  • Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt said the UK gross domestic product figures released on Friday were "encouraging." GDP jumped 0.6% in the first quarter compared to the previous three months, according to the Office for National Statistics. "I think more significant is the longer term statistics we're now getting about our prospects and what we can see now when it comes to jobs," Hunt said.

Don't get too smug Hunt because the growth forecasts have been sharply revised down for next year with the UK having the lowest and slowest growth in 2025 Thanks to the CONservatives.

Those forecasts are pessimistic, already Q1 is ahead of those forecasts, so an upgrade will come for sure. I don't like the Tories either but 0.6% is a pretty good number for a quarter.

@@LA90598 Those forecasts are realistic for next year. 0.6 % growth in 3 months is appalling. In July last year year we lost 0.7 % in one month. In this country activities such as doctor and hospital visits are classified as economic activity. WE have a record number of people off sick. Therefore the GDP for which is bound to increase. The USA has far better economic growth with 3.2%, but that's because they don't have a CONservative government.
