  • A third Cabinet minister has admitted using a property owned by one of Labour's major donors.
    Wes Streeting hosted a fundraising event at Lord Alli's London home.
    This comes after the Prime Minister was questioned over accepting accomodation so that his 16-year-old son could revise for exams and travel to school undisturbed.
    And also Angela Rayner was criticised for the use of a flat in New York.
    There are also things like accepting Taylor Swift tickets and a hospitality box at Arsenal.

    Jeremy.....
    We should not need extra help, if the state pension was brought into line with other countries there would be no need for pension credit, if the tax allowance for pensioners was raised when a person reaches pensionable age, it would also help those that helped themselves by paying into a personal pension when they were working.

    With regards to Kier Starmer's kid's revision/exams, let's look at it differently, taking away the politics etc. As a parent, wouldn't you do something similar for your kid?
    Your kid/s are doing GCSEs/exams but you have some urgent, disruptive building going on. One of your friends says, they can come and stay with us so that they can revise? What as a parent, would you do? Accept that so that your kid(s) aren't disadvantaged - of course, I would, wouldn't you?
    What if your friend owns a really nice and expensive house, would that make a difference, probably not.
    Another case, your friend has a holiday home somewhere and offers you a free stay - just pay for the tickets there etc. Do you take it, probably - it might be 'worth' £1000.00 or £2000.00 so it's technically some unearned income - do you declare it to the tax authorities?
    That's the difference, you don't declare these things, but politicians have to - it really is one rule for them and another for us, but not necessarily to their advantage...

    • @eddields
      @eddields 17 часов назад +2

      except they were there for well after the exam dates!! and the amount he showed as rent is way below the market rent for a property of that size and location!

    • @robsshedoftech6457
      @robsshedoftech6457 17 часов назад

      @@eddields So Kier Starmer actually said he 'promised his 16-year-old son he could get to his school and sit his exams without being disturbed.'
      GCSE Exam dates are from 2nd week of May to end of June, so this period in question covers at least half of the potential dates for exams, potentially a lot more if his kid's subjects exams were scheduled in the later weeks?
      So the they were not well after the exam dates, as has been claimed by some - yes he stayed until later in July, but imagine the other disruption of setting up government, appointing ministers, moving into No 10 - massively disruptive and all requiring being in central London.
      At the start of the exams, no one knew the election would be in early July and it was 1 week after Rishi Sunak called the election on 22nd May, when things would have been getting increasingly busier and disruptive, that his kid moved to the other accommodation.

    That this woman says.........I think...and then goes onto try and excuse what Starmer and co have done tells us a lot..........she has no clue about how the majority of voters in this country think and feel. Most of us think foreign aid should be stopped, most of us think that to borrow money which then gets sent abroad rather than used here at home is wrong. Most people think pensioners in this country on the worst pensions in Europe deserve to be cared for rather than illegal immigrants kept in relative luxury..............something no other country does.
