I love the Lavvu style of tent. I am curious as to how it will withstand the rain and severe thunderstorms/tornadoes here in the central U.S.

As long as you use a ground sheet I don't see why not. Finland gets heavy snow and rain afterall. (of course you shouldn't be using any tent in an actual tornado)

In tornado conditions, secure inhabitants to the corner strings, and use the tent as a parasailing device. Once landed in Oz, follow the yellow bricked highway to the wizard, who will send you home.

Yup this tent can handle tornadoes easily. It's also bulletproof (NIJ III) and it protects you from aliens. And in some cases also from mosquitoes.

In case of heavy rain, keep the stove inside as red as strawberry so the heat along with the fiber material keeps the moistness away.

Easily. Especially if the night firewatcher is a bit too ambitious in adding fire to the stove.

Yes, superheated red-hot stove has been known to melt nearby footwear and causing possibly fatal heatstroke. Also, excessive heat can cause the night firewatcher to fall asleep and fall face first into the stove. So, you can make sauna by accident with this.
But in all seriousness, we used to make temporary saunas while camping with see-through plastic tarp and pile of rocks. With this kind of tent, making sauna would be childsplay.
