meditate upon Christ`s life and espescially His Passion and bring your life into reflection in light of His. Learn to walk with God and let Him lead the way. Also, maybe ask Him and know He will answer you in His own time and way. So listen for Him and learn to discern His voice. Basically, you need to know the Lord to know this to the degree He wants to share with ud and to some extent, trust Him and leave it in His hands, as He is God and we are not. What is known though is, He knows what He is about and not an iota of our life is wasted if spent in servics of and seeking Him. I hope this helps a bit, God bless you, my sister in Christ, through Our Blessed Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
I don't understand this question. There are many forms of suffering; physical pain, mental anguish, spiritual, a suffering conscience, hardships, inconvenience. Pain of the body is clearly simply an indication of illness, a pathology or of danger. Mental suffering can be fatigue, confusion or illness. A well formed conscience may suffer because of wrong doing, or through twisting deadening or malforming s conscience. This causes suffering as a warning or as a reason to reform and live virtuously. Sometimes we suffer in order to do what is good. At other times suffering physical or other wise results from doing wrong or at the hands of others doing wrong to us. God and suffering?
I am a huge Fr. Pine fan, so I say this with love: Please stop using the wireless earbuds. The level of radiation is really high. Look into it. They’re not healthy.
Only specific types of radiation are dangerous. From air pods you’re probably only getting Radiowaves and maybe some microwaves, but neither of them are energetic enough to cause damage with their use.
Too much modernity here. Our stories do not matter but the saints and those Catholics who have lived according to the Gospel are what matter. Plus, being happy is not the important aspect of life but the meaning of life according to the Deposit of Faith is what is important.
I think the story of the atheist and the dead son is bizarre.Medical incompetence is not to be somehow offset by the vision of God in heaven. This made up story is dire.
Does anyone else feel this warm, loving feeling every time she talks? Nuns are the best
I wish I could engage with Sister as my spiritual director…I imagine that would be amazing ❤

So JBP got it right. Philosophically and methodically.
Sorry, who is that?
@@leogranato3166 Dr. Jordan B. Peterson. He talks about how meaning helps us trancend suffering and uses a lot of stories to illustrate this.:)
I'm the same age at Matt Fradd, so I've already aged out of the Thomistic Institute retreats, 'sad face'.

The context is the general reason for suffering in the theological sense but not taking out scientific reasons.

Why sister do you suffer
Don't you know that with Christ you ko longer suffer?
not convinced 😟! Always the same excuses!
