@@PentaHousenDo you mean Richard Garfield? Cause I think you could probably say his "other card game" (he's actually designed several) is the most successful one of all time by quite some margin.
trying to be so greedy with the spin-off whereas dota itself is the most fair model there is... they only have themselves to blame. it's solely the business model that killed it and they were blind not to see it.
The three fights/lanes at once concept was refined in Marvel Snap which is doing well (I think) so the base idea definitely has merit. It needs some rework but it could have worked, I agree.
@@ostkartongThe inspiration for Snap would more correctly be attributed to physical card games like Battle Line and Air, Land & Sea rather than Artifact. You also have to consider that a lot of the success of Snap comes from the relative simplicity of the game and the short time of each match, qualities that are in stark contrast to what Artifact has tried to achieve.
I still play this game regularly but only with my one buddy Fox. We are 2 of the like 100 unique players a month or something lol. I even have a zinc artifact keycap just for the giggles.
Game 1: Two heroes die on turn 1 due to being (randomly!) placed across from red heroes, opponent has no plays they can make while the red player gets tons of gold, opponent immediately concedes. Ah yes, I remember this game :P
I still love when I was reading a big Artifact thread where one of the Artifact devs kept insisting that actually, all your Blue heroes being massacred on turn 1 was FANTASTIC for you and you should be celebrating!
i genuinely love OG artifact, unpopular opinion but I think it was a solid game that you could 100% play for free. just play draft! It's great! no one plays anymore, million year queue times thank you for the artifact content never in a million years would I have guessed it would happen
This game might forever be the most what if game ever for me. Why did they have to rush the release of this game??? I still don't understand why they couldn't have had an extended open beta. Would have let them realize the flaws in their ideas for the game. The bones of the game are great. Plenty of ways it could have fixed it's bad monetization, and swingy mechanics. They weren't THAT far off from greatness.
I liked this game and was sad it died but at the end of the day I bought the game for 20$ sold the cards I got from draft for 25$ and got like 40 hours of enjoyment so all worked out in the end. I did think it was really fun there were a bunch of Hearthstone and Gwent streamers like Savjz and Swim who were tired of their games and saying they were going to switch to artifact when it came out and just insulting the games they were playing a whole bunch but when Artifact failed they came crawling back back to their old games after insulting them for several months
Valve focuses too much on whats popular so it didn't surprised me that after the digital card game hype train slowed down they abandoned artifact completely. That is why I don't trust valve when it comes to developing and handling niche types of games, I mean they could've handed it over to indie companies or a handful amount of passionate individuals who can keep the game running with balancing and such but no they would rather bury it down.
I unironically loved this game and miss it a lot. Was by far my favorite TCG I've ever played, it's a shame it's dead.
If only valve hadn’t canned their efforts to revitalize this game, this might have something fairly enjoyable.
Game was boring and too complex for a card game. Animations are 10/10 but rest was made by a guy whoes card game wasnt even good
They got greddy and got fucked , the paid cards made the game have low player numbers

@@saltedgerman he designed core of magic, but game itself at first few iterations was so bad most cards were unplayable.
@@PentaHousen Most cards in modern sets are still unplayable. It's by design, partly as pack-filling chaff, and partly for the Limited format.
Man I really felt like this game was so well designed. A shame it got killed by its business model.
People have stuck with worse monetized games during the 2010's.
The players knew it was the opposite.
I miss this game. So much potential squandered.
I miss my 20 dollars
The greed fucked them , did valve really need 0.2% more revenue by selling digital cards

MOAR ARTIFACT! This is a fun game to watch.
All this game needs is an expansion/balance patch. It is genuinely a great game.
idk about that
@@Falcons8455 well then if you don't know why even comment?

Phantom Draft, you mean. And after the 20 dollar buy-in.
Yes, phantom draft. And at the start it was $20, which that was a huge mistake on Valve. Now it's free.
@@ryansmith3383 Sorry but it sounded like you meant the original Artifact, which had the 20 dollar buy-in.
@@Neremworld I did say 'OG artifact,' but I meant that as a distinction from the Foundry reboot. I can see the confusion. Have a nice day.

I started playing this game rn cuz had no games to play on my low end laptop and daaaamn this is so interesting, so sad it died
Both Artifact and Dota Underlords fail to realize their full potential.
Play a deck where you lock all the cards in their hand so they can't play anything, then be like "I'm a homie, Slack. I'm the homiest."
Artifact is so fun. Lets bring it back.
I love hwo the first moments of this game just proves the fautls of the game with RNG
I always thought this had the potential to be at the very least on par with Hearthstone
I just installed Artifact and tried it for the first time last week. It's okay.
slacks changing his keyboard cat profile picture is something i didnt know would effect me

Didn't know you could artifact in 2023
Which version are they playing?
Tinha esquecido do sistema de RNG porco desse jogo.
Hopefully Valve opens it uo fot the community to makr their owb ganes with theur own rules

God I love artifact

I member when DC went all in on Artifact and the game flopped xddddd
lmao great idea
What an asshole. Crying for a "homie move" and winning on the next turn. Immediately would make me never give him one again.
omg more plz
Happy birthday, game. Stay dead.
well isn't this exciting. honestly, i was mostly sad this game didn't make it because i always thought it was great fun to watch.
