When getting my masters in Theology I used my electives to Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross and they helped my spirituality grow exponentially. However, they are very difficult to understand unless you put the time in to study them thoroughly. I haven't read this man's book but it sounds like it is one that simplifies the explanation of their works and connects to other saints and I can say books like that are invaluable to the faithful especially those who want an introduction to Teresa of Avila and John of the Cross or don't have the time to study them.

No kidding! I was confident attempting to read the entire works of St. John of The Cross but I was truly shocked at my ineptitude in comprehending what seemed to me to be so essential. I learned more in Adoration at the foot of the Cross. On the other hand I hold many of St. Theresa de Avila quite readily in my mind and spirit sometimes it’s arduous then I return to more simple devotions like the Stations of The Cross. My true hope is to master living in The Divine Will given us through Luisa Piccaretta. Courage!

@@Angelina6518 Yeah Theresa of Avila is much easier to understand than John of the Cross. I especially like the Interior Castle. JOTC's books are much more scholastic in nature and use a lot of metaphors that need deciphering. However, after reading and studying all of their works (We studied the complete works of both) thoroughly, I do slightly prefer his books as they give a deeper understanding it just took a long time to understand them.

I disagree, too many times the beauty and inspiration is lost by his commentary. Many times he leaves out the text before and after what he choose to speak of and loses all of the true meaning of the saints teachings.

I buy The Fulfillment of All Desire and keep a couple of copies on hand to give to people when I feel urged by the Lord to give them a copy. I think this book will be considered a spiritual classic.

That book gives very little of the wisdom of the saints he quotes. So many times he interrupts their writings leaving out the most import words and telling the reader what he understands not what the saint is saying to me. I found this especially true in the his interruption of St Catherine of Siena's writings. If you want to know what the saints have to say, read the writings of the saint not someone else's take on their writing. Read "Dark Night of the Soul" as St John of the Cross wrote it. Read Theresa of Avail "The Little Way" the way she wrote it. Read St Catherine of Siena "The Dialogue". Read anything written by Francis de Sale, I found this book very big determinate to my spiritual life. And never forget to read the most read book, aside from the Bible, over the centuries "THE IMITATION OF CHRIST" by Thomas a Kempis.

The book is by nature a commentary, and he is a spiritually devout and good writer. This is why people have bought it. It is not marketed as being solely the writing of the saints.

Completely off topic - can you recommend a good book for a young couple getting married to help them discuss and learn about intimacy / sex?

JESUS IS NOT GOD (JOHN 11:22):
MARTHA SAID TO JESUS, “BUT I KNOW THAT EVEN NOW, WHATSOEVER YOU WILL ASK OF GOD, GOD WILL GIVE IT TO YOU” (JOHN 11:22). SO WHY IN THESE TIMES ARE PEOPLE GOING AGAINST EVERYTHING JESUS SAID, REFUSING THE TRUTH BUT ACCEPTING THE LIES? THERE IS A GOD [THE FATHER] AND HE IS THE ONLY GOD THAT EXISTS (ISAIAH 44:6) AND JESUS IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. ANYONE WHO CHANGES THIS WILL NOT ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN (REVELATION 22:18-19).

@@sabl6381 I’LL CONTINUE TO PICK IT APART BECAUSE IT IS INCREDULOUS TO GOD’S WORD:
JESUS SAID TO MARY MAGDALENE THAT HIS FATHER IS HIS AND HER GOD, THUS PROFESSING THAT HIS FATHER IS GOD:
“JESUS SAITH UNTO HER, TOUCH ME NOT; FOR I AM NOT YET ASCENDED TO MY FATHER: BUT GO TO MY BRETHREN, AND SAY UNTO THEM, I ASCEND UNTO *MY FATHER, AND YOUR FATHER; AND TO MY GOD, AND YOUR GOD.”* JOHN 20:17

@@annie5441 before you pick “it” apart, it will do you good to answer the following 1st because “it” did not fall out of the sky…
History shows us that Jesus didn't leave us a bible, the apostles didn't tell us which books belong in the bible, the church fathers never agreed on the 27 books of the NT through the 4th century, not only did they not agree but their list of would-be NT canons were GROWING during this time. So, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church, guided by the Holy Spirit, that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century, just 75 years AFTER the council of Nicaea which began the Trinitarian doctrine and subsequent councils of Ephesus and Chalcedon, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved these scriptures by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us, show us, who did? And if this church no longer exists today, what good is the text which came forth from her if she couldn't sustain herself?

"The Fullfilliment of All Desires " is a must all Catholics as its contents reverting to the authentic Catholic spirituality. This is antidote for New ages spirituality with which many Catholics got lost thrir Catholic faith to their graveyards. Avoid such books by Thomas Merton and by Fr. Anthony de Mello,SJ.
