How to Gram Stain Bacteria - Techniques Demonstration

In this video Dr. Patrick demonstrates each step of the Gram staining technique. Gram staining is a differential stain commonly used to identify bacteria in lab. In this demonstration video, Dr. Patrick stains two heat fixed slides. One of the heat fixed slides looks clear, the other one looks more opaque. She stains the slides with crystal violet; fixes the slides with iodine; then decolorize the sides; finally she counter stains with safranin. Pay close attention to the decolorizing step where most errors will occur.
