- Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips nahm auf Einladung von Mercedes-Rennleiter Alfred Neubauer 1955 an einigen Rennen in Schweden auf einem 300 SL teil. Hier traf er auf Fangio, Moss und Karl Kling, die den 300 SLR fuhren. Diesen Film hat Graf Trips selbst gedreht und geschnitten und anlässlich einer privaten Vorführung auch kommentiert. Seine Ausführungen sind im Original hier wiedergegeben.
Ein tolles, authentisches Zeitdokument und eine lebendige Erinnerung an diesen großartigen Sportsmann! Vielen Dank dafür.

Wolfgang's friends and fans were not only german, so most of us miss this info in english. I wish to thank Rheinold Louis for his admirable dedication to a man who was not only a great sportsman but a very beautiful human being, whose qualities make of him a an example for all to follow. He created the TCA formula junior, and the race circuit near Horrem to generously help young drivers practicing, freely, not out of personal gain, although he was not earning, by far, the fabulous sums that a driver like Schumacher has earnt along his career. Not even Moss ever did get near, yet he was the driver who most earned from races and advertising contracts, at that time. The Horrem-Kerpen circuit where Schumacher learnt to practice, freely, thanks to Trips, who set Schumacher's father as caretaker, now bears the name of Michael Schumacher, and is in fact a very commercial business, with shops etc, and where only youngsters with money can afford to practice. A luxury playground, I dare say. What kind of generosity is this? A distortion of Wolfgang's great humanitarian spirit to the benefit of the sport young community. A sad betrayal of his ideals. Somewhat of a shame, maybe.

Today, 08 March, I read that Rheinold Louis has closed Villa Trips, for lack of funds to go on? I hope I misunderstood, since I know just some words of german. It is a shocking news for us all, it's very regrettable that the german Minister for Sports etc has not understood that this IS a shame for Germany, showing lack of consideration and respect for a great champion , a sportman whose family too -his parents, and his widowed mother Thessa, till her death - tried and fought so much to keep the memory of their only son alive, as the memory of german car-racing history, to which Wolfgang contributed in such a unique, remarkable way . Is it possible that german authorities,officials, institutions like the German Automobile Club, have all denied help, funds to keep the Museum in function?! I can hardly believe it, it's just a terrible shame for your country. My respect goes to all who contributed to create Villa Trips, it's a day of sorrow for Rheinhold Louis and thousands others.
