I am glad you are ok. Very scary. I remember when Edmonton Alberta had a tornado go through twice, it was scary. I still can see the dark green sky. Anyway thanks for the update and hope your week goes well with hubby home. Take care!

New here, not to diamond painting. I have to say I've been through 3 Hurricanes and each one was while my (then)husband was out of the country. Everyone was telling me to evacuate and there was no way I could leave my pets (5 cats, 3 dogs). I stayed and had no damage to my house but the areas was hit pretty hard. No power for 9 days, no generator (I did go out and get one which wasn't easy). After the divorce I swore I'd never live in hurricane country and I haven't. All that to say I am so glad you had someone with you and the damage was minimal. Nights were worse for me because I was alone. Blessings to your family during the moving process (I've done that plenty too).

Glad to hear everyone is fine. Sometimes I feel like the more information u have the more confusing it can get. Sometimes it's better to just pack up, sell and donate what is left and go because the information can cause u to delay the move more. It's a good idea to have a pre-approval for a mortgage in Canada. I placed an order last week and of the 5 kits i got 1 was preorder but i can wait easily. The preorder is beautiful and i got the 2nd painting from that series this week from DAC new release
I don’t mind having the pre-approval, but with the way the mortgages work in Canada, I think we want a much smaller mortgage so that we don’t have to worry about prepayment penalties. Thanks for watching!!

Hi Daphne! So glad things are okay weather-wise for you and the family. Seems like every time I watch American news/weather. I just see a big red blob in the middle of the country and thought of you. Glad things are progressing with the move. Yes mortgages are completely different in Canada. I got my last renewal right before Covid and got a rate of 2.6% for 5 years, it opens up in 2025, and hopefully I’ll be able to pay it off rather than renew at 6 or 7%. Your JWall looks amazing! I just finished Aquarius for the JWall event, and it only had 49 colors and I found it very confetti heavy!! Take care and have a great week, hope it’s productive for both of your lives 😊❤️ from 🇨🇦
So maybe it would make more sense financially to sell our house and then take out a much smaller mortgage on whatever we decide to buy. Renting sounds like much less of a headache, even though it’s not my preference. Thanks for sharing!!
Forgot to mention most banks renew your mortgage at the 5th year. The less years plus whatever you amount you put towards your principal at the end of each year will lesson your payment and avoid paying more interest.
I've made really good progress (for me) on my "Heart of the Tree". I plan on working on it tomorrow. (Memorial Day). I still think I can get it done by the end of the month.

Many retirement plans allow an option to withdraw funds specifically if you are buying a house (or have major medical bills). It is something that you have to specifically ask for/state, may be worth inquiring about.

Good morning 😁 hope your move goes smoothly when the time comes. I’m from Canada and if you pay off your mortgage before the mature date they will charge you a penalty. Every bank is different on what they charge which is ridiculous but that’s how they make interest. I suggest get your mortgage loan less years but yes it’ll make your payment higher. After each year your allowed to put a certain amount towards the loan. Where I’m from you can put max $20,000 towards the principal each year. You can do this each year until it’s paid in full avoiding having to pay the penalty. Also when you sell your house it could be your reserve until life gets stable in Canada and not have to feel stress. This is just my suggestion. I’m not a mortgage holder for me I’d rather rent to avoid having the hassle of upgrades n such. Sorry my comment is long hope you have a great day.
Oof, only $20K a year towards principal is crazy. Hubby and I are talking about just selling here and then buying something when we get to Canada, rather than trying to get the mortgage now. It’s weird, cuz it’s the exact opposite of what makes sense here. 😂 Thanks for sharing!!
My Husband's home town got hit with a Tornado this last week also . The Tornado hit the Hospital and the Nursing home where his Mom was at . Luckily his Mother is ok . We had to make arrangements for her to go to a nearby Nursing facility. They are saying that it will probably take the summer to get the residents back . Stay Safe and Good luck with your move.
