good recipe. I'd add the already cooked tuna at the very end to warm it up. just not sure why you would want to cook the tuna for another 20 mins. it's already overcooked in the can.
Same for garlic - just add another clove at the very end, so it would get in between of raw and cooked. This will be of different taste, than first you added. BTW, I do not cut onion so fine, that is not at all needed. Slice onion to half, then give each another cut, parallel to the earlier, lay down and slice with 5-6 cuts. Layers of onion will separate in pan, chunks will shrink and likely melt with this long cooking.

Guten Appetit! 😋
As a Portuguese person I have never seen this dish in my life, especially with the Parmigiano at the end. However, it does look like a cheap, easy, and delicious meal.
I’ve been married to Portuguese man for nearly 60 years. His mother taught me how to cook tomato rice. I cook with chicken stock, not wine. Don’t use tuna. It’s an option.
i cook this also, however i prefer to have the rice cooked extra, much faster and easier, i also use lots of onions with the sauce, then i serve the rice with butter on top and chopped dill, and then the sauce on top of it :) this way the sauce can cook properly long which is allways necessary when using tomatopaste, if using enough oil and also sharp habanero chilli it forms this wonderfull "red oil" on top and then the dry rice can wonderfully soak it up, spoon by spoon. if you put the rice uncooked inside it becomes mushy and its much harder to get it soft...its much easier to cook the rice extra...that way you can also know the exact amount of water which is allways 1 portion of rice:2 portions of water.
I’ve been making this for over 30 years LOL. Except I boil the rice when I’m preparing the rest of the dish and add it when cooked. Saves a lot of time. I’ve never added peas. But do add fresh Ginger, turmeric, curry powder and Italian herbs. Gives it a unique flavour. Cheap, cheerful and yummy.
Yep, I do the boil in bag rice too. Makes it a lot faster/more convenient to make for me. I never knew it was popular in portugal, I just did it as a poor single guy fresh out of college.

Have a beautiful day! 🥰
Tuna and rice is a pretty normal Portuguese home dish, I confirm.
Can add banana to it, or even eggs.
Ohh !! Banana sounds nice ! Would you still cook tomato sauce or use something else ? When would banana be added
@@dinavienna no you just rice mix tuna cut banana slices, boiled eggs and beans if ur hungry.. super food for real cheap
@@KevinColt thanks!
Looks lovely. Will be trying this. Thank you ❤️
Looks awesome. I have to try it now. Love the bg music too
Thank you 🥰 glad you like it 🤗

My grandmother is from St Jorge . I swear she used tomato’s in everything. This looks delicious
QUE RICO SE VE Y MUY FACIL!!!!!!!!!!
This looks amazing! Can't wait to try it. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
Made this recipe from this video with chicken and peppers. Loved it! 👌
How many of you use the can to add water etc.? I remember my vavao adding little water to spaghetti sauce jar and shaking it to get it all lol
My mom used to do it so I do it too ❤
The sauce is similar to the one that I have with pasta, except that I first fry the tuna in a pan until it gets brown(er), add the wine to loosen any sticking residue, add the onion/garlic mix and wait until they are softened, now adding tomatoes etc… btw, not sure about adding the frozen peas to the mix (will defrost them in the microwave before). Alternatively I'd think that broccoli would be nice as well!?
Thx for sharing yours 👊😀👍
thx for the blog. you may need to google frozen peas.
🎉
What can you recommend as a veggie alternative to tuna. Dish looks lovely...
Wakame
I thought i was the only one who washed there tins out with a little water to add to the stock lol
😆 I've learned this from my father who is a chef 😎😃
Everyone on a budget does this to avoid waste and maximise value.
I have been doing this also for 50 years now!
I didn't realise there was any other way to get the entire contents of the can out.......
YUMMY YUMMY SARA!
Probiere ich heute gleich aus.❤
This looks so yummy 🤗
Thanks 🤗
Hallo!
Also natürlich immer den Reis vorher waschen 😇.
@@Marcel-uo9xn Koch für was ?
It looks great and very delicious, I will definitely make this recipe at home, thank you my friend ❤❤❤❤
Bravissima 🥰🥰💖💖
I made it! And it’s tasty ❤ thank you. And hello from Israel
Thanks for your feedback 😃🥰! Glad that you enjoyed it 😋. Greetings to beautiful Israel 😍💝
Bravissima!👋👋
Simple ingredientes... it's definitely delicius. I'll try it! 😋
LOVE IT!❤
This is the exact type of dish I cook when I haven't gone shopping, and just create a meal from what's in the larder - apart from the green peas, I've made this dish without knowing it was a dish. 😂😂
Koch ich auch !
