@@viradadrums thank you! That's what I thought about the sticking. I'll keep practicing. Cheers from Colombia! I appreciate a lot your attention and video!
Hi! Great info here, thank you. What is the thickness of the batter head? Was going to try a remo emperor hazy snare side (5mil) on a 12” steel snare with some phosphor bronze guitar strings on the throw off. Thoughts?
Almost all Brazilian caixas played in samba schools use a single ply nylon head that is approximately 10-mil on both the top and bottom head, such as this version: viradadrums.com/product/ivsom-nylon-heads/ This is durable for loud volumes and sensitive enough to get good response from the wire strings. Typical drumset snare drums have a thicker (7-14mil) top head and a thinner (2-5 mil) bottom head. The thinner bottom head gets more response from the snares. These are the type of wires used on most caixas: viradadrums.com/product/bordao/ But if you have some extra guitar strings of the same gauge, those will work. Just get them the same tension. This is exactly what I did fifteen years ago when I didn't have a real caixa yet!

I can´t find the Difference between 5 and 6, sounds very similar. Could you tell me? ^^
Julián Hernández Hi! Those two are very similar. They are the same sticking, just with slight difference in phrasing and accents.
