You are actually right about the storyline. Being creepy in a subtle form might be the main storyline here. All of them have individual quirks or powers. Super Strength, Light Manipulation, Penetration Vision, Slow Motion/Super Sneeze (XD), and telekinesis. I think they're all trying to escape this 'backroom' that you've mentioned. But the concept is dope. They're all trying to be cutesy and stuff but creepy.
