a horse has his rights too... amen sir amen 100% agree and i sadly didnt understand that until just the last 4 yrs... been riding since i was 11 and im 33. i always asked the horses to cater to me but id never adjust to the horse, i was basically a bully... amazing words of wisdom that im just starting to understand myself.

Man, I wish I could have a sit-down with Buck and just ask questions. (Total newb here when it comes to interacting with/riding horses.)
I've been working with horses for 18 years and I still don't have a fraction of the skill that Buck has. He's one of my idols. If you're a total newb, keep following Buck. I wish I knew about him when I started riding. I had really crappy mentors in the past that taught me all wrong and I ended up parting ways with them because I eventually realized what they were doing was cruel, even though they had the best intentions. They, like most horse "trainers" are too heavy handed and set in their ways to treat every horse as an individual and work with them instead of trying to get them to submit by way of fear and intimidation. I highly recommend any of his books, I'm almost done reading The Faraway Horses now and it's amazing to just get a glimpse at his mindset. Keep learning and you'll do great. We need more people like Buck and those who follow his philosophy in the industry!! 😊

Et t'essaies de comprendre comment il pense et comment il te perçoit, et de mesurer ce qu'il faut pour qu'il ait les mêmes idées que toi. Tout ce que tu veux finalement réaliser c'est que tes idées son devenues le sien.

J'essaie juste pour voir à quel niveau je peux amener un cheval sans qu'il se sente en danger / sans qu'il se sente en problème. Parfois je fais des choses plus ou moins physiquement correct, et cela me préoccupe. Mais cela n'est pas la finalité. Cela est probablement la phase au milieu, voire au début. Mais la phase finale c'est de voir ce qu'accompli le cheval sans qu'il se sente en danger ou au moins possible. C'est le chemin pendant qu'il apprend, comme moi j'apprends simultanément.

Dès que tu comprends comment le cheval pense, tu comprendras comment il perçoit des choses, tu trouveras la voie comment le cheval peut être en harmonie avec toi. Tu trouves une manière de communiquer que lui peut comprendre. Pour moi il ne s'agit pas de l'entraînement d'un cheval, c'est d'essayer d'avoir le cheval " avec " toi. Comme le cheval et toi sont ensemble avec une pensée, un corps. Il se peut que tu chasses cette idée pendant la vie entière, mais c'est un bon but pour chasser.
On lui laisse apprendre des choses qu'il aime faire sans être bousculer, c'est ça le but. Donc il faut arriver à travailler un cheval dans ses conditions, pas les tiens. Tu ne demandes pas tout simplement le cheval à se confirmer avec toi, mais tu dois être capable d'adapter une situation qui marche pour un cheval, mais pas pour un autre. Comme les humains qui ne s'adaptent pas non plus ! Ils ont une manière de faire des choses et qu'ils pensent que les chevaux doivent faire pareil que lui.
Bonne chance avec cela, car cela ne marchera pas. Certes, je souhaits que le cheval s'adapte parfois par rapport ce qu'il fait au moment oùil me met en danger. Le but c'est que cheval et toi se retrouvent quelque part " au milieu ", le compromis. Cela confirme que je ne suis pas supérieur que le cheval, inférieur non plus. J'ai les même droits d'existence que mon cheval, donc il a aussi ses droits, que je dois respecter....
