    Gilson, I've seen you many times with Squeeze from the 80's and I've gotta say you didn't miss a beat and even if you did what the fuck, take care man.

    Hmmm.
    Phil Seaman likened drumming in a big band to being in a rowing boat, rowing along towing the Queen Mary. Through a sea of Mars bars!

    As an adjunct to the Bellson story: when, in 1972 I was a drums/percussion student at Kneller Hall (then the British Army School of Music) I had complimentary tickets to what was called a "drum battle" with Bellson, Buddy Rich, Kenny Clare and a top notch big band at the Lyceum in London. A fabulous event, the memory of which I treasure - especially the mock "fighting" from Louis and Buddy. As it happens, I'm pretty sure that Carl Palmer was there on stage as well, at some point.
