it doesn't matter which area of the bonnet is warmest... it only matters which area can provide air flow. the heat is extracted with airflow not by cutting the warm area :)

I did a long list of mods including bodywork, suspension and engine, the car basically ended up stage 3 with bigger turbo set up but was still useable for everyday though. Around 500bhp which seemed to be perfect for road and track, didn’t make it to the ring in that car as had other track cars at the time but I really miss it actually even though it’s not the nicest bmw money can buy it’s certainly a good value for money car. Unpopular opinion but I preferred it over the m4 I had, in some ways. His looks very high at the rear btw.
Measuring the outside hood temps isn’t really how you determine where the vents should go. Best advice is to look at where current M-cars put vents for the straight 6.
You are correct. Hood vents simply decrease the air pressure in the engine bay allowing for more air to flow into the grill. They are usually placed in a low pressure area on the hood or to manage the airflow around the car.

@@adrian6938 Noooooo, don’t do it… specially in a powerful car. Best option would be to do several laps and feel every corner, after that then you can try with slightly lower speed and deactivate the traction control to feel the limits of the car…
Usually i have a hard time believing the cars make as much power as their owners state. "800hp" will look more like around 550. With this one, i'm having a really hard time believing the power is at stock levels. Having driven plenty of these, i'm pretty much willing to bet its quite some ways above 400.
Yes, a 110hp E36 doesnt need that much to be faster than this. Just an engine, transmission, diff and entire suspension/cooling/brakes. You kids are funny 😂
@@sub7up. Ehh, it has a B58, a ZF8, 4 piston M sport brakes, and its not rotten like an E36. And dude drove from Romania with it. Pretty sure youre like 13 years old, 15 at max.

For the transmision you can use the G8x oil pan, it's aluminum and has cooling fins 24119504520 m3/m4 or 24119503407 X3/4/5M (bigger fins)

Just an FYI, heat measuring devices are susceptible to bad readings when you aim it at a reflective surface.
Not with that device, We measured in and out, in order to get some mapping to help us decide for the vents

Well bmw's already under rate and with a tune you could be 100hp over the stock numbers very easy.
@@triedproven9908 Yeap full stock just a map 420hp no problem. Add a downpipe, remove PF and boom 470hp. B58 is a nice engine.
