Each update was functional and warm. Your space is infinitely cozier. Onions and potatoes in the same basket? No, no, no. Onions produce ethylene gas which causes the potatoes to sprout faster. Unless you want to plant them, store potatoes and onions separately.
You most likely have plaster and lathe, and there are indeed studs. You can’t use one of those types of stud finders, you have to use the super basic one with the magnet in it. Make pencil marks when your magnet hits a nail and take note of a pattern of vertical marks and there’s your stud!
I love the apartment updates! Intentionally furnishing a new home, diy home projects and your adaptation to off-the-road living are all very interesting topics to me. I would also be interested in learning more about your new education pursuits.
Yes I really enjoy the "apartment diaries" so would love some more - it's all part of your life and so I personally am interested in seeing that part too. It's great to see how super you have made your kitchen with a small budget. 🦋
I truly enjoy following your adventures - whether they are fixing up the apartment to make it feel more like home or out on camping adventures. Great video!
You seem to always have a project going, and can’t sit still. Keep showing that and I’ll keep watching. Love the functional and warming touches you've added.
I have those very same curtains except in white. 💕 I bought them on the cheap at World Mkt for my previous house and brought them to our new house to adorn the guest room windows.
Command hooks are so renter friendly. I actually used them as curtain brackets and they’ve been up 7+ years. I also bought a coat rack off Amazon for coats and purses it helps to think outside the box.
I love all the reno/project videos for van/car or apartment. Your kitchen area looks so warm and no floor regrets 👍😃 Plants brings nature inside ☀️ Enjoy
I wonder if there's wire in the plaster? I live in Denver too, and around the time Denver was built, they put wire up and then slapped plaster on it. I really love your place and I'm glad that I found you recently. All hail the algorithm gods. Love your videos.
You always need to use wall plugs with a plaster wall. I always hammer in a nail to see if there is a stud but if not, just a plug and screw works well.
Hey 👋 kiddo you're so cool watching you making your surroundings wherever, whatever to make your life the way you want it to be camping/car camping ,unit/house ,you know what you want and your doing it ,Congratulations,I for one will keep following you bc you're not afraid to live your life ,ya live an ya learn 😉 GODBLESS
That looks lovely Alexandria! Love the colors and the improved functionality of the kitchen area. When it's a small kitchen, you have to make every cubic and square inch count - well done. I have plaster walls in my whole house, and have that exact same stud finder but when I use mine it actually shows me the edges of each stud without fail, and also where wiring is. In older buildings the studs are often 14" on center, or even 12" which is what mine is - lots of good lumber in my house. :) Thanks for sharing. Stay well.
Yes to apartment / on the road / general life stuff! Great job, the landlord should pay you when you move out for improving the floor and adding counter space! Just a note of warning, be careful with the toaster being underneath such low cabinets. Assuming it works in the same way that UK ones do, a lot of heat comes out of the top (altho it looked like it might have side vents so maybe it’s ok?!).
Love what you did in the kitchen! It seemed effortless for you- it would have taken me forever to decorate and it wouldn’t have been as nice - it is definitely not my thing. Love the little desk nook - it seems so cozy. Maybe you could show some of the town near you- any cute shops? Thanks for sharing.
Ooh, i'm wondering if the stud finder was picking up water pipes and wiring? Always best to know where they are!😬 Nice additions, well done. Always happy to see appt updates.
Love your changes. I think one needs to calculate what a storage space will cost times the number of months you want to store your items. It may be more cost effective to start over then to pay hundreds, or thousands of dollars to store thrifted items (even small appliances) over many months. If items are not sentimental you can always buy again.
I hear ya! I have always found storage large enough to hold my things for under $40 a month, which for the value of some of my items is more than worth it :)
Read the instructions on your stud finder! Mine works on plaster walls with highly textured walls. Put finder on wall, Push button till red light and sounds stops then move finder along the wall and it will tell you where the stud is. If you push button and start moving it will tell you the entire wall is a stud.
Did stud finder come with directions. Ones I had you needed to move it slowly to find studs. Never used over plaster only drywalll and they worked nicely. Hope your lease is more friendly than one I had in Fort Collins. Any holes made to hang items or for displays would incur a charge even if filled also resuulting in a repainting charge.
The tile I added is removable, and sadly the tiles underneath were in really bad shape, peeling and some even completely removable. When I leave, I will pull these up and leave the original ones (which actually aren’t original, but just peel and stick from when they turned this building into an apartment)
Those original tiles were BEAUTIFUL 😭
They were crappy peel and stick tiles from Home Depot 😅 pulling up and cracked everywhere
@@SheRoamsWild I’m just talking about the design, I know you said they were falling apart but the design went with the space sooo well

It would look lovely if you make a sink skirt using the orange curtain.
There are studs, but those types of walls are called plaster and lathe. Generally wall anchors work with them

Love that little corner by the window. Good job!
The apartment videos are nice. I especially like your choice of black floor tiles.👍
Life changes, so being adjustable makes your life a lot easier. Everything you did looks great. One day at a time is all we are responsible for.
Love the orange curtains, fruit basket, bargain desk - you’ve a great eye.
I like what you've done. The curtains are really cute with that nice pop of color. I like the floor also, much better. ❤

Wow! You did such a great job on the kitchen makeover. That was fun to watch :-D
Right off the bat, sounds like my wood floors, lol.

Great video. Thanks Alex. Your place is really cute.
For stud finding try small magnets to find the nails or screws.

Great job in utilizing what u had on hand.

I love all your videos!!!
With lath and plaster walls, you need to get an old school magnetic stud finder. It will pick up where the lath is nailed into the studs. 🙂
Looks awesome!!!!
Great job on ur creation 👍👍
Great job!
If you don’t think there’s studs use toggle bolts
So cute! I love those hanging baskets, where did you find them? Thks
Great video
BTW! Love your new appliances!
I loved this video❤
How is Tara doing??
Your kitchen looks great🎉
Good job!
Please tell me about your coffee maker. Does it use any grind? How long does it take to make? Never seen this before. Thanks
Good video!
Great job! Keep it up 😊
Thank you! Will do!
Hay there that’s looking good and you are looking great and how is your dog doing LOVE YOU 🌹🌹❤
I have the same stud finder and mine is so aggravating too
I have never seen that brand of coffee pot before, I am in need of one do you really like it and where did you get it?
Hi. Where’s the kitchen tiles from? Link please?
Behind most plaster walls are usually wood similar to lattice, could be possible why your finding alot of wood
Please do a vlog about the realities of living in Denver.
May be I lost/miss it but what about your job interview?, that you speak about a long time ago... was it successful...?
An option for decorating would be to put a puzzle together, glue it and frame it.
Where did you buy your money tree? I want to get one 😊 thanks
Home Depot, actually!
Thank you 😊
Hey there beautiful how are you? You do so good at your camera angles and music and you look so happy 🫶😍
New subscriber.
Nice place and hi beautiful
There is an app that you can use on cell phone that you can see studs
Oooh cool! Thank you!
If you invert the L brackets, they are hidden better.
I hear you! I just wanted to make sure that they had the necessary support to not rip out of the walls, haha, but maybe it was overkill :)
What ever happened to living in a truck?
WHAT ABOUT YOUR YEARS LEASE ARE YOU NOT GOING TO HONOR IT YOU JUST GOT THERE
Do you have to ?
That’s way too many shots to set up before coffee.
The floors were vintage beauties. What a shame..
