You know, I've listened to your jams for a few years now. I've listened to great, fully fleshed jams with 6 or 7 devices at the time. I've listened to you jamming with none other than Kellii Scott, drummer of one of my all time favourite bands. And I've loved it all. But something keeps me coming back to this little jam. The melody, the little progression on the Microbrute, the delicate bass line on the PO, the absolutely monstrous beat you programmed on the Drumbrute. I love everything about this jam, and I will keep on coming for more for years to come. Thanks, Jay, for taking the decision that day of scrapping the bigger jam and do this instead.
I didn't remember that i'd ever comment this track !? 😳 I've received this Monster combo few days ago ! 🥳...the Sound of future ! It will change m'y life ... really !!! PEACE 🙏 !! Thx for perfect inspiration !👍👍👍👍
I do have to confirm that this jam is pure fire. Not often do I find myself un knowingly raving out wickedly in the kitchen doin’ some sign language shit with the arms and digits. Thank you for taking me to somewhere else briefly ☺️
A lovely hardware jam. I dig the melancholic melody and the distorted kick drum. Very cyber punk to my ears / post apocalyptic ambient music. Seems as if this one just sort of channeled other worldy influences and let the gear speak for them in the form of melodies and rhythms.
To be honest, youtube was running in the background, for a minute it was ok, but then was like whoa this is freakin great. Skillfully performed, really nice, melancholic vibes and setup.
So awesome! Getting autoplayed for the third time and I love it every time again. This sounds just like a complete version of some sounds that I would create - totally my sound.
Baaaaam !!! Huge Sound ! Perfects chords ! Hey .,you're now able to be signed by border Community !!! Really ! This Sound IS Amazing ! Nathan Fake+Ricardo Tobar ! Soôôo ...arturia ! Im waiting 4this combo . BRAVO !!
Great jam. This jam would definitely encourage me to buy a DBI and a MF if I hadn't already done so in the last two weeks. And I agree, the DBI is fantastic and fun to use.
Dude. This song is just so beautiful. I can by now sing along the complete melody even though you’re completely f*cking with us in how the sequence lands around the 4/4 bar.
@Jay Hosking F* you man, I keep revisiting this song. Just moves me deeply, truly. Beautiful work 👏 I sort of hate you for it because I just wish I made it. But I love it man
To be fair, a lot of those complaints were against the original Drumbrute, which had a rough launch. Early batches were plagued with issues. I thought it was mostly a lot of BS and got sounds that I LOVED out of my original Drumbrute. I parted with it for a Roland TR8S and nearly instantly regretted the decision. Picked up an Impact on a whim to check it out and ended up dumping the TR8S for it. Sure it's more limited in its sounds, but it has more character and the workflow is more fun IMO.
Stranger Sun I honestly never had a problem with my drumbrute and I had one of the first ones. I got the deepest most hard hitting ghetto house/footwork/techno sounds out of it, once I got the BD and the hi hats and Rim all dialed in, and I haven’t found another drum machine like it, my Vermona comes close, and I got the behringer 808 clone which sounds great for what it is, but my drumbrute is probably my favorite. How do you compare the original with the impact?
Wow, very captivating. One of my favorite live performances to date. Has a kind of a Vector Lovers-ish vibe to it. And the MicroFreak really shines here. Loved the combination of the progression, sound and drums. Thank you for sharing.
I just bought the micro freak - this was slick. I am looking for more spacey-gothy sounding stuff to be inspired by. This is the closest I've found so far. I'm a noob but this was rad. I'm prob going to go down a rabbit hole on the other things you have hooked up here.
Really nice job. Couldn't agree any more about the Micro Freak. Absolute beast and a steal at it's price point. I haven't given Drumbrute a chance yet. Perhaps because I have a loaded MPC X and Maschine mk3 handling all my drums. Love the fx pedals. The one thing missing on the Micro Freak are fx, so running them through pedals makes it sound dreamy!
This is a beautiful little jam. Less is more sometimes. Came across this while researching the Microfreak. Just purchased the MF and subscribed to your channel for the many great jams you have
LOL I ended up getting a Microfreak as well this Black Friday. How have you found the purchase? I'm so positive about the vast amount of posibilities this little thing offers.
@@Jegkedermigmega Still getting my head around its capabilities. The mod matrix is great and the cycling envelope but still feel like I'm only scratching the surface. Comes through a little sharply at times but still a great little device. How are you liking yours?
That was well nice! Trippy and full-on at the same time. Freak sounded great and the Impact sounded much better on this video that I remember from Synthfest when I played on one and thought it was horrible! I need to take another look, I guess... Thanks for the video.
out of all the anilog synths and key boards i checked out here on line i think i like what's coming out of this the best.i never saw a mini jack for midi before. its fine for going into my kaossilator pro and it does also have CV in puts to use with my theremin.
Somehow you’ve got the best sounds out of these machines - reminds me of Aphix Twin a lot 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I would love to hear a studio version of this with it all mixed down to perfection
Yeah, putting together this relatively small setup made me yearn to run the individual outs from the DrumBrute Impact so that I could mix it better, but alas, that's the nature of hardware setups! And thanks so much!
A joyous jam, thank you for sharing :).... It was instant lurve when I got my little freaky friend, a brilliantly conceived piece of gear for an exceedingly fair price.
A UNO SYNTH desktop or pro could be a good option instead of the PO33. For adding effects, the Zoom MS70CDR is also good for delay/reverb and chorus. It might take less place than the PO33 + Strymon deco. It's not easy to choose a set when the place is very limited.
Nearly everything else about MIDI is impressively enduring, but something about Deluge + MIDI through has been disastrous. Got a new MIDI through box on the way!
Thank you for making my indecisive mind finally push the green light on purchasing a micro freak . Now I want a drum brute tho . Awesome jam man keep oscillating
He kind of did In the video. They’re synced so I’d guess that the drumbrute is sending midi clock data to the pocket operator and the micro freak, the rest is just audio routing to the fx units as described. That’s what it looks and sounds like to me anyway.
You know, I've listened to your jams for a few years now.

You know a jam is good when it's stuck in your mind for 2 days straight and in the evening you come back and listen... ❤️
I do have to confirm that this jam is pure fire. Not often do I find myself un knowingly raving out wickedly in the kitchen doin’ some sign language shit with the arms and digits. Thank you for taking me to somewhere else briefly ☺️
Whaa!! Nice jam! A sweet feeling between Boards of Canada, Nathan Fake and Com Truise....
Well done. I like it. Especially with the narratives in the video :)
Awesome.
Agree, the narratives are helpful, just got my db impact, fun to see your set up in action
Thank you thank you so much for this videos. I also love your written comments on what you do. For newbies like me it is priceless. Keep on technoing!
A lovely hardware jam. I dig the melancholic melody and the distorted kick drum. Very cyber punk to my ears / post apocalyptic ambient music. Seems as if this one just sort of channeled other worldy influences and let the gear speak for them in the form of melodies and rhythms.
I keep coming back to this
To be honest, youtube was running in the background, for a minute it was ok, but then was like whoa this is freakin great. Skillfully performed, really nice, melancholic vibes and setup.
I just got a DrumBrute Impact and was seeing what other people have done with pedals and uh, yeah damn this is really good
I keep coming back to this bloody track. Not a bad thing obviously. Thanks again Jay.
So awesome! Getting autoplayed for the third time and I love it every time again. This sounds just like a complete version of some sounds that I would create - totally my sound.
Listened to this a few times. Thrilled I just landed back here while browsing... love it. Eerie, foot tapping, addictive👌

what a great jam! very cool!
This tune gets stuck in my head every time I hear it.
Love the early aphex twin sound of the HH. Great jam!
Great jam. This jam would definitely encourage me to buy a DBI and a MF if I hadn't already done so in the last two weeks. And I agree, the DBI is fantastic and fun to use.
Real nice to see a guy who knows how t get the best from limited equipment. Great track, kinda old skool Aphex Twin.
What an incredible melodic progression. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this!
This is beautiful, really enjoyed, thanks for sharing.
wow triple whammy - great track, great video, great information
Fantastic job!
Lovely composition :) Really like how harsh the drums are in the mix, such a bold move that really goes well with the melancholic lead. Keep it up! :)

Take a bow. Great to see real joy and freedom in a jam.
Great jam!! And I loved the comments during the song!
I'm so happy I grabbed the MicroFreak now. I love that track. Good job mate, keep goin!
Vert nice jam.... It's like a gentle euphoric dance beat.
Nice jam 😌👌
Anyone who says the drumbrute doesn’t sound good should come watch your video

@UCLID not even close
@UCLID Solid edit.
@UCLID sounds like you either have shitty speakers or delicate fragile ears, nothing wrong with the hats at all.
I heard your little jam with the Octotrack on the Bobeat channel and came here to heard more...and i'm not disapointed. I'm in now
Really love your melodies ! I'm pretty close to buy a DBI, and now I think the next one will be a microfreak 😁
I loved this!!! Love the commentory too.
Lovely jam theme!! ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for the presentation of the components, it helps me to understand these recently discovered instruments 🙏😊
Man it's been 3 days that i keep coming back to this video, it is so catchy
That surely is “working in the box” ... 👍 great jam...
Your sound is so great. very impressive. thanks from Japan.

God I haven't listened to Vector lovers in at least 10 years now.. thanks for reminding me of them :)
@@Renzsu Glad to... I revisited the albums last week and it was such a trip to the lovely past
You have to set the POs up for sync. Hold the function button and press bpm to cycle the options 👍Ricky Tines has a good video. Love your jams.
6:22 - Dat feel when a live jam turns out just perfect.

Great video, great jam, love the text and the style of video. Well done sir.
Liked and subscribed.

I like it... it’s hopeful music. The world needs more of it.
Still one of my favorites!
Beautiful and full of impact. Outstanding tone
very great melodic and lush chilli jam bro!

I am convinced that you could make a toilet flushing and electric toothbrush sound like a swirling ethereal heaven.
I’ll try to sample it sometime
This is really good 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You’ve got a winner there

awesome melody and bass line. have been listening to your song since yesterday.
that drumbrute snare tho :D
Absolutely awesome jam i am thinking on buying the microfreak really love this synth
That was a really interesting vid to watch and hear! Thanks
Back again 2 years later. Love this song. Its awesome
I love this so much! Thank you for being awesome!
Wow...just beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us. Love my MicroFreak as well 👊🏼™️

loved that melody

Great Jam! U chose a good synth-combination! I like the consonance sounds from brute and freak in combination whith the po-33!
beautiful melody...thanks
Very nice. Im just getting into this electronic music stuff and seriously considering the Freak and the DB Impact as a combo.
Great jam! So nice to listen to.

This is an insane music/video sir, nice work
I mean it’s only been forty years, you’d think midi 2.0 would have fixed that shit by now. I feel your pain. Every jam session
Nearly everything else about MIDI is impressively enduring, but something about Deluge + MIDI through has been disastrous. Got a new MIDI through box on the way!
Jay Hosking for me it’s always the Kaosillator. Will not sync clock with anything- in or out
Super cool jam. I have a Microfreak, love it!, alongside a Crave, would you believe!
Your music is inspiring! Thank you :)
SO good,- The Hoskiniana is strong in this one,-
your songs are so fresh,
This video is what sold me on the drum brute.
Cool jam man
Very nice setup good beats
Killer mix dude, very inspiring.
Thank you for making my indecisive mind finally push the green light on purchasing a micro freak . Now I want a drum brute tho . Awesome jam man keep oscillating
Instant subscribe ! Great jam !
This is a great jam
This is great man, I've got the DBI and the microfreak and you've inspired me to go and have a play.
that was dope and dreamy
Great jam, the sounds really work together well!
Hell yea. I like the narrative as much as the song.
Heck of a jam. Very well done.
Great track, and your synth setup looks like an avant garde painting.
Found this vid searching a drum machine maybe Drumbrute. Sounds amazing as always, love your work.
Just got a DBI to go with my MF, so glad to find this video.
Came to hear how gritty the Drumbrute impact can sound but stayed for the great jam, nice job man!
Great video. Love the commentary, I found it both entertaining and helpful.
Please explain the connections 😭🙏🏻
