I'm a Nova Scotian living in San Francisco and however beautiful it may be here, seeing this video reminds me again that Nova Scotia and its people are some of the wonders of the world. You'd probably bring tears to Robbie Burns if he could hear you play his words so beautifully.
I've been in New York many times and this beautiful song sums up my feelings so well when I'm away from Scotland. I live in Glasgow ,so close to those Highlands John Fegan..
Thank you, this song is lovely, great harmonies. I just heard this song on CBC radio recently. What a talent-filled family. It seems so much good music comes out of beautiful Cape Breton. I hope to visit there again.
This innovative recording of Robert Burns's ode to the Scottish Highlands is an international affair in itself. With New York & Scotland as the backgrounds, it gives it a fine flavor all its own.
I moved to Nova Scotia ( Annapolis valley)with a long time girlfriend. We broke up there and I moved to California. A friend made me a tape called East goes West with all Nova Scotia music about breakup and leaving and missing places. needless to say this is on the tape and gives me great memories.
Farewell to the Highlands, farewell to the North, The birth-place of Valour, the country of Worth; Wherever I wander, wherever I rove, The hills of the Highlands for ever I love. My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here; My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer; A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe, My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go. Farewell to the mountains high covered with snow; Farewell to the straths and green valleys below; Farewell to the forests and wild-hanging woods; Farewell to the torrents and loud-pouring floods. My heart's in the Highlands, my heart is not here; My heart's in the Highlands a-chasing the deer; A-chasing the wild-deer, and following the roe, My heart's in the Highlands wherever I go. Robert Burns
@Glorywyn Lucky you! I feel the same way too.. Longing after a place I've never been. I hope I get the opportunity to move there too some day. I wish you a lot of luck, and I hope you finally find your home! :)
i love being Scottish, I am however, a lowlander jock( brit slang for a scotsman) I am not sure we know it down on the lowlands but we are not liked by the highlanders, lots of history bla bla bla, to be honest I don't give a big smelly poo because I love everyone ( almost) even the english! live and let live, be open minded and don't let anyone tell you different. I love life and wan't everyone else to be positive and do the same!
