I have heard of people doing it like this but you’d definitely need a ramp as the car would need to go a lot higher and it would need securing to a lifting table to ensure it doesn’t move as you’re lowering it. To be honest a lot of the removal would still need to be done to free it and the wiring would be more difficult to undo with the front still in place so to be honest although it may represent a time saving it would mean I need a ramp etc so it wouldn’t save the customer money due to increased workshop costs. Cheers
@garycevrepairs I was just looking at the new electric Ford Transit. It would be a dream to work on compared to that Cleo. I love the look and size of the Cleo but they look like a right pain to work on but if the bearings need changing every 100k I could live with that .
Do Renault Kangoo ZEs also have this weak drive motor bearing issue? I think the facelifted 2018-2021 model year Kangoos are supposed to have the ZOE drive motor in them?
Hi yes they do share the 5AQ Zoe motor tho I believe they are capped at a lower power output and I haven’t heard of any having this issue. It’s a less common vehicle than the Zoe tho so it’s hard to tell. Cheers
Hello. I have a Renault Zoe q210. There is noise in the engine. I replaced the bearings in the gearbox and electric motor, but the noise did not disappear. When I move in reverse, there is practically no noise. Can you help me?
ruclips.net/video/feMkR1zBVOg/видео.htmlsi=MfiF1MTfPYlbm_Mx Hey Gary. Did you see JP’s video /issue with his high miles ZE50. What’s your thoughts on that case? His HEVRA garage couldn’t fix it as couldn’t get the bearings and the rotor was snorting on the windings. I was shouting at the screen saying “Gary could fix that!” 😅
Haha thanks for the link. It’s hard to be certain without seeing the motor if it was definitely fixable as the rotor has been dragging on the stator but they really should have replaced both bearings and I get them from a European company so no need to go to the US. It’s good to see garages getting stuck in and even though he’s making a bit of a hoo ha about it (to get views) at the end of the day the car got fixed and it had done plenty of miles so tbh it’s lasted pretty well and it’s still on the road so I think that’s good!!! Cheers
Have you tried dropping the engine/gearbox without removing the front of car assembly

Amazing explainations. Thanks. How many miles on this powertrain ?
Hi 71k
Can't you do a rebuild and film all the process?
Hi I did a time lapse previously but a motor removal plus bearing swap is a 10-12 ish hours job!

Bit hard to diagnose without seeing it I’m afraid. Are you uk based?
No. I live in Ukraine.
I can send a video if needed.
There are some good EV repair places in Ukraine!
