We all know wrestling isn't real fighting but there's a reasonable expectation for wrestlers to be incredible athletes and generally very tough people as well as good showmen. Punk exhibited absolutely zero of those qualities with his foray into mma, it absolutely made wrestling look bad.
UFC fighters train for years in multiple disciplines just to get a chance to fight there. I think Punk had something like a year's worth of training before his first bout in the UFC. It's just like Kimbo Slice when he fought in the UFC briefly. Dana White said something along the lines of Slice being the toughest guy at the bar-be-que, but he's not a UFC fighter. It doesn't matter how big of a name you are or what your reputation is. You can't expect someone with minimal training to walk into the UFC and hang with guys who have been training for it practically their whole lives.
