- Director Wes Ball breathes new life into the global, epic franchise set several generations in the future following Caesar’s reign, in which apes are the dominant species living harmoniously and humans have been reduced to living in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader builds his empire, one young ape undertakes a harrowing journey that will cause him to question all that he has known about the past and to make choices that will define a future for apes and humans alike.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” is directed by Wes Ball (the “Maze Runner” trilogy) and stars Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay is by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”) and Patrick Aison (“Prey”), based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver, and the producers are Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Jason Reed (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.

@@SpinoSam I’m pretty sure it’s not in the same universe. Caesar was completely different in the original film series. And the ape’s rise was completely different in Conquest.
The way this franchise has been handled and treated is remarkable this is story telling and world building at its very best .
well well well
That's why the trilogy with Caesar worked so well because of the care that went into the storytelling and world building and this one looks like it following in its footsteps.
Ya. Deep down though. I wish that humanity at least didn’t turn into grug mode. I get that’s the key plot in the role reverse of man and ape. Except the few cases in the older films. However I feel in how they progressed humanities downfall feels so lack luster. In the sense everyone became stupid cause of the virus off screen. Or the last gasp of cognitive and organized humanity died in a landslide in the 2nd film. I hope maybe we see competent tribal humans or maybe a small population of unaffected smart humans. but not just cave men people ya know?
Wholeheartedly agree. I've rarely been able to find anything much wrong in any of the previous films. This looks amazing.
And this new one has zero of the other creative leads, so we'll see what happens.
The fact that they fully can talk now is wild seeing how it started. This looks great hope it doesn’t disappoint.
The fact that they went from Sign Language to fully speaking is already disappointing to me. Non-human apes using Sign Language is a much cooler concept to me, and them using it in the 1st and 2nd movie was awesome.
I'm still gonna give the movie a chance, though. It might turn out better than what the trailer shows.
@@krystallvinter7438 It's called evolution chief
@@krystallvinter7438I have to disagree with that massively. One of the best parts of the trilogy is seeing the apes naturally progress over the story in terms of how human-like they were, and this continues the trend. This franchise is totally under appreciated. Some of the best films in recent years.
Because it doesn't fit in the mainstream Hollywood narrative.

I love this. Takes the original and puts it in the apes' point of view. Can't wait.
If that's Cornelius who we are following for the whole story, man they did a good job of giving him his dads face. We miss you Caesar...🙏
APES TOGETHER STRONG!!!
It’s gotta be right
I want them to get this right so bad!
The Planet of the Apes trilogy means so much to me. Happy to see this is getting a theatrical release, as it should. We will be seated.
This movie combines the Andy Serkis trilogy, in which this movie takes place in, with the original movies in a perfect way.
I just saw this preview a couple of days ago in the theater for the first time and jumped out of my seat lol. I'm so happy that they decided to keep it going
This is EVERYTHING I hoped this series would lead to back when the first movie came out in 2011. They took their time crafting this world and it paid off in spades. This is how you build a franchise properly.
This ip has been going strong since the 60s…

The rebooted trilogy (Rise-Dawn-War) is honestly one of the greatest series/reboots out there. It’s incredible to see the films that Matt Reeves finished finally being intertwined to the original Planet of the Apes ‘68 now👏
Name one more great reboot trilogy.
@@t.jclarke5984 Dark Knight trilogy - others like Star Wars and Jurassic World have been disappointing
@@graythurman4506 you didnt name a reboot... this trilogy also isnt a reboot but a prequel to the original movie
@@crazyunclecrispy6140 The Dark Knight movies were a full on reboot. Star Wars and Jurassic World were legacy sequels or “soft reboots” that didn’t pan out the way Planet of the Apes did. The only reason I called Planet of the Apes a reboot is that they told a new story that ignored the previous films. But you’re right, the new Apes movies are in fact prequels to the original film.
@@graythurman4506 the dark knight trilogy wasnt a reboot as it was not related to previous batman movies in any way.
I love Planet Of The Apes. Literally all the movies. Such a great franchise. Can’t wait for this one!!!
Really love this reboot, they are well written and world feel so real. I also like the delay between movies as it lets them stand on their own and feels like a real progression of time between movies
so glad it wasnt rushed out each year cant agree more
This is the first time I’ve ever heard anyone praise a series for taking its time between movies, but I agree. Usually it’s “weh they took too long me am bored weh”.
if marvel took their time we'd still be getting great pieces of art. @@commandercaptain4664
@@commandercaptain4664 I think it helps that they've done a really good job of making each movie a stand-alone movie. Each one feels complete and they don't tease the next sequel. I didn't even know they were making another installment until I came across this trailer just now.
That’s true
Astonishing, this is one of those movie franchises that doesn’t have a bad movie. I have a feeling that the fourth iteration will live up to its expectations.
How genius of them to deliver such a carefully crafted prequel series leading up to the Charlton Heston version. They took their time for a massive pay off that I think will be worth the wait. I love every bit of these prequel/sequels. Can’t wait.
@@RyanM95 bummer. Thanks for the info.
@Facefully. great Scott! Gotta love time travel.
In the original Caesar was seen as an ancient god. I’m curious to see where the writers go with this.
@RyanM95 Yes it is, they are literally prequels, the writers said they intended them to be and clearly set up the original film in Rise, War, and now Kingdom. You can tell that Kingdom is set relatively recently before it. They are prequels while ignoring the sequels to the original film
@@BerryHaze_ I’m pretty sure they’re not connected, those old films got really convoluted after awhile, I’d be willing to bet that one of these films in this new trilogy, I’m sure they’re making will be a proper reboot of the original film
The fact that the apes are able to speak so fluently really shows how evolved they have become
The shot of the ape looking into the telescope around 1:15 is awesome
I did not expect it, but before the teaser started, I knew it gonna be epic.
WHAT A WONDERFUL DAY!
I honestly don’t think this would be anywhere near as exciting if we didn’t have the first three movies to build such a great foundation. I’m excited and ready to watch this.

Apes together strong
this series will always be goosebump-inducing. Such well-balanced, thoughtful sci-fi!
I am beyond excited for this. The Planet of the Apes franchise has been the only series that has nailed expanding its lore through both the art of filmmaking and storytelling. The Reboot Trilogy is my favorite reboot/remake/requel/whatever-quel ever made. Plus all the POTA films (outside of the 2001 film) are fantastic in their own ways.
Can't wait to see what's next.
It's official. The Planet Of The Apes is no longer a trilogy anymore. It is now ... A FRANCHISE!
It's going to be so weird having one of these without Caesar and it'll be hard having a main character that can match him. But this is promising, looks like they've still got the heart and that emotional core to the story that made the prior trilogy so incredible. The visuals look as amazing as ever. So excited.
I bet you we will see a ceaser appearance through a vision or a dream in either this film or another upcoming one.

I actually watched the 2011 trilogy yesterday not knowing a new one was coming out. Rip Ceaser, the one who pioneered it all. I still get chills first time he said "no". I'll definitely be watching this when it drops
The entire story line of Planet of the Apes have been great so far throughout the years, I can't wait to see how they will finalize the series and I'm definitely going to miss Caesar.
In a way his legacy will live on through the orangutan character, who seems to me like a religious prophet who learned the gospel of Caesar. That emblem around his neck has the symbol of hope that Caesar created. Similar to the crucifix of christianity.
@@StoicSurvivor99 is this a new trilogy after war the planet of the apes?? not sure
@@havok9001 pretty much, yeah. Either takes place a few centuries or few decades after.
@jaketryon7756 that's not the same person mate. This is set generations later
@@troysills425 I SAID the orangutan has strong reverence to Caesar and wants to safe guard his legacy for what he did for his people like what Moses did for his people. Passing down that knowledge to the apes for generations to come. I know that's NOT Caesar.
This... this is what I want to see. Rather than just rebooting, continue where the prequels left off. I want to see more of the world of Planet of the Apes. A world rules by apes and humans as the lower species, with some apes showing compassion. Apes developing their own cultures and even wars with each other. No time travel shenanigans. Just a natural order of evolution becoming revolution and revolution becoming retribution.

@@Oblogonogorise even showed the astronauts going into space
Considering how good the last 3 where, this will be a must watch. It looks amazing. Love the time period it seems to cover as well.
What I really love about this so far is that we don't even know where this movie will be set. Even though we can see buildings, the remnants of human civilization, they've become so unrecognizable at this point because of the utter disrepair and the greenery that had thoroughly conquered it. It is another metaphor of how far humanity has fallen and how much Nature has punished humanity for trying to control it (as the Colonel so eloquently put it in War), for even its own legacy has become just as broken and primitive.
This looks to have so much potential and promise, and I hope it can live up to what Rupert Wyatt started and what Matt Reeves built upon.
You are good with your words, 😊👌
