    Our daughter has just completed her Art Exam. I have to admit, I hated seeing her so stressed out. Working long evenings, weekends and holidays. I just don't get our Education System. Stressing teens out is not Education. So many annotations. So thanks for sharing this video. I seriously don't know how teens do other subjects.

      Yes! There was never a time when I wasn't stressed over Art, which required SO much time I didn't really have time to study for 10 other subjects. However, when I looked back at it, I realised I enjoyed it despite all the stress so I decided to do it for A Level again. I hope your daughter ended up enjoying it, even just a little bit :)

      I chose death as my theme and dude.... *I STRESSED SO HARD!!!* Especially during this pandemic. Like I haven't got any skulls or dead related things at home nor do I have photographs and finding the artists was a lot harder, especially since it was different media. Luckily, my teacher saw how bad I was stressing and how far behind I was so she let me change my theme, so now I'm doing food :D Still, art GCSE is probably the most stressful course ever. Why is the feedback never endless too 😭 I love critism but man, it can get annoying.

      @@goaway4625 Good thing you could change your theme! (we weren't allowed to even choose lol) The criticism can get tiring but believe me, listen to them and they will help you a bunch! After all, your teachers will be the ones marking your work. I've learnt that doing what they want is the easiest way to get a higher grade (but you should be interested in their ideas too). Actively responding to feedback not only puts you in their good book but also improves your work.

    I’m currently in year 11 and I chose GCSE Art. Personally, it’s been great as I genuinely have a love for Art so I didn’t find the course hard but this will vary depending on you personally. GCSE Art is very time consuming so, definitely be prepared to put your heart and soul into it and put in the work as it’s a lot to do with detail, annotations and the quality of each piece. I spent almost all of my time working on Art and I’m predicted a step 9 . Just like any other subject you have to work hard and manage your time well to get good results.

      I managed to get eight 9s (including art) and three 8s. I don't really know how it happened tbh. In my case, I sacrificed a bit of sleep and free time to keep up to date with everything. I spent a lot of time focusing on art before the art exam (which should be earlier than all your other subjects) and then focused my revision on other subjects after the exam.

    I was actually thinking of switching to Art. I didn't take a creative subject, I'm really worried about it!
    I took History, Computer science, German and religious studies. I'd be switching Computer science.
    Any thoughts? Is it really bad not to take a creative subject? I'd switch out Computer science for art. I'm really stressed about whether I should switch to art or not. I've already missed around a month

      its fine not to take a creative subject at all, unless you want to do a creative a level or go into that field in the future. in fact, a lot of people from my school don't.

    • @studyingbutnotrlly
      @studyingbutnotrlly  5 лет назад +3

      i dont want to discourage you completely but art is quite hard to catch up on, especially if you already missed a month of it, (bc it keeps piling up) so if you enjoy computer science and only want to take art bc you're worried about not taking a creative subject, I'd suggest not switching.

    • @raze6919

      @@studyingbutnotrlly thank you. Honestly, I'm not really enjoying computer science. Originally, it was to have a creative subject. But now, Computer science just doesn't engage with me. But I've missed so much, I don't know what I want to do. But it's more in the medical/Journalism.
      Is Art very hard to pass/ get a good grade in? And the coursework sounds terrifying

    • @studyingbutnotrlly
      @studyingbutnotrlly  5 лет назад +1

      @@raze6919 It's very hard to catch up with art, to be very honest. I recently switched to A Level Art after 2 weeks and I'm struggling to catch up. Luckily the project I'm doing atm doesn't count towards my grade. However, that's not the case with GCSE, so I'd think deeply about switching rn.

    • @studyingbutnotrlly
      @studyingbutnotrlly  5 лет назад +1

      @@raze6919 As for the grades, you can get a 7/8 (9 is possible too, ofc) grade with hard work, even if you aren't as talented as others, but by this I mean going to do extra work at lunch at least twice a week, which is what I did. Secondly, teachers have a really big impact. For art, teacher guidance is what gets you through GCSE because they set your tasks and are the ones to grade your work. I'd suggest looking at your school's past exam results to see if they're good.

    The worst thing is my parents believe I’m actually good at art and have set very high standards for me and first of all... I’m lazy af and I get really inpatient and have no sense of time management and I love anime and would love to draw it but I’m trash at drawing anime which is the only thing I genuinely enjoy drawing and everything else is so time consuming and I already cry myself to bed. Wish me luck😭😭😭😭

    • @studyingbutnotrlly
      @studyingbutnotrlly  3 года назад +1

      I'm not sure about Graphics because my school didn't offer that. One of my best friends took Music for GCSE and I can tell that she found it really hard too. I can ask her for more details if you'd like. My school only allowed students with at least a Grade 4 for any instruments to take Music, but I think it's ideal to have a higher grade than that otherwise it will be harder and require more effort.
