@@45scienceproject people who have suits usually are the ones who can afford them, yes “modern” clothes are expensive, but in my opinion they do make people look childish and millennial like. Back then when everyone wore suits it was because the trend was to look “fine” and well made like you just made a million dollars from the stock market and got a suit made from the finest cotton made by master tailors and hand sewn to fit your custom shape.
Now the modern style usually involves EXTREMELY cheap and low quality cotton, all machine made and mass produced because the goal of these many “designer” brands isn’t to make a high quality article but to make thousands of them for very cheap and very fast. What you call “modern” style is actually very very low quality.

We are not about drama, and so reaction videos are not in our repertoire generally, but we will film a reaction video to our own video simply because many things have changed since we filmed it. Maybe you can react to that one too, I'll let you know when it is published 😉 At the end of the day, it is each to his or her own. @@mpanini5694 I think by quality he means how the clothing is constructed. A lot of the fast clothing made nowadays won't last nearly as long as vintage clothes have because they aren't meant to last forever. Its made cheaper so that it can be produced quicker and cheaper and more people can buy it. That doesn't make it bad. Just not as long lasting. And most trends won't be in fashion in 5-10 years. But some things are classic in the sense that they will be less likely to be out of style in a few years. For instance a basic pair of dark blue jeans in a slim fit or slim straight (basically a style that fits your body type but isn't either really tight or really loose) has been a staple of menswear for decades and probably won't be out of style anytime soon. But the super skinny jeans of the early 2000s or the bootcut bell bottoms of the 70s are more likely to go out of fashion because they are more interesting and eye catching. I think the best thing is to just find whatever works for u. I like some aspects of the gentlemans gazettes style when it comes to textures and suiting. Other things I dont prefer like a looser fit or pleats. And I like gallucks style as well although I wouldn't wear a lot of it because I'm not huge into streetwear. But I do like how he incorporates designer clothing and trends into his clothing. Especially his use of boots. Its all interesting entertainment to me. You're on two different planets. Ralph focuses only on traditional and proper gentleman's attire. He isn't the least bit interested in "vibing." He is teaching high and classic men's fashion and the fact that you said that nobody is trying to look like this since 5 years ago shows how much You're not on the same page. Everything you say is TREND, TREND, TREND. The gentleman's gazette is dedicated to classic menswear backed by facts and history. The suit is a garment that has been in menswear for centuries. Graphic t-shirts and other trends that you support, have only recently come into popularity but go in and out of style decade after decade, further showing that they are nothing more than just that, TRENDS that have no solid foundation. And proof of that is on the world around you. If you went for a job interview in your hoodie vs. a suit you wouldn't come out ahead. Thats all being said, as Raphael said in this Era people wear whatever they want and don't care about their appearance, so feel free to wear what you want. You continually criticized him based on things you precise as "cool" or "trendy" which is a very closed minded view point.

@@Gallucks It's not brain worms, he's telling the truth. GG is about classic style that is timeless, and what he says about the job interview is true. I think it just comes down to target demographic. GG's target audience isn't teenagers, their content is for people who want to look professional and also invest in quality garments that last for many years. Anybody can just look at trends ("nobody wants this!") and have a superficial opinion of what looks good, but a GG's content often delves into the functional purpose and history of the articles they discuss as well, eg. only wearing flip flops at the beach, because you don't need the ease of taking them on and off when you're at a restaurant. The sheer depth of information they provide is why people watch their videos, there is more to it than just saying "sandals are a vibe" and referencing what Kanye is wearing because a lot of times that stuff looks awful unless perfectly executed and will be out of style in 5 years or so.

Greetings from a Gentleman's Gazette subscriber (only 20 years of age). I think it's worth pointing out that this has been Sven's most devisive video (note the like-to-dislike ratio). Most often he isn't this harsh in his language usage, and also uses other words besides 'dapper'. The premise of the channel is to serve the very small minority of people who are invested in classical mens style, he is not advocating that everyone adheres to these guidelines. In their respected field GG reign supreme on RUclips and provide knowledge that is hard to come by elsewhere. Some of the advise is admittedly somwhat antiquated, but nonetheless GG provides a nice contrast to the dress-down culture that has been prevalent the last couple of decades.

This whole video is infuriating to watch. You call him bitter, overly critical and unknowing for talking about a subject within his expertise, yet you're reacting with gag signs, calling him old, saying "no one ever does this" and disregarding every point he makes. Talk about hypocrisy.
What I mean by his subject of expertise is the style of classic men's clothing, which is what the video you're reacting to is all about. Like he says in the video, you CAN do whatever you want which is becoming the norm today, and at the same time you can inhale asbestos or dress up as an emo 12 year old as you seem to do calling yourself a fashion stylist, but that doesn't mean you should if you want to be respected.
I wouldn't be nearly as critical towards a video like this, no matter how whether it contradicts to my opinions or not, if you didn't behave like such a jackass while expressing yours. Especially how the video is aimed towards those who do want to dress up like that, hence why the video is published on a vintage men's fashion channel called "Gentleman's Gazette" and not "objective facts everyone should follow". If you aren't interested in the subject the video is about, don't watch it. What you're doing here can be compared to going to a fancy restaurant, ordering a fancy wine and then spitting it out yelling "I HATE WINE!" Just don't order the wine then. And you especially don't have to insult the waiter afterwards.
There is also no point in beginning the video saying you're a "huge advocate for wearing whatever makes you happy" when you behave like that for the rest of the video.
A tip for you is to revisit the channel and watch some of their videos on improving personality and conversation, as it's apparent how much you have to learn about that.
On a last note, asking "who would even do anything like this" while noting repeatedly how it has two million views just answers your own question.

I appreciate the gentleman's gazette for their knowledge of the origins of men's classic fashion. I grew up watching pimps, hustlers, and gangsters real street players and how they dressed. Society has changed in the last few decades and we now have a more free spirited approach to fashion now. I like to think that I'm one of the most versatile individuals ever. I might Ware a tshirt a pair of military shorts with a pair of construction timberlands and a new era yankee fitted hat. The next day depending on my particular endeavor I might Ware a bespoke three piece suit no belt just suspenders custom made shirt silk tie white pocket square (TV fold) and carnation in the lapel with black whole cut oxfords. My point is that I can go to any street corner in any hood and be like what up what's good or I can sit in on a board meeting and fit in with the top executives. A lot of the styles now are just straight goofy and anti masculine. The trained eye can detect quality over bullshit. Something that has been a trend in fashion for a long time is being self-aware / meta, so when he says "you look immature" or "you look like a school boy" like yeah thats the point, its that aesthetic but elevated. On the other side of the same coin, something that is also very popular is taking smart wear like blazers and making them casual or even distressed. Idk much about "dapper" fashion styles but maybe these trends just don't translate? What i think is so popular about streetwear and high fashion is being able to take different elements of different styles and converging them, bending the rules to make something unique, but dapper style is a set of rules that can't be broken; personal styles may still exist but all the elements of the outfit are from within the same bubble in fashion.

I'm am currently more casual and street wear leaning due to just not really having anywhere to wear formal stuff, but as someone interested in formal wear I have watched quite a few GG videos. I like how Gallucks does point out that not many people want to wear formal stuff anymore, which is valid, but I also really like the fact that he never tries to find common ground at all. it's genuinely fun to see.

Not necessarily. I’m 19 years old and have been both watching gentleman’s gazette for years and dressing classically for years. The great thing about classic style is that it ages a lot slower than modern trendy style. Men wore suits in the 1930s, and men wear suits today along with other classic style choices. It’s sad to see the toxicity towards people like me who dress a certain way. He clearly stated at the beginning of the video that anyone can wear what they want but immediately bashes very single one of Raphael’s points. It’s not that I try to look like a 30s banker; it’s just what I like to wear just as some men like to wear sweatpants and hoodies. None of it is bad or wrong; we just like different things. I’ve always preached that style is not a one way street. It’s a personal journey and a form of personal expression. If he had any knowledge of GG, he would know this is not the channel to go to for modern fast fashion.

A well cut suit has been a staple of menswear for well over 100 years. They have stood the test of time, and continue to do so.
The kind of fashion you feature on your channel will go out of style within 2 or 3 seasons.
As much as you think people don't care about classic menswear, even less care about hip fashion trends. The menswear industry in general is dying, with people spending less and less money on their wardrobe every single year. With the emphasis on comfort and casual wear in recent decades, the vast majority of people just don't care about looking good or owning good clothes anymore.

the average definition of chic is stylish and elegant ,I'm not sure if Nike slides and socks falls in the later. gentlemen and classic style "30s" I think you're right he definitely has a niche audience and good advice in that circle, as a guy who wears rags to work and jeans ,Tshirts and sneakers 95% of the time. could you make a video on what to wear at the office, wedding, formal /semi formal NYE or if the bar, pub, club or lounge your goin to has a dress code

I think because I live in south east Asia, so we don’t see sanddles with socks and it,s generally considered as a weird match there because it,s so hot out there, just saddles why socks, you regret it once you go outside 😂

Not everyone wants to be dapper, but also not everyone wants to look like a hype beast. GG makes good points as well and it’s better to be diverse.

Generally I think Gentlemen's Gazette videos can be interesting, however this one is probably the most ill-mannered one that I have seen. Personally I don't dress like you or Gentlemen's Gazette but I was incredibly disappointed when the video started and he said the lead pipe and asbestos thing. He was correct in saying that you can wear whatever you want today but that is where the sentenced should have ended. Just because he has a preference for clothing style doesn't mean he should push that on everyone. However, that goes both ways. Just because you don't like his style doesn't mean that he should be thought of less than for wanting to dress classically.

I'm a gentleman's gazette subscriber, dress like Bing Crosby, but I think Sven was referring to those who prefer dressing with suits etc. Not people who follow trends.

Wait... So you're telling me this isn't a comedy channel making parodies of fashion content creators?

I feel bad for your spacebar on your laptop each time you paused the video lol. All jokes aside, I enjoyed watching your reaction video and even though I may disagree with you on some comments, it was still very informative and fun to watch. :) p.s, Don't feel bad for everyone who does endorse his channel. The main purpose of the video being direct is to attract people who enjoy dressing that way and turn away those who don't.
