As a Dutchman, I watched this video with great surprise. Even without pedestrians, this bridge is not suitable for cyclists. Far too many obstacles. In the Netherlands we would build a separate cycle path on the bridge and if the construction does not allow that a separate cycle bridge. Yes, it costs a lot of money, but we know that the cycle path will ultimately generate money.
Pedestrians / tourists happy and the cyclists also happy.

@@xXIllGetYouXx if you bike on a foot path you risk getting your bicycle confiscated or receiving a really big fine , it's like that everywhere in the country because foot paths are for pedestrian traffic only and someone can get hurt if there would be a collision.

Some sort of fence could maybe work. But it seems the biggest issue is trying to please two modes of transportation with too little space which makes a bad compromise with the current amount of space. Especially with this bridge being the tourist magnet it is. We have somewhat similar issues in some places in Copenhagen where the walk/bike paths are poorly designed.
I have to say that some of the bikers behave like savages yelling at tourists and passengers. Just horrible. They stepped on your lane? You know it’s a tourist attraction and it’s crowded at certain hours. Common sense. But your rudeness truly misrepresent the city. Shame on you!

They used to run trains on the top deck of that bridge, and the supports are still there. Plenty of room for them to build a proper dedicated bike path off to the side and let the pedestrians stay on the existing walkway.

Not an option. The Brooklyn bridge is already too crowded. Adding a bike lane will crowd the bridge which will crowd the BQE which will crowd the belt and so on and so forth

Street market (paintings etc) at the start is blocking the pedestrian footpath on the right. This would not be permitted on Australian bridges like the Sydney Harbour Bridge or West Gate Bridge in Melbourne. The West Gate Bridge has a tall barrier on the sided to stop a few crazy jumpers too. AdHoc street markets should be banned on the bridge. Street markets, in this case probable not authorized by the council, should be elsewhere more suitable like in a popular park..

Benson the “loud horn” is a brand. It just sounds like a car horn to alert people more effectively than a bike horn does. People ignore bike horns until they run someone over. I got nailed by someone turning left on red while I was stopped, they cut through my lane I blew the bike horn repeated they kept coming. Should of heard the dude crying not to involve cops
