Alec’s fish are all my dream fish. I am literally thinking of converting my shell dweller to a mbuna tank atm. Now I’m on here looking up these! I’d love another mbuna video. I kept them for years in a 55. Need a refresher!
Really good video. I learned a lot of new things like keeping mbuna with turtles. Buying them small and growing out and the probiotic salt. And I love seeing your fish they’re so beautiful.
Beautiful fish! Also, you probably didn't even try for it, but to me, the rockwork in that tank looks a lot more like underwater pictures of Lake Malawi than most Mbuna tanks I've seen.
Love it Alec! How long have u used that aqueon heater? I got aqueons but the pro ones with the LED temp dial. I've been reading and hearing bad things about them but they've worked so good for me! Curious how long u had urs and if u ever had issues? I'm nervous I should change em out
Any update on the black blotches on the predator haps? I feel like I might have something similar on a clown loach. Not quite as aggressive as what’s on your fish but just curious if there has been any progress on treatment. Thanks!
Fyi, that light is not the right one you need for your turtle. You need a seperate heat light UVB and a seperate UVA bulb that mimics sunlight. It can not penetrate glass so you would need to remove that back piece of glass for it to work. Please look up Arcardia UVB T5 bulb as well as well as their basking light.
Can you please make a video on the black spotting going on in your tank ive got a dragon blood that was incredible but he soon developed spotting across his body. Hes the only one with it and i dont know what it is. The mbuna tank looks fantastic tho man great work
Hey how are you my name is Fernando I watch ur 40 breeder video of mbunas. I wish I had ur tanks but what’s a good upgrade for 3 ft tank I have blue and red zebra
I just started a mbuna tank and I'm wondering if it would be ok to put some string algae in the tank to see if they will eat it. I've been taking a lot of it out of my 55 community tank. I keep hearing mbuna love to eat algae. Good or bad idea? Thanks for making this video, I was hoping to identify the mbuna I bought as a assorted 6 pack. I also bought a Maingano which was very colorful as 2 to 3 inch size. I would like to get another. Do you think 10-12 cichlids would be to many in a 75 gallon tank?
The black on the fish isn’t from parasite. It’s pretty much burn marks usually from high ammonia levels. And because they all have it I’m guessing you had a crazy ammonia spike at some point that cause burns on their skins. Just like wounds you wanna keep the water extra clean for faster recovery and to keep any fungus or bacterial infections. Should be able to recover if kept in healthy conditions. Most of it will go away but they’re might be scars you might still see.
@@CichlidBros from what I understand that’s the only thing that causes those burns. And I’m not saying you keep your water in bad conditions because that’s obviously not the case, but sometimes amonia spikes do occur even to the best fish keepers.
My city has very hard water (similar to Chicago). How do you guys raise New World Cichlids in such hard water? I understand this question might not be appropriate for an African Cichlid video, but I need to know. -thank you.
With ALL due respect. I mean this. You really need to learn a little Latin and some Africani too. You are SO butchering the names of close to most of the fish you are describing. I only wish to help. I learned from a couple of the best. STEVE LUNDBLAD, owner of The Cichlid Excange abd The Wet Spot Tropical Fish in Portland, Oregon. I know you've purchased from them as shown in at least one video. I was the former Sales Mgr. Regardless of my 62 years in this hobby I don't profess to know everything, rather strive to learn something each day. Ad Konigs was also a great mentor, let alone one of the best authors on African Cichlids. I'm very biased here. I pen this note for one reason. I think you guys have the potential to be one of the "go to people" to help actually educate via the internet information on all cichlids for thar matter. You both have the RIGHT ideas. Keep up the great work. Rich Waters Ret., Coos Bay Oregon

Looks good, Alec. Lots of color to look forward to for the new mbuna and your current setups. 👍
Thanks for following along!
Some great choices, Alec. Thanks for the update!!
Great group! can't wait to see them when they're all grown up
Thank you!

Thank you, and glad it was helpful!
Nice looking selection. Should be fun catching them out of the quarantine with all those rocks :)
Haha yeah, I already know I’ll have to remove and rescape
I love the mbuna tank! I would love to make a huge mbuna tank like that some day!
Thank you! I’ve enjoyed it!
Look into the Chindongo saulosi Mbuna such a great cichlid as well
Such a tiny, adorable little turtle! ❤
I love him!

Hello, I'm from Indonesia, and I really like all the fish you have, and I also have several of the same types ❤❤❤
Awesome, thank you!
You guy's are just amazing 👌

Do you recommend having the filter intake and output on the same side of the tank?

Yep there have been some recently posted

Pretty confident I did not have ammonia spikes. I regularly test my water before and during the issue. Nitrates stay below 20ppm as well

We just keep parameters consistent and they do just fine. Especially tank bred fish - they’ll be just fine even if pH and hardness aren’t ideal
@@CichlidBros - Thanks bro!
I watch your videos, where do you usually buy these fish?
This order was from Tampa Bay Cichlids
Are those real rocks in the 180 mbuna tank?
Most of them came with the Aqua Decor background and are light/hollow
I'm confused, the fish in the thumbnail is not the same as the fish in the pictures, now i'm curious, you bought luwino reef or maison reef?
Luwino reef
Nice fish. The current looked too strong for the little turtle
Thanks! He’s good tho
How many wave makers would you use in a 75 gallon African cichlid tank? 1 on the top and one on the opposite side on the bottom or just one?
Yeah either two smaller ones in those positions, or one strong one in upper corner would both work well
@@CichlidBros what would a strong one be considered? One that’s for 75 gallons or one that’s for something bigger like a 125?
@noneofyourbusiness6809 I like this one for a 75/125g … Sicce XStream 3500: amzn.to/3CC3fqT
Can we see how you guys order on custom aquariums …. Because I’m loss 😅
I feel you there
