I was born in Québec few years before Céline Dion, and I know her for her absolute honesty and would never have done Lip-sync, she said she has recovered enough, she is an extremely hard working. Unfortunatle it was pre-recorded. There are a few tells. 1. Compression. The voice is not dynamic at all, every note sounds like it was recorded into a condenser microphone in a studio and then compressed. Not possible live. 2. the pitch is way too pitch corrected. You can do this live, but its too perfect, zero artifacts. She did record the vocals herself so we should give her credit for this!
It has been confirmed that she did this live... The producers of the opening ceremony wanted her to do a pre recording and she refused. She wanted it to be done live. And yes... Celine would not have lip sync. She wanted her comeback to be authentic.

Omg, yes! And Mariah only did that because she felt threatened. Celine stole her thunder on that big Divas night. Aretha was like a goddess to her, and the fact she (MC) couldn't belt as clearly as she wanted to (you can see her struggling) made her feel insecure. Aretha then invited someone to help her "add fire" to the performance and Celine was all for it, and did it amazingly. No they don't! None of the other performers lip synced either. The purposely had her high above the crowd and away from the city lights, and kept the lighting dark on her stage because any flashing lights, glitter, camera flashes, etc. could trigger an episode of her symptoms. They created the most protected environment for her to be able to sing live.

The doc was more than 2 years ago, she has been doing physical therapy and vocal therapy nonstop since then. Even during all this, she recorded 5 new songs for Love Again. So even if it's not live, which I highly doubt that it isn't, it's a very recent pre-recording.

these days on such big evens orginizers even require from artist to pre-record in order to avoid any technical issues of flops. it is common standard now. I don`t know if this is live (looks like it) or not - but even if not? so what, if she recorded this like 2 weeks ago - it is still current.
It was pre-recorded a night before and the docu was filmed like 2 years ago. She has been working hard for the last years to get her voice back. If you listen to her interviews promoting the documentary, you will hear that her voice is strong and she can belt ;)

Normally no one sings live at events like this.They are not designed for live performances. Even her performance at the 1996 Olympics was not live.. The same goes for Whitney Houston's famous performance of the national anthem. It is very difficult in situations like this to create the right environment for 100% live performance.
