    honestly when L got killed, personally i was super curious to see what happened next. im not sure if other people just werent that curious or werent satisfied with how things went, but it was clear that with his death, things were bound to change. i personally think it held up pretty well, especially when compared to other second acts after a massive character death, and i agree many of the same elements (no pun intended) were still present. plus, anybody who stopped watching after L's death missed some crucial character moments and development

      L dying was the end. The cannon end. The writers pretty much confirmed this. The extra show after that was just the publisher forcing them to make more.

    Something has always bothered me about the "tiny TV inside a bag of chips" scene. The fact that... Light can't really see the TV from that angle. He would have to lean over in a way that would look super suspicious on camera.
    Plus, did the audio equipment not pick up the TV's noise? If it's audible for Light, L should've at least heard some suspicious, muffled mumbling.

    • @ThePreciseClimber
      @ThePreciseClimber Год назад +1

      @@Chaosic This is a terrible argument.
      Viewing angle is basic common sense, it's not some highly advanced quantum physics shit.

      Ok so. I just want to say that in defense of preciseclimber, logic and the establishing of rules is a lot more important in a show like death note where so much of the plot revolves around the characters trying to deceive each other using logic and making use of rules that have been established. Secondly let's remember to keep conversation civil and not get too antagonistic. Thirdly to address the first comment about the angle that he's looking in, I found that to be feasible actually, and the most i can say about that is it's a bit farfetched how he managed to see the TV. About the audio, I don't think light was listening to the audio. He was just watching the screen and the names and faces of the criminals he killed were shown visually. The names would have to be shown because he needs to spell it corelrectly in the death note for it to have an effect.

    • @etheri0n959
      @etheri0n959  Год назад +2

      @@Chaosic yeah, but if you're going to make a story with this kind of premise at all. You should probably make sure the logic is airtight in the situations that you write. It is a failing of the author if they aren't able to do that and the show's writing is flawed as a result. Also my reminder to be civil wasn't singling you out or anything it was just a reminder because things were getting pretty hostile here.

    • @ThePreciseClimber
      @ThePreciseClimber Год назад

      @@etheri0n959 Good point about the audio.
      However, I'm still sceptical on the viewing angle. The scene shows us that Light is sitting perfectly straight the entire time and the TV is somewhere in the middle of the bag.
      I mean, try recreating that scenario in real life with a bag and your phone and I don't think it would work. The viewing angles just don't add up.
      Plus, I know that micro cameras weren't super advanced back in 2003 but I think there would've been a high chance of L noticing an obvious, bright glow coming out of a dark bag of chips.
      Granted, the scene isn't as mind-boggling as, say, Walter White blowing up an entire floor of a building with magic crystals and just walking it off, but still.

    i dont understand why but i did not feel anything except curiosity watching death note up until the end when i got excited that they finally caught kira. I was watching L fall off his chair with a blank expression. I really dont understand why, every other anime ive seen has made me feel many things.
    But still im thinking about death note way more in depth than i have of other animes in the past, It is a story i will remember for the rest of my life.

    • @etheri0n959
      @etheri0n959  Год назад +3

      Not saying this is the case, but it might have something to do with the way death note completely desensitizes you to the concept of death. People are dropping left and right in pretty much every episode so once it becomes common place, it isn't really that shocking or emotional anymore. That kind of effect is pretty awesome to me since it puts you into the headspace of light and some of the people living in this world

    I find this interesting cause I really dislike Araki’s directing most of the time he’s just way too over the top in a way that makes things pull me out rather than feel suspenseful or tense for me. This is more the case in aot where you just have random speedlines as people yell in this overly loud presentation. I actually unironically like Irie’s boring flat directing a little more than Araki’s which to me feels like the Zack Snyder of anime. As such I definitely prefer the manga of death note over the anime.
    And this isn’t even to say over the top is always bad in directing (I absolutely love Imaishi’s and Tsurumaki’s directing styles as well as Shinbo’s and Kawajiri’s) I just usually don’t like how Araki approaches it and have trouble getting through his shows because of this.

    I like the 2nd half overall but It honestly sucks most of the content with Near and Mello from the manga was cut when the anime was being made because had Madhouse not done that I honestly think the 2nd half would’ve been better received. Mello in particular got it the worse between the 2.

  • @ThePreciseClimber

    I'd say the 2nd half is better in the manga. The anime just kinda rushed that shit. Gave it 11 episodes when it would've been 20 if they kept the same pacing as Part 1.

      To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand death note. The story is extremely complex, and without a solid grasp of the plot most of the ideas will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also L's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these ideas, to realise that they're not just interesting- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike death note truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Ryuks addiction to apples which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Tsugumi Ohba's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
      And yes, by the way, i DO have a death note tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
