The Chiefs offense did great in the first quarter. 14 points The second quarter was 3 points and a turnover on downs which is no better than a fumble. The rest of the game was Zero points. 5 punts and a kneel down possession. 3 times going 3 and Out. Not a great output by Mahomes standards at 17 points. Why did they lose? Multiple people share in the blame. Mostly I blame the play calling by the Ravens. They are best at the power run game with Edwards up the middle or FB Pat Ricard blocking for Jackson on the outside. The Chiefs pass defense was also much better than their run defense this year. Buffalo ran effectively the previous week. The Ravens should have ran more. Edwards got 3 carries for 20’yards instead of 12 carries like normal. They did not use the FB/QB combo run either. They did not run the system that got them to 13-4. They threw too much. I blame the strip sack fumble Lamar had on the offensive line. He was immediately clobbered from behind. I also blame the chief’s offensive line for the 4th and 1 failed. Jackson made a poor decision throwing into 3 defenders in the end zone on the interception. The referees rarely called pass interference on either team the whole game (and Likely was being held early around the waste on that one). That was his major error. Flowers fumbled at the one which would have totally changed the margin and the strategy going forward. Plenty of blame to go around. Jackson had the best regular season. That is the criteria for MVP. The postseason is irrelevant toward that. The Chiefs struggled all season on offense. They lost to the Raiders and Broncos for example. They finally figured things out. Most people think the Mahomes is the best QB in the league. That is likely the truth. Jackson is probably somewhere between #2 and #5. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t a good QB and I think they lost in spite of his contributions not because of his mistake(s).

The Chiefs offense did great in the first quarter. 14 points The second quarter was 3 points and a turnover on downs which is no better than a fumble.

Not a great output by Mahomes standards at 17 points.
Why did they lose?
Multiple people share in the blame.
Mostly I blame the play calling by the Ravens. They are best at the power run game with Edwards up the middle or FB Pat Ricard blocking for Jackson on the outside. The Chiefs pass defense was also much better than their run defense this year. Buffalo ran effectively the previous week. The Ravens should have ran more.
Edwards got 3 carries for 20’yards instead of 12 carries like normal. They did not use the FB/QB combo run either.
They did not run the system that got them to 13-4. They threw too much.
I blame the strip sack fumble Lamar had on the offensive line. He was immediately clobbered from behind.
I also blame the
chief’s offensive line for the 4th and 1 failed.
Jackson made a poor decision throwing into 3 defenders in the end zone on the interception. The referees rarely called pass interference on either team the whole game (and Likely was being held early around the waste on that one). That was his major error.
Flowers fumbled at the one which would have totally changed the margin and the strategy going forward.
Plenty of blame to go around.
Jackson had the best regular season. That is the criteria for MVP.
The postseason is irrelevant toward that.
The Chiefs struggled all season on offense. They lost to the Raiders and Broncos for example. They finally figured things out.
Most people think the Mahomes is the best QB in the league. That is likely the truth. Jackson is probably somewhere between #2 and #5.
But that doesn’t mean he isn’t a good QB and I think they lost in spite of his contributions not because of his mistake(s).
