- We dig out the replacement engine and give it some TLC, a new clutch and pull off some of the more "sticky-out" parts that'll likely hit my fresh engine bay paint.
Then a battle pursues of trying to get this thing in the bay, the engine fought us, the gearbox fought us, the fork lift fought us and my cameras fought us.
But we got there.
Not long now until "the big switch on" where I find if all this effort was worth it.

TOP RESULT! Blimey that donk is like new CJ! Only 50k on the clock it should be. Might be worthwhile to take Amber to a council weighbridge sometime to see what shes running GVW now (and the trailer for your GTW)? Then you should have an idea how long that clutch will last - with that HUGE hill on your land!
The propshaft issue - EASY fix. I had the same when I fitted a Gardner engine in my Scammell it was too short! A mate machined up a custom 'insert' out of a solid billet to fill the gap! Any machine shop worth its salt (excuse the pun) should be able to to do that for ya matey!
I'm disabled.. I lost a leg a few years ago. I would love to have something like this. I'm currently saving up so I can. I just wanted to say that I love your videos man. That one video with you in the little monk girl was absolutely terrifying. I'm not kidding at all it gave me nightmares. Thanks for not trying to fake stuff too. People don't need or want scripted shit anymore. We want something GENUINE, REAL, TANGIBLE... We want it from the heart. I can't even read fiction anymore. The truth is always far more interesting to me.

Check under the chassis for extra bolt holes for the cross member because the auto box will be longer hence the prop length difference, you may be able to just slide out the front half of the prop and change it for the other one

Question - I remember you saying that the van is only going to be used to move to your new plot of land with the trailer. So why go to this much effort?
@Dal J You cant leave your van one you have residency becuase from what i have seen you surender you UK driving licence. To convert the van is very complicated.
Alloy prop spacer will be fine 4x4s use them all the time 👏👏👏👍and is that the mount not lining up? If so that can be re engineered
might not be able to say goodbye to it , more likely youre not prepaired to put in the work to build u a new campervan , lots of work to repace the engine but nothing compared to doing a new buildout

I've been putting CAN bus interfaces and ethernet wiring in mine but mostly, right now, it's the original wiring. Think instead of a thick core of wires, just a network cable and power with the signals going on and off the network and slightly more advanced (ie Arduino controlled) bits at the other end. I can imagine whether you replace the wiring harness or rework it from the ground up (where you at least know exactly what's going on), when you're in the middle of it, the other option seems more attractive. Since you've actually replaced the harness and had all the wiring problems, what do you think?
As for remarrying the gearbox to the engine, it would appear that they have all decided that they should start seeing other vehicles!

So the engine is in, it just doesn't quite reach the essential connection to the propshaft ....? welcome to DaimlerChrysler. You'll get that sorted with an insert part. The clutch will last some time once You just use it for gear changes and getting that thing rolling from zero, and not to creep up hills with it half engaged only ... It's a learning curve with Your driving skills ruined by that sprint shit for so long I reckon .... Oh hold up, lost that "f..." somewhere ;-)

What SD cards are you using? If you are getting lots of card issues you need to change your cards, never buy them from eBay, too many fakes, Sandisk extreme or extreme pro are the dogs danglies. Buy direct from Amazon for the best prices and a guarantee they are genuine. And always remember to format them before use and after wiping content.
while you have that engine out you didnt pull out the injectors and have them checked? at the same time do a compression leakdown test? doesnt cost much..but painting seems to be more important then checking out the engine instead of a breakdown later..
In fairness it’s a 50k engine which is absolutely mint, it ran perfectly prior to install and whilst you are correct that it is a cost effective thing to do the list of jobs that you could do with the engine out is huge.
As I’m sure you’ll see in future videos many other issues that stop Amber from going simply have to take priority.
Go easy on the guy.. it’s a massive job! 😀
