I’ve got to say I have avoided watching this one because I knew it would be TMI . Curiosity got me though and bloody glad it did, funny you mentioned bladder weakness because I’ve pissed my self laughing 😆😂😂😂😂
Girl me too!!! I don't even have kids ! I'm gonna be 42, and I've laughed so hard that a few drops of pee came out! Not enough to wet myself, but enough that I changed my panties 😳🤭😅 . Hey this is a tmi thread right? Glad I'm not alone hahaha
I don't concider it TMI. We are all women here, I assume. So we all deal with the same stuff and every man that finds himself here, can maybe learn a thing or two. I am a woman who hardly ever had female friends and therefore no one to speak to about any problems. My last bf was one of those AHs that thought it was gross to bleed. When I confronted him, he denied it. But yes, I should have gotten rid of him sooner than I did. May he rest in hell. We need to talk more among women. But to do it on camera deserves quite some courage. Cos that is personal. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Well done!
I almost never comment on videos, so this is a big deal for me personally. Well done for proper realist consumer advice and really putting yourself out there. I've been thinking about trying a cup but always shied away for this exact set of reasons. And above all things, THANK YOU for not being air brushed and flawless while talking about awkward feminine subjects because those people lose credibility very fast. Who the fuck is that perfect looking during their period??? I feel like you actually tried this thing during your period and this is how it went down! Well done! And your videos are are always wonderful, whether they make me laugh or they make me feel like someone sees me. :)
I’ve been in hospital with covid for nearly 3 weeks and you won’t believe how much watching this video has just made me giggle (the rest of the Ward must be wondering what I’m watching)!! I admire your sustainability attempts and thank you for the honesty and TMI 🤣
I used one for nearly a decade. I ended up flipping it inside out because that bottom piece always felt weird. Everything was great for years after I flipped it. And yes, the first time was the worst. It was SO WORTH going through the learning curve! Hang in there!
First time using mine (diva cup) it was weird and terrifying, had a sweat on, and took several attempts to get it to feel normal. But once you chill out it works a lot better and definitely easier to go in slightly wet from the tap. It took a couple of periods to get it down to an art so if it isn't working straight away don't be disheartened it may take practice to figure out the best method for your body. I can't sing praises enough for it as it has eliminated pretty much all the bad period pain and back pain I used to experience, no fear of TSS, saves so much money and a hell of a lot of plastic over a lifetime so definitely one of my best eco conscious changes I've made!
Ahhh I am so glad to hear you're loving it now, this is the kinda thing I like to hear! I have tried it twice since and it's getting better and I'm starting to work out how to get it out, but not there yet. But will keep on with it and hopefully it'll be a winner soon! Thank you for sharing lovely!
My prediction is that these cups will make tampons and pads obsolete. Personally, I adore my diva cup! Especially for intercourse and working out. Id see if you can find that brand and give it a few tries. You will never look back! Godspeed to you and your vagina!
How do you know when you need to empty it? Is it just at the end of the day? I guess you sleep with it too. I guess this wouldn’t work for me, I have a prolapse after giving birth to my son 12 years ago., I struggle with tampons. Mmmmm good money saver tho.
@gillinacook1477 For me, mine would spot when it was full. When I was younger, 6-8hrs, now I can go 12. I like reusable pads and period panties more now, I like Aisle & Bambody, respectively, for those. I've never been able to manage tampons.
The period pants have been godsend for my wife. She always had horrid rashes from pads and was terrified of tampons. We discussed trying the cups but she didn't want to try those. I ended up buying her a few pair of period pants to try and she immediately had me buy more. We experimented with several brands and the ones that worked best for her were Knix. No more rashes, they are comfortable, they hold a LOT of fluid. We have several packages of pads now unopened in the closet that may never see the light of day again. Even though they cost a lot, they are well worth it and even great for heavy discharge days.
You can always donate the pads you know she may never use to a women’s shelter. :) so glad the period underwear has worked! I have been wanting to try some myself.
Omg, you just described exactly what I went through, TERRIFYING. I was also planning to tell my boyfriend that it was going to be me, him and the cup from now on... I am a sustainability freak so I still want to give it a try. In a couple of years. Once I overcome the trauma. Thanks for sharing ❤
When I first used my cup, I put it in and INSTANTLY took it right out as it felt so uncomfortable. I decided to try it a bit later when the initial shock had worn off and use mine all the time now and have for close to a year. There are still times when it just doesn't sit right and I get that same feeling you speak of and I get it out and redo it. It also took me awhile to fully trust it
Ah that is so good to hear! I think in a way it's similar to using tampons for the first time, only a little more alien, but you can get those wrong for sure. Glad to hear you can get used to it! I'm excited to give it another go now
Took a few cycles for sure. And i usually wait til the second day of my period to put my saalt in just because the positioning isnt quit comfy yet.. @@hayleymorris
Before I had my full hysterectomy due to a cancer diagnosis, I used one of those (though the brand name was Diva Cup) I actually didn't mind it. It's like using tampons that don't have an applicator for the first few times - once you get it in the right place you know how it's supposed to feel and know if it's placed wrong and can retry. But good on you for doing this video - you did great!
It took me 4 cycles to get the hang of it & now I’m like BEST.THING.EVER. I cut my stem off. I also watched “Put A Cup In It” channel a lot. First tried Ruby cup now use SALT soft which I like a lot more. Before choosing a size you need to check where your cervix is at during different times in cycle - another thing I learned from PACII. For those trying it - You can do it! Don’t give up!
Yep, BEST THING EVER. Also took me around 4 cycles to get it right. Then it finally clicked and now I wouldn't miss it for the world. Life changer, hands down. I never managed to get used to tampons, they just felt awful, no matter what I tried. The cup is sitting there, doing its business and not bothering me. LOVE it.
I love my cup. First time I couldn't figure out how to insert this, but after a few attempts, I managed to insert. Now it's my favorite thing. I've been using the cup for over 5 years. No going back to other products.
I've only found your channel a week or so ago, and I am SO glad I did! You're amazing, Haley! Great scripts, the editing is PERFECT, the humor is bang-bang-bang, and although I'm a dinosaur-era CIS-guy (with a teenage daughter) I can really relate to the 'distress' you portray over some of the issues. GREAT work!!
I am watching this now after all of your absolutely amazing short form hilarious shorts and it's like a little origin story to me, and I love it! PS - As someone who just immediately took to menstrual cups and has always found it challenging to convince my friends its worth trying, I find your descriptions of the challenges very illuminating and helpful to my conversations with my menstruating friends!
Your sense of humor is great on any subject you talk about. The woman's hygiene products reminds me of watching "Dirty Love" with my wife, and scene at the store(clean up on isle 4). We laughed so hard, because it made light of things that are embarrassing, and every one has felt ashamed. If you can't laugh at your self what's the point. Love your videos.
Warning 😱 if you have an IUD, don't use a menstrual cup!!! Sorry, feels weird throwing it out here, but I've had this combination (loved it, no hormones, no trash, it was lovely) but apparently you can very easily pull out your IUD (without even noticing it) it got me pregnant, which I really tried to avoid 😔 down at the abortion clinic (which was a horrible thing to go through even though I was very sure I do not want to become a mother) there was a girl next to me in the exact same situation.. We both did not notice the IUD getting pulled out. Studies have come out more and more in the past year about this, and doctors are starting to warn women that this is a big risk. Just wanted to put it out here, and hopefully maybe help someone to not get in the same trouble as I was. ... That being said, I really enjoy your videos, you've got me laughing out loud every time with your body parts talking to each other, it's so on point, you're really funny, and I wish you all the best in your life and comedy career 💛
Thank you for this information! I've had my IUD for almost exactly 8 years now (no issues) and I've contemplated using a menstrual cup because I have some friends who swear by them.
Team Period Panties 😂 I am disabled in both hands and have grip issues and yeah, you can juuuuust imagine how that would go. Hard pass, saving myself the trauma.
I'm SO glad you posted this video!! Lots of women get embarrassed about it and it shouldnt be that way.. i am in the process of ordering some reusable pads and pants to give them a try. Thank you for posting this, it was a great video :)
So funny I had a dream last night that I had nailed using it and loved it! I’m so glad you’re getting on with it. I’m definitely going to persist with it and hopefully that dream will be real haha
Thank you so much for this video, and honestly I always LOVE how relatable & realistic your videos are (I’m also very much a TMI person)!!!! I tried one for about a year, and almost every day of my period each month was like this for me :( So glad it’s not just ME! The only reason I even kept trying each month is because of the cost & trying to be sustainable. Love that you also HEARD the suction thing - again thought it was just me. I also really appreciate that you look “real” today with the acne on your chin LOL. Love from Canada!!!
I had a partial hysterectomy at 29 years old. The one good thing about it was no more periods. I think it is great you did this video. Looking at your comments I think you helped others. Good job!!
I had both ovaries have cysts and explode and one removed and by 34 basically catapulted full blown into menopause. I did not miss the monthly periods. But i had 2 kiddos so I was ready.
Oh god this had me in absolute stitches!!! Just what I needed on a dreary lockdown weekend 🤣🤣 I appreciate that humour wasn’t perhaps the primary purpose and the educational side of it was actually really helpful!
🤣🤣🤣 I experienced exact same thing! Yes, got sucked into the depths of the abyss and panic began to set in!! I’ve decided to just keep it for when the end of the world comes and we can’t find normal products. I got my daughter one, too, so we could at least have a laugh! You’ve definitely become my favorite channel. Thanks for the morning laughs with my coffee!!
I had a terrible time first time. I thought it was stuck up there forever. It gave me worse cramps for the first time. I was determined to get it to work , and it took about 2 to 3 cycles for me to adjust. I've been using it now for 6 years now and will never go back to pads and tampons. Heavy days I use period pants and the cup. It has seriously changed my period and given me that week back.
My experience was frustrating as well and due to very heavy cycles I need something more because it did overflow and there was major leakage and that was using a large cup , 30 ml capacity. Anyways, now days I use the disc and that has saved me a lot of frustration. Thanks for the raw honesty, had a good giggle !!! Thanks for keeping it real😜
i'm in the middle of going thru menopause at the moment. i've waited for this time since i was 12 years old! i don't think i could ever use a cup. that's just too much of handling and seeing it. and yeah, i'd lose it. lol. i did get convinced to try cloth pads, so i made myself a few. they are SO much more comfortable than commercial pads! i wish i had tried them decades ago. thanks for your perspective. i've REALLY been enjoying your shorts. video shorts, that is.
"In my mouth" were definitly not words I thought I would hear in this video😂💀💀🤣🤣🤣 love it! The plastic was my reason too. And I know from movies and stuff that tampons in the US have these whole huge plastic around them to insert them. And I was like....??? What? What for? You have a finger, you can feel your body and not hurt you with some strange plastic object.. Our tampons are wrapped in plastic. Very tight, little, water rejecting foil. But there are some companies who sell them in paper. They were not on the shelfs for too long. Sadly, cos I likes them. Can't wait for the underwear video now😅
There is such a steep learning curve to menstrual cups. It took me about 3 months to feel like I got it in the right place. You're not alone in being traumatized in the beginning. That being said, I swear by them now. They make that time of the month so much easier, almost forgettable. One piece of advice: when taking it out, "bear down" (push like you are taking a poo). It brings the cup low enough to squeeze. And I still use lube to put it in place. It isn't necessary anymore, but it makes it a heck of a lot easier and more comfortable. Don't give up!
Hayley, I thought you were pretty with make-up, but now I discover you are even prettier without it, and look like a teenager. So funny 😮😁☺ I love how honest, open and hilarious you are explaining things, I am so glad I found you. You made me laugh even when my dad passed away, and those were really bad times for me. I was very lacking in the sense of humour department.
Thank you for your honesty. I bought one, tried to insert, couldn't, was crazy stressed and felt like I was failing myself and the environment for like an hour. Buy then I called my bestie and she was like, "is this the hill you want to die on?". Honestly, when you look at what's really a threat to the earth, its not tampons. I use more plastic buying lunch everyday, or office waste at work. So, I know tons of women that swear by them...but I don't care. I'm just a woman trying to function and live with a period, I am not adding more to my plate by trying to save the earth every month. I didn't like it, it was stressful at an already stressful time, it's not going to save the rain forest. I'll pass. I personally don't need to put a sippy cup in my vagina to feel like a good person. I'll pass.
My daughter has one and although I have had a hysterectomy and no longer need these things....curiosity killed the cat here! Just had to know! 🤣 I had a similar experience with the diaphragm...do they even use them anymore???! It flew across the room and was full of dust and stuff! 😰 I tried one more time after that but not that day! 🤣 I just could not get it where it needed to be with most of the same things you had done!!! Love the videos! The shorts are hilarious! I have not laughed like that in quite awhile. Shared them. You should share these things because it helps some of us who have similar circumstances to know we are not alone. ❤
I've been using a cup for years and I love it. The first few tries are complicated, but honestly, I'll never go back. If you do some kegols (not sure on spelling) while taking the cup out, it helps push it down so you can get it out easier.
I think this is beautiful that you are sharing your experience. I am still figuring out how to use my cup. I am using organicup, and the first one I used was the mini size, but it leaked. Then I used the A size but it gave me horrible period cramps, so I went back to a mini size and it fitted perfectly and it never leaks now. I think that if the cup is too big it actually migh be painfull and make you even sick, this is what I have experienced. By the way I am using a punch down fuld and this is easier for me. When taking it out you can use your stomach mussels to kind of birth it out before reaching with your fingers, and it might be helpful.
Glad to see this video lol I thought it was just me. I had a horrible time using the cup. Exactly my experience. Pain using it and was so difficult to get it out. Never used one again.
I had a similar experience just with my usual heavy bleeding, which is awful when you finally get the cup out and a tone of blood ist running over your hands... I used it only during the one period and then never again.
😂 Thank you for the straight talk! I had a similar experience my first time. The Softcups brand is more of a flexible disk that sits more comfortably for me. But, I love period pants as well. It may get easier with practice. But, if the discomfort continues, please be seen by a doctor and discontinue use of the cup. You’re body and comfort are even more important than the environment.
My first experience with the cup, was just like yours. It was so scary, but I got the courage some how to try again, and I got better at it for every time. First time was the worst.
Oh dear, this is so amusing somehow :D I have been using a menstrual cup since I was probably 15 years old and I don't rememer my first time with it. Big perk for me: It does not dry me out while not having that gross feeling of blood trickling out of you (sorry). I have been using a MeLuna and then a Merula, because my flow got very heavy since I got an IUD. Sadly the cup might have been part of the reason why my IUD was rejected by my body, now I have another one and I am strongly adviced not to use any cups because of the suction. So I use panties and reusable washable pads, but every time blood trickles down there, I cringe and I hate it. Maybe I might try out a menstrual disk, since they don't require suction...
The cup is the best decision I ever made with period products. I love it, it actually makes me look forward to having my period...I know strange. It has a learning curve, but after 3 periods I felt very comfortable with it. I always bled through with pads and tampons, but with the cup it doesn't happen. I still always wear a panty liner just in case cause I have had occasional leaks, but that is only when I dont have it in and sealed correctly. After using it awhile you really learn more how to insert, use, and remove it in the correct way for yourself. Its like anything else everyone has their own way of doing it. Don't give up after one bad experience, you may end up really liking it.
Omg😢 Hayley, thank you so much for sharing this story. I've been really willing to try a cup, for a few years already, but was hesitant, exactly because of what you talked about. Actually never knew that this could cause back pains 😮. I don't think I'll have the courage now 🤔
I've given up on the cup. even after 2 vaginal births I still couldn't handle it. the pain was unbearable. I was advised to switch to a smaller cup and I basically experienced everything you just described with the smaller cup. It made my already painful periods absolutely excruciating. at one point I was in so much pain, I couldn't get off the couch to go take it out. It took 2 Midol's and a heating pad cranked on high for 30 minutes before I could move again. I felt less pain during labor. Honestly, the cup just made my endometriosis way worse. I've dealt with painful periods for 30 years and I never experienced pain like that until I tried the cup. I've heard other people rave about how amazing it is, but it didn't work for me. so I would say try at your own risk.
Sounds like it was touching your cervix. If you want to give another try, I highly suggest trying a disc. Fits like a diaphram, great for very low cervix, and its much less difficult to get right
It may have Ben touching on previous damage from the endometriosis. Just thinking about that pain makes me cringe. I’m afraid to try one of these bc I am tiny and I also have endo.
But thank you so much for just being honest 😇. It really helps to better understand what could happen and what you/we should maybe do differently next time (or for the first time).
I took struggled with a menstral cup, especially as I had really heavy periods and needed double protection. I haven't used menstral pants but do now use washable pads. So much easier to change throughout the day. Great video!
Idk if they're available everywhere, but I use the disposable discs. If you're over it with tampons, give them a try, I think they're way more comfortable, you can safely wear them longer, and imo they're easier to remove than the cups.
I’m crying with laughter 😂 I’ve had some horror stories using mine to so I so relate to this! One time being it exploding all over a family members bathroom when I tried to rinse it 🤣🤣🤣 the best thing now I’ve got to used to it 😊
Im terrifed for that reason and im a germ phobia thing the fact u rinse it with tap water using ur hands the germs in ur nails can cause staff infection in ur uterus it's why women used to die in child delivery before drs washed their hands u have one bad germ sticking ur hands up in u could cause u to get a cancer the bacteria that causes endometriosis infertility issues sti's. The bacteria in a bathroom shoved inside of u so so bad can get a strep or staff and die so this is a very scary thing u could cause all kinds of damage sticking this inside. And then does it losen or stretch ur meat stick hole because some men very small if u have to fit ur fist up in there to retrieve it that could be a big problem and the rubber silicon what does that do to the body off gassing the petroleum product from what's its made from which is scary because that will be absorbed in the cervical cannal ovarys uterus eggs leading to cancer or infecting the eggs before it's made a child then feeding into the near by organs liver kidneys spleen causing damage the liver over time could be healed but will it if it seals in a cyst encapsulating the damaged area which if u have had cysts u know that area is where the pain is the worst pain area for a well fed cyst pain so bad one thinks of suicide often because the medical society has labeled all opioids as a crisis which the only crisis is limiting people who are in need of them making them unable to get and the lawsuits that have caused the small amount of pills to go from $60 a full bottle to $1,680 for the same amount by people who are in such need of the product meaning they can no longer work so they have the added bonus of Medicaid won't pay for opioids even if u have cancer due to political warfare on its citizens big box stores refuse to even fill a legal script at all so all there is left is small time pharmacys that don't take insurance of any kind only except cash they even will fill the script otherwise there is the street dealer who has tainted pills which is what was killing the stupid kids who were never on them to begun with and there bad parents who didn't have to time to care for their kids while alive all of a sudden have all this time on their hands so they want to torcher poor pain patients and cancer patients by making agaisnt the law to have medicine grown by plant God made for us and has been on the market for over 4,000 years infact on the market as legal over the counter purchased until Regan war on citizens which lead the say no to useful drugs of medical purpose that are needed by the poor in order to continue to work the hard manual labor jobs while still allowing alcohol which causes drunk drivers who hit people with their cars causing those people to become disabled in a lifetime of pain in need of pain meds who can't get them so they are forced to decide to take their own life or buy illegal drugs off the street which can kill them because they are not regulated of what's going into them and China who is trying to take over America by buying up all the farm land putting fentynal which is made by chemicals and not by the plant because it's carfentynal by a strictnin strain method which they are putting on weed meth fake opioids pills which people think if they look like the legal stuff they feel safe in taking it where u cant die on a real prescription opioid as it takes 3,380mg of oxycodone to start a over dose but our body because it's a plant has a natural reaction to keep us alive by pumping adrenaline out which kicks it out of ur system unless u are taking a benzo for depression anxiety the fight or flight gene but these fake pills have half a zanex bar with the lethal dose of fentynal which is the killer of all the kids who feel their parents don't love them so they do drugs to deal with there repressed emotions which oddly enough sends out pain signals when u suffer brain damage and as theses kids probably started out on Marijuana which was most likely dusted for a bigger high with some benzo they are prevented as it takes like 2 weeks to get that crap out of ur system super dangerous stuff benzos they cause brain damage that causes kids to go insane have schizophrenia and shoot up a school or steal to feel anything at all because doing bad things while on a depression meds which they hand out like pez candy these days to kids and stay home moms they are at risk at doing risky behavior like breaking laws doing drugs which will harm them all so Regan could lock up black men legally as to enslave them and be able to buy up black neighborhoods at low pricing to build football baseball stadiums and the imprisoned inmates did the work at .10 a hour while paying $6 per ramen packet while in commissary and so they can use the dea to help the cartel to sell in america and the dea robbs the semis bringing money back to Mexico to fund black budget military projects in the billions without any oversite or perimeters they have to stay in because it's invisible money taken from the poor who can't afford to go to drs and work 40-to-80 hour weeks for min wage at $8 a hour no paid overtime and they arrange it at 30 hour weeks by differnt payroll company's so they arnt forced to pay for insurance overtime or hazard pay and are not giving out paid vacations or paid sick days or paid and unpaid maternity leave for men or women. It's all what keeps me up at night while the government promotes divisions by race, age, culture, financial and sexist / sexual identity which they started with making frogs gay back in the 70s with pesticides and once that worked they moved on to human trials and preaching the propaganda in educational settings from elementary to full on protesting universities it's why there is free lunches in low income schools because when do u ever get a free lunch in a capitalism society I was raised to believe no one gets free lunch and im sure that true because if u ever go into a minority majority low income school they are usualy a grade of D- or F school and they have a higher rate of LGBT individuals and the minority of America is usually at 95% they look like prison training camps they even walk with hand behind the back bubble in the mouth they feed them free lunch breakfast and take home dinners have the state of the line supplys every kid gets a computer to post on their trans views and support with free wifi so the parents are busy fighting their out of control teens who are buying and selling the street cartel drugs and while we are busy fighting that cops are busy abusing laws they don't even know exist to arrest and utilize the slaves for farming and using the pesticides to cycle of life while we pay more and more taxes and can't even get the what people think is white privileges of transfer of generational wealth because we have to pay 50% taxes on anything over the life time gift inheritance limit that was in the thousands now at least u can do up to $13,million but as little as 2010 it was as low as in the $150,000 limit and the current limit is $17,000 a year at a time per living or deceased parent and the property transfer rate is based on current market value not purchased value which we all know the bank jacked up for them to be able to steal millions on a low value house a 30 yr loan with cost u 5 times the value of the house to pay over the life time of the loan say u refinance 2 to 3 times as Americans do for repairs then we are talking around 20 times the value so a $150,000 house which in reality is built with only $30,000 in original materials for the build but after a realtor added his cost of living value added ur at $150,000 the lender and closing adds on $10,500 for the seller realtor $7,000 for the buyer realtor $10,000 lender closing costs $3,000 title agent costs $7,260 sales tax county commissioner costs then the intrest of the current federal index of 5% =$225,000+costs+150,000= $412,760 + 30 yrs of taxes and insurance $4,010 yearly added +$120,300= $533,060 if u never refi and only pay ur 30 yr mortgage at the payments and no inflation added or increase in value taxes which is impossible but bare min to purchase a house at $150,000 on a mortgage for 30 fixed at 5% = $533,060 and that's no remodeling costs no maintenance costs no having a natural disaster most likely u will have to replace the roof at least once as most roofs are a 16 yr life roofs and painting windows interior ac unit repairs lawn maintenance then there is utilities water electrical and there maintenance so basic min utilities added and some maintenance no remodeling =total costs paid=$857,060 for a 30 yr mortgage house, that is appraisal valued at $150,000 all which is actually unobtainable at the moment in my area I can't find a house that low in price in my city even at a one bedroom 800sqft house which is pretty sad and the schools in area failing so school for kids is around $40,000 a semester plus transport and lunch agenda costs and field trips cost it's alot to live in america currently being poor.
It took a while to get the hang of, but I loved mine (menopausal now, so a thing of the past). You absolutely have to break that vacuum when you take it out - even more so if it's nowhere near full - but if you don't have lube, water is OK. I recommend getting the nominated finger as far up as you dare... You do have to overcome a lot of squick to use these, but in my opinion it was well worth it for the cost saving/convenience/saving the environment.
I find the easiest way to extract it is to sit on the toilet and bare down using your pelvic floor muscles until it gets to a point where you can grab it. Also the punch down fold makes for a smaller point for insertion. Running cold water on it before insertion will stiffen the silicone making it easier to pop open.
I've never used a cup, but I used a disc and had no problem for years until one day it suctioned itself to my insides and I had to go to the emergency room. Even the ER doc didn't think he'd be able to remove it. After a half hour, he was about to give up and call a specialist, but he gave it one last try. He VERY CAREFULLY punctured the rim and released the suction without injuring me. There are loads of horror stories online from people who have had the same problem with the disc and the cup.
"I want to use it tomorrow, but I still fear for my life and my hoo-ha." Lolol! I love you so much! I've thought about using one of these, but then I think about having to remove it in a public restroom and leaving a crime scene...
Alright, so you’re never supposed to feel very much suction. I’ve used the diva cup for years now and what I do, and the diva cup and lily cup are longer, is I push it higher in there. No stem showing. Once it is open inside, you run your finger along the rim if you feel too much suction. It loosens the suction. It will hurt so bad if you let it go on with that much suction. But yes, adjust it once it is inside. I put it in during my morning shower and take it out after i get home from work. Of course there are times where I have to take it out at work but I wash my hands and I pull it out over the toilet and dump it and stick it right back in.
I tried a really small cup for a few times. It was really painful. I've been using natural sponges for the last 10 years. A sponge can last between 1 and 6 periods and then compost it. Clean with vinegar.
I hardly comment on these, but seriously... THANK YOU!! I've had so many people recommend the "cup" as an alternative. I'm in my 40s, married for quite a while; sometimes a lady just doesn't feel like dealing with pads and tampons at this stage of their life lol. I also have female issues, and always had a very small area down there so these things have kind of always scared me. I think other than the one or two heavy days I'm just going to stick with my period panties. 😂😂😂
ok - I just found your channel. Love you. And I can relate because back about a million years ago I was using contraceptive sponges - I have a removal story much like this one. After about 20 terrifying minutes I got it out - I was not going to the ER to have it removed. I also have a delightful story about being fitted for a diaphragm. LOL...
I brought one of these a few months ago and the first time is so scary. But none the less, I brough another (a Saalt one actually) and I love it! Extra thoughts: The noises from my down below where so weird when I remove the cup.
I’ve been using menstrual cups for years now. There is definitely a learning curve with it. I have quite a few of them and some of them are more comfortable than others. Plus the first time was weird and was a bit scary/painful. The type I use the most doesn’t use as much suction to come out - but apparently they’re discontinued which sucks because they’re the best for comfort.
I love mine! It’s so comfortable and once you figure it out it’s really very easy. If you were uncomfortable then you probably didn’t get it up high enough. As for getting it in and out, perhaps experiment with different positions. I find sitting on the toilet to be most comfortable, followed by standing with one leg up. Keep trying! And thank you for sharing your journey ❤
Great video review!! At age 35 and having given birth to twins two years prior I finally tried a menstrual cup after all the amazing online reviews. Complete regret purchase, really hurt putting it in and even more so taking it out. I’m back to using my tried and tested tampons, thank you very much. 0/10 👎🏾
I used the SAALT, and didn’t like it. It’s sitting in my bathroom cupboard. I’ve used a number of different ones, and my favorites have been the Keeper Cup (rubber) and the silicone version of the Keeper. I’ve been using menstrual cups the last 8 years, and I’ve melted one by boiling, lost one in a public toilet, and left one in a hotel room, and had to borrow one from my sister. It’s been an adventure, but I’m so glad I use menstrual cups. Sometimes, especially at the beginning, the angle is a challenge. Persevere.
I tried this after pads and tampons etc for 30 years and it was an epic solution. Especially for heavy periods and period pain. The solution to the weird feeling or pain it the position of the cup . This takes some trial and error. I font use it anymore I had a hysterectomy. I would recommend
Try the flex disk. I had trouble keeping it in, but they're actually pretty comfortable, and my experience seems to be the exception, not the rule. I know a few girls who use them, and they love ❤ them. I'm gonna try again. Also they say practicing insertion and then moving around when you're not on your period, then by the time aunty flow comes around you'll be a pro! Please let us know if it goes better the second time, this video was fantastic 👏 👌 I'm sure many of us can relate 100 percent 😀
This might be a bit late coz this video is like 2 years old. I've been using menstrual cups for a few years now because I get heavy periods and I got the exact same reaction as you when I first started. It was uncomfortable and hard to insert/take out. What I found helped was trying different shaped cups and using different folds. There's one fold I found which made it as small as a big tampon which really helped. You also get used to it the more you use it. It could also be the position of cup (whether it's too high or low). Honestly all I can say to help is experiment because once I got used to it, it honestly helped sooo much when I had my heavy days :) I hope this has helped some people x
Thank you for this. I recently bought a diva cup and I am so scared about using it that I have had two periods since purchasing it and still have yet to try it.
Ohhh, the serendipity. My wife was talking about those things yesterday and what pops up in my suggestions today... I'll definitely point her to this video. I can already hear the question though. "Why are you watching videos of that pretty little blonde???" Lol!
I did a lot of research on this topic and in 2014 I bought my first one. The first few times it was bad. Uncomfortable to put in, I felt it while it was inside, and it was scary to take out, a few times I didn't place it right and it leaked out. Maybe there was even a time I contemplated not using it, I don't remember anymore. There definitely is a learning curve to the period cup usage but let me tell you, once you get used to it, nothing can stop you. I have been on my period with white pants on, I have swam in the sea, pools, saunas, and I wear any underwear I want anytime. It is so comfortable and clean, and I wouldn't ever go back to using disposable hygiene products.
I have used Diva’s brand for the last 5 years (the only one I could find when I needed it) and I love using a cup compared to tampons/pads. I am really curious about period underwear though! Not that a cup is uncomfortable for me personally, I just want to experience the “nothing there” approach underwear provides. I am completely over the whole tampon/pad thing. For some reason as I have gotten older, the thought of me going back to them is repulsive and I’d rather bleed on everything than go back 😂
My first time using it was pretty much the same it was lying around for about half a year and then I got a surprise period visit with no supplies do I gave it a go and it was a bit better and I finally had no leakage at night. Gradually I learned to push when pulling it out and now I love it for the 3 heavy days. It's also the only thing I trust for swimming.... 😅
You will love it, once you figure it all out. I was heavy bleeding and this was my last resort, The first few times are awkward, by the 3rd month, I was a expert. I had no pain. I forgot it was even in there My key trick was water, lube, squat in shower , fold it into a Flower & insert ! For 8 hr I forgot I had a period! Wish I had found it sooner
Late to this post, but I started with Flex Cup and they’re designed to be pulled out like a tampon and the silicon is much softer. Find the brand you like because there are many.
Curious to hear if you were able to push through and ended up using it or not! When I got my first cup a few years ago I have not looked back once - I know it’s gross and weird at first but I did get used to it quickly. I had to do one cycle without it when I had a new one in the post, and it was the *worst period ever* because with the cup I honestly feel like I barely have a period. So much less bother than tampons. But that’s just me! Cheers! ❤
I love my menstrual cup (I use Diva Cup). Yes, the first few times were strange. But then you get it! First advice, do it over a toilet. When I'm sitting on a toilet - that's the best position for me. I tried squatting in a shower but then you're too low and there's not much space inside you. And trying to hold yourself in a half-squat makes your muscle inside tense. While on a toilet you get fully relaxed. To insert I use the "rose" method, then the tip which you need to insert is smaller. When I need to take it out, I grab the bottom, like you did, and then just push with my inner muscles (like when you do when you want to poo). It gets out in a second. And this is when you need to be on a toilet, as it spills straight away. Good luck! That was one of my best decisions ever to switch to a menstrual cup. I still, though, use small pads with it in case it leaks.
This was such a great video! I have never worn tampons and I would never try this but was curious as to how it works and felt. Lol my fear is that I would not be able to get it out. I do wear period panties and I LOVE THEM!!!!!! 💜
I'm not a fan of the cups. I prefer the soft disc instead. They are so much easier to insert and remove. They've actually helped relieve a lot of the cramps and sharp pain in my lower back and abdomen that I have during that time due to my endometriosis. Some pains have actually subsided when i use them compared to pads, tampons, and cups. Idk why, but it truly does help. I seriously recommend them to everyone I know and those that do end up trying them, havent used anything else, other than panty liners, just in case. The Soft Disc, NOT The Cups. Ooh and just an added bonus, Coconut oil makes an amazing all natural lube and a little goes a long way.
I had the diva cup (same as yours) and now I have a disk which sits more internal.... but I came here to say... I tend to feel sick belly or cramps when it's full/time to change. I usually don't wear it on the first day depending on whats going on that day.... because of cramps or just general discomfort.... I really enjoy it tho, I take it out on the toilet and carry a few rubber gloves if I'm in public to keep my hands clean... it took me a few periods to get used to how to put it in, I always wear a liner and or pad... which kind of goes against the idea of being envo friendly but then of course I don't go thru many..
I’ve got to say I have avoided watching this one because I knew it would be TMI . Curiosity got me though and bloody glad it did, funny you mentioned bladder weakness because I’ve pissed my self laughing 😆😂😂😂😂
Hahahhahaha this is my FAVOURITE comment!!
@@hayleymorris thanks I consider myself quite the comedian 😂😂😂😂
@@kimboclara1 😂😂
I am on and I know that I am laying in bed in a dirty house dress with VERY tangled hair.
You're just great....honesty at its best I made my boyfriend watch your shorts and said baby this is legit how women live our lives.
I’ve been in hospital with covid for nearly 3 weeks and you won’t believe how much watching this video has just made me giggle (the rest of the Ward must be wondering what I’m watching)!! I admire your sustainability attempts and thank you for the honesty and TMI 🤣
Ohh Amanda, sending you so much love! I am SOO happy to hear it made you laugh, hope you feel so much better soon! 💜💙
I used one for nearly a decade. I ended up flipping it inside out because that bottom piece always felt weird. Everything was great for years after I flipped it. And yes, the first time was the worst. It was SO WORTH going through the learning curve! Hang in there!
Mine said to cut it off 🤷🏻♀️ I started by cutting a tiny bit... another tiny bit.... and then just snip the whole stick off!
Same
@@cs4887 I was afraid of cutting too much or doing something wrong. Flipping worked great. I hope cutting worked well, too.
@@miamerle8965 with mine (mooncup) you can't cut too much because the silicone is thicker at the bottom 😉
I would have thought it would have filled up and required emptying significantly before the ten years was up!
Thanks for the review. I had been wondering how well they worked.
Diva cup is awesome!
Brutal honesty with a bit of humor 🌹
Big Fan of the channel. This was educational in ways I never expected. Don't think I will be able to sleep tonight,or ever again.
Disc is suction free.
❤️❤️❤️❤️
I’ve had my Saalt cup for over a year. Had similar experiences when I first used mine... now I love it!
I tried one for about a year, and almost every day of my period each month was like this for me :(
So glad it’s not just ME!
Haha I am SO happy it made you laugh, that is always a huge bonus to me haha!
Your grace with all the things you share here, is delightful. I think you are wonderful.
The hot flashes of menopause lasted only a few months compared to 30 years of periods. Of course I have a different pad now. The fun don't stop!
Bruh legit your story is the most relatable ..like I have used it only twice and I am not ready for the third anytime soon..
This is not TMI. It fits in great with your other video's! 😆 Can't wait to see the cup character in your shorts! Lol.
Oh my gosh! I cried laughing watching this 🤣 thanks for cheering me up Hayley
Haha I am SO glad to hear that! Hope you’re doing well lovely 💕
Oh dear, this is so amusing somehow :D
I have been using a menstrual cup since I was probably 15 years old and I don't rememer my first time with it.
Exactly the same for me! Instead of panty liners though, I have a couple pairs of period pants for those days where I want a little extra protection.
I have endometriosis to I have to take birth control because they are so painful
I stated using period cups when i was 17 and it does get better after about 3 or 4 times so dont worry about it
You are hilarious! People (boys & girls) can actually learn about things you post. Thanks!
Honestly everything I suspected would happen, you've definitely mentioned. I'll continue to abstain.
Thank you.
Well you learn something new every day - and today was my introduction to the menstrual cup. Thank you (I think).
Once you get used to it and get it in the right place etc. Works amazing. Can't feel it. Cant go back to pads and tampons
Running cold water on it before insertion will stiffen the silicone making it easier to pop open.
my experience was nearly that terrifying but now, 2 months later, i love the menstrual cup. just keep trying :)
There are loads of horror stories online from people who have had the same problem with the disc and the cup.
that's terrifying!
I am grateful you posted this.Thank you !!
Hayley, I think you're absolutely wonderful!!! 🥰❤️🌹 You're honesty is fantastic, and very refreshing!!! You're brilliant!!! 🥰❤️🌹 I adore you!!! 🥰❤️🌹
"I want to use it tomorrow, but I still fear for my life and my hoo-ha." Lolol! I love you so much! I've thought about using one of these, but then I think about having to remove it in a public restroom and leaving a crime scene...
You can wear them for 12 hours so you don't need to change it until you get home :)
Thank you for sharing your experience good or bad I appreciate your raw and open honesty ❤❤❤
You’re the wise aunt we all need
I dont think I've laughed in 2 weeks. Thank you! Love you & your videos!🤣😍
Persevere.
I am so sorry for laughing at your pain but I just can't stop laughing!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We all use them here - and swear by them! Good for the environment and no worry about TSD!!
I got one that has the pull "cord" that pulls the inside of the cup to break the seal. Super easy! Saves so much money and plastic.
Omg, I've had a hysterectomy so I never used one but now I think I'm good without the experience!!
Honestly all I can say to help is experiment because once I got used to it, it honestly helped sooo much when I had my heavy days :)
I hope this has helped some people x
I used the flex cup and it has a way to break the suction so its easier to come out. It takes a couple of times to get it right but it is awesome
Thank you for this. I recently bought a diva cup and I am so scared about using it that I have had two periods since purchasing it and still have yet to try it.
Brave woman for trying that out for others!
Ohhh, the serendipity. My wife was talking about those things yesterday and what pops up in my suggestions today... I'll definitely point her to this video. I can already hear the question though. "Why are you watching videos of that pretty little blonde???" Lol!
I like all your content but I love you for this one! You are the best!
For some reason as I have gotten older, the thought of me going back to them is repulsive and I’d rather bleed on everything than go back 😂
One of the few times you don't want your cup to run over
My first time using it was pretty much the same it was lying around for about half a year and then I got a surprise period visit with no supplies do I gave it a go and it was a bit better and I finally had no leakage at night. Gradually I learned to push when pulling it out and now I love it for the 3 heavy days. It's also the only thing I trust for swimming.... 😅
You will love it, once you figure it all out.
I was heavy bleeding and this was my last resort,
The first few times are awkward, by the 3rd month, I was a expert.
I had no pain. I forgot it was even in there
My key trick was water, lube, squat in shower , fold it into a Flower & insert !
This lady is such a riot! Major LOL!
