Navy SEAL faces long road to recover after bar fight injury

- A decorated Navy SEAL veteran who served two deployments in Iraq is now recovering from a debilitating injury after a bar fight here in Spokane. Now his comrades are working to raise money to help with his recovery. KXLY4's Alyssa Donovan reports.

Just shows no matter how badass someone is you can get very hurt in a fight in a bar....best to stay away from them.

Technically, he got injured after he took care of that guy, slipping and injuring himself after hitting the table.
I am an Englishman, now your seals are brave loyal solders worthy of the highest regard by you Americans and to read these comments from such a lot of you disappointments me very much. This Navy Seal is a very intelligent, kind and gentle man. He has had a miraculous recovery and it doing well. Thank God for people like him who have volunteered to serve and protect our country. When people join the military, they have no clue as to what situations they will be called to endure, but serve honorably in spite of the unknown dangers they may face. I am proud of this young man and proud of all who volunteer to serve with honor and pride. God bless them all.
Call me paranoid but this is why I don't spend time in bars or large gatherings.....
I drink at home or at a friends house in social settings. Thats it. Then I Take uber or cab back and forth and stay within my group. And I never get involved in drama in public unless someone is about to die.
I'll call the cops and let them deal with problems.
Better to be a live witness then a sued/injured or maybe even a dead hero, in today's day and age.
Sad to see this happen to this young man. But he shouldn't be bouncing at a bar with his skill and training level. He could of been doing so much more to earn his money.

lesson is, don't fight inside the bar. A small container of 10% OC pepper spray would have done the trick. Clean, easy, no skinned knuckles, chipped teeth or broken necks. Three squirts into the A/C return will clear the bar!

Unbelievable, some of the comments posted. Not one to usually post comments but could not go without after reading this. Don't use social media, drama, lies and basically bullshit. I live in Va Beach Va, where many SEALS live while stationed at Little Creek Amphibious base. Have a few friends and co-workers who were in the teams, even my current family physician. Great guys who have to want and earn their way to become elitist. Most people have no idea what these guys really do to protect our asses. They take on dangerous tasks and face fears that would send most men running away, while they run straight at the dangers without hesitation. Our armed forces in general deserve the utmost respect from every American who takes his or her freedoms for granted. If you can't give respect, get the hell out. I'm sure you can find a better country to suite your agenda. My thanks to all who are currently serving or who have served !!!!!!

Cold German Beer yes, but jumping from a C-130 from 35,000 ft with full jock up combat load of 80-100 lbs at night, on compressed O2, fall for 3-4 minutes with 12 others, land within 50 meters of each other, go find and kill the bad guys, resuce the good guys, swim, run to exfiltration location or be snatched up by spy-rigging before the sun comes up isnt easy. Don't you have some footsie to play with your boyfriend or beer making classes to attend at the local community college?
