You didn't show us squat. At the end you show a tube of glue and side staples and you never discussed anything other than laying out the shakes.

Thanks. I discovered red cedar shingles underneath my vinyl siding and I am in the process of restoring my cape cod home. Do you have any tips on weaving an inside corner?

I find using a block plane to smooth out the two pieces joining in the corner makes a tight fit.

Can you comment on the use of Jumbo tex as an underlayment? There is so much disagreement on what to use under western red cedar shingles. I've heard some say a double layer of jumbo tex, others swear by 30# felt, some say cedar breather, horizontal lathe, tyvec, etc, etc.
Also, I noticed you use a narrow crown stapler. The cedar bureau states no smaller than 7/16th crown. But narrow seems to work for you. What are your thoughts on narrow vs medium crown for cedar shingle installation?
    Thanks

Hello Dan, well done instal video.
Dan, I'm concisdering installing regular stock 4'x8'x 3/8'' plank or clabbered like, red/ white cedar on a front facade brick house. I like the lateral rather than vertical shake appearance. What backer board would you use as an inexpensive sub wall prior to the cedar install ? Much appreciated, Dan.

So you just use a pneumatic staple gun? Be debating about which tool is most efficient for awhile. I'm repairing old fishscales and putting on new.

He’s using 16 gauge nails STAINLESS, not electro galvanized. We use a coil gun 1 1/2 stainless rim shanks for a better hold, corners we use 18 gauge 1 1/2 brads
