Thanks for the update So what is the minimum wages in Canada, i guess it should be up to 5 thousand dollars, so that if the couple are both working the minimum income in the family will be about 10 thousand dollars. Otherwise they can't fix their bills monthly.
Well a quick google search will reveal that. The minimum wage in Canada is $15. So if one on minimum wage works every working day for the full 8 hrs daily. That’s $15 * 8= $120 daily. $120 multiplied by 20 working days in a month is $2,400. Because of the way the system is structured many couple cannot both work full time because of the children. Do the maths. So Yes, many people ARE NOT meeting up darl.
For me, running a small business or side hustle provides a steady income while staying at home with the kids. I have a few business ideas for stay-at-home moms in the diaspora. For example, you could start making t-shirts with a home machine, and also sell coffee mugs or other merchandise, which you can advertise on your platform. Another option is to sell homemade baked goods or prepare specialty meals for fellow Nigerians, promoting your services online and using Uber Eats for pickup and delivery. These are just a few ways to earn some extra income from home without putting in many hours of work.
@NezePeperempe well explained, but you haven't stressed out that the cost of housing largely depends on the province and the areas in that province, eg in Sydney Nova Scotia I found 3 bd 2.5 bath house at $1200, same as Thunderbay Ontario. Besides most companies pay bi-weekly which makes it easier to save.
If you want to reduce food cost, try to reduce Nigerian foods you guys eat. Especially food that are imported, will be more expensive. Example replace yams with potatoes. Replace ponded yams with oats. You blend the oat. Etc
I am a single 56 yr young female in S.California, U.S.A( divorced and adult son resides in another state with his family) My 4 bedroom, 2 and 1/2 bathroom home with pool, jacuzzi, 2 car garage is fully paid off. I made determined effort to pay this home off in 15 yrs. I pay property taxes twice per annum. It’s more cost effective for me to remain in this home, than to rent a 1 bedroom apartment in this county. I know the costs of its maintenance, and caring for myself at the standard that I like. I look at younger people with 3-5 chn, and wonder how they afford their rent, car payment, food, health care, utilities, child care/ school fees, food, entertainment etc. I pray our Heavenly Father continues to provide for young couples and their families. And then, for most of us, we send $$ back to our homeland monthly and as needed. It
Good on you sis! That is very commendable how you were able to pay off your home in a place Luke California where housing costs are nearly not affordable. I used to live in Stockton, in California, I owned a duplex of which I rented out the other side of it to help with the mortgage payments, it was a good deal at the time but then Covid hit and tenants were given the eviction moratorium, which led to many tenants skipping paying rents. I was forced to sell my home and moved to the south in Tennessee. At the time, houses were dirt cheap in most suburbs in Tennessee, and because I didn't want to risk making any mortgage payments, we paid cash from the proceeds of the stockton home sale, and settled for more space in the surburbs. The peace of mind that comes with knowing you own your home, is just unbelievable. And I wish that for anyone reading this ❤🙏🏽🙏🏽
Oh Neze, you said something very insightful which I hope your viewers will understand. You used the phrase, “you need to calculate the value of your time”. That is a very important concept that I had to understand when I first migrated to the UK. Time is money when you’re abroad. That’s why services like hairdressing are very expensive because you’re not only paying for the hairdresser’s skill, you’re paying for the time invested

Neze, I live in Vancouver. I enjoy your videos alot. You see farmers markets, I run away from them after I was sold 2 bunch of spinach for 20 dollars. Also, your video is extremely accurate; the cost of living here is insane.
It's funny because my first japa country was going to be Canada, I had applied to Vancouver Island University for an MBA in 2011, my admission was accepted, I paid my fees in full while waiting on my visa to be approved. I was not granted the visa despite having lots of Visas on my passport and thought I met all the requirements. I cried eh, as if my life was over lol. Maybe it was how God wanted it, because shortly after that denial I decided to take a vacation to the UK and that was where I met my husband, an American. He visited me many times since it was easier for him to visit. My US visa had expired and renewing it was going to be challenging. We got married in Portharcourt and the school refunded my tuition, that was how I found myself here in the US. The marriage didn't last unfortunately and somehow I feel God used him as an instrument to bring me to the US, I don't know why the US but who knows perhaps this is what's in my cards. I have since remarried and living my best life. From time to time I ask myself what my life would have been like if I had gotten the Canadian visa that i desperately wanted, would my life have been better or worse? I guess I would never know lol.
I think it all depends on the province you're in.In Québec never had to pay renters insurance and you can still get a 3 bedroom for less than $1500 a month. Also daycare is only $7/day😊
Yes, turning off lights when not in use is very helpful. Also, To reduce utility bills, do laundry at night. Also , gas (fuel) price is cheaper at night.
The problem is not to japa from Nigeria, but to have a structure that will pay your bills abroad . I would say, if one has a job in Nigeria paying in foreign currency, no need to japa, one saves more in Nigeria.
Using LED light bulbs 💡 in each room in a house reduces the cost of monthly electricity bills and are known to be environmentally friendly (energy life saving). They also last longer than using standard light bulbs 💡. As for insurances, having a special package insurance for both a car 🚗 and house 🏠 is best. It all depends on the insurance companies out there that do offer special discounts. Wawanesa, Johnson & Johnson, etc. offers great special package 📦 insurance deals. Have taken the matter to ombudsman, who after their investigation, did nothing to help. If you live in the western world, just get ready to fork out for bills!!! At times after paying the energy bill you might have nothing left for your food
Okay am 5th to comment. I live in Finland 🇫🇮 we are a family of 4 monthly shopping costs us 500 euro then 400 euro per month for expenses here and there 😊 Our rent is 1200 eur for 2 bedroom
A lot of immigrants are struggling (and have been for decades) in the West. The era of content creation has exposed what has always been known. Even educated with decent jobs are on very tight budget. Meanwhile family back home think we’re rich because we’re in the West.

Neze if you can drive to Edmonton for vacation. Costs are a bit better here. Reason is I own a 3 bedroom duplex with finished basement with an additional room, bathroom and parlour all for $1300 per month. That’s my mortgage and my insurance is $67 monthly for the house and I live in a high brow neighbourhood. so before you buy a home in Calgary consider other cities in Alberta.
Wow! That's great. Seems you're among the lucky ones who got really good interest rates. I doubt that this estimate is applicable to buyers today, with current interest rates.
Wow Neze am just hearing about this no claim cost now. I didn’t know about it. I relocated from South Africa to US and I should have bring the no claim cost letter. Hmmmmm……. Canada’s rental and taxes is almost the same with California rent and taxes. Living abroad is not easy jari
No claims letter is no longer acceptable. Please check again, they stopped accepting it since January this year. Quite unfortunate but I suspect something may have happened that resulted to that rejection.
Rent is paid annually in Nigeria? Wow, I love that I learn new things on your channel. About electricity, check with your provider because they have peak and off peak times. What it means is that the unit price of electricity or gas fluctuates based on supply and demand which is based usually on time of the day. For example, on a very hot day, if everyone has the AC on, electricity will be expensive per unit. Some providers offer fixed price per unit of electricity or gas. So what this means is that if you are on a variable plan electricity tends to be cheap at night time when people are asleep. If you’re on such an electricity or gas plan then do laundry and run the dishwasher at night say around midnight.
I love your vlogs even though am in Finland 🇫🇮 and the social benefits are similar to Canada 🇨🇦 . My dream country is Canada 🇨🇦 life no balance some people are looking for a way to relocate here am looking for a way to Japa in Canada 😂😂😂😂😂.
The rent issues too😂 Over here in Gambia 🇬🇲 rent is very expensive too but we pay monthly here. . We also have personal meters for waters and light( you buy yourself). For me i think Nigeria is a bit better for rent issues
My sister please rent in the Gambia is far better than many African countries especially Nigeria and Senegal…Rent in the Gambia is not expensive dear unless if you want to live beyond your earnings if you want to go in for appointments that are 100 or 200 thousand per year and you don’t earn that in a year then it most be expensive
Rent in Nigeria is annually but still expensive...The average price of 3 bedroom in most Nigerian cities now is close to a million .So assuming you decide to pay this monthly...it will be around 100k monthly. A lot of households earn minimum wage of 70k... Tax in Nigeria is around 25%. A lot of people do shortcuts that's why they think things are cheaper here
@@van3390 it depends on where you live. Don't just generalise. There are very cheap and affordable cities and towns to live in the middle belt, north, and even West. not everybody is on minimum wage, many people are doing very well. Why are we Nigerians always quick to counter any positive thing outsiders say about us. Yearly rent is the best and you wouldn't know until u live in many other African countries. Renting in Nigeria remains one of the cheapest in Africa. make your findings..
@Chuwalker Can you mention the cheap cities and the rental prices? We aren't disputing that a lot of persons aren't on minimum wage but what is the percentage?? You mentioned that yearly rental is the best...really?? For tenants or for landlords?? If the yearly rental is the best...why then are some governors trying to make it a monthly thing??
The major bill you never mentioned it. What about mortgage/rent/ property tax/ hydro, embrige. Thank you very much, I hope our family back home can see it. My regards to your family.
What's the point leaving in a country where you earn 10.000 dollars 💸 and still complaining 🤔 , so how much do you save per month and family back in Nigeria 🇳🇬 🤔
I love my country Nigeria..i only visit my relatives abroad and return back.. what's the essence living where one isn't comfortable with bogus bills... I'm excited doing my Nursing work here in my country Nigeria... suffering is a choice.. living anywhere in the world is a choice...i choose mine wisely
Neze you said it all. Thanks for educating us on this. I’m in a professional group where a post made by this lady Adeola Fayehum was posted. She listed the money earned by nurses and doctors abroad but she failed to list out the monthly expenses and how much that will be left after that. My dear colleague, I know you love your country Nigeria and want to work there but you can give your family a better life abroad than back home. If you plan yourself well and do a breakdown of income and expenses, you can save at the end of the month. Nurses are not valued and given the respect they deserve in Nigeria. People die from emergency situations because the government doesn’t care and don’t want to put things in place to better the lives of their citizens. I hope you reconsider since you have family that can help you relocate.
I live in Maryland. While others see us "chopping " life on social media and looking happy and fulfilled, the reality is very different . If you know you know😅. While I'm grateful by the grace of God that my husband and I moved out of rental homes due to all the restrictions that comes with renting, our mortgage for a 4bd rooms, 3.5bths plus a finished basement containing 2 sleeping rooms is $5400. By the time we pay utilities and all the small bills, health and car insurances, we're close to $8000 a month.😂 so all the joli joli you people see is to distract ourselves ooh, else depression will come knocking. With all this load, family members back home are also expecting 😂😂😂
@@NaanaRabbiI have about same bill and I have only 1 job ..hubby also have only 1 job...I don't over work...All you need is a good degree good job 40hrs/a week. Healthcare and IT pays...

@livingvictoriouslywithglo Do your research and be convinced before embarking on relocating. It is not for the faint hearted. We have Nigerians who are prospering here and those that are struggling. Some don't even have a job for over a year. So weigh the pros and cons and have a strategic plan.

Oh my goodness!!!!wow!!!1300???
Wow! That's great.
Seems you're among the lucky ones who got really good interest rates. I doubt that this estimate is applicable to buyers today, with current interest rates.
Really? That's a good deal
Homes are very expensive in Calgary. 3 bedrooms with one bathroom and toilet is $1,800
I pay $850 for 2 bedroom, one and half bathroom condo plus garage in Ohio, USA.
Super cheap. What part of Ohio
@@TheDosuFamily Dayton
Great price. I need to move. In Massachusetts u won't even see a studio for that price
Putting off the light helps alot❤
It doesn’t if you use energy saving bulbs. You will even see the annual cost of using the bulb at all times .
Love your videos
I dey off lights ooo😂😂😂😂😂
I can relate sis! Same thing with us over here😊
NO DULL MOMENT WITH NEZE
Very correct Neze, boys eat a lot ooooo😂
I love your vlogs even though am in Finland 🇫🇮 and the social benefits are similar to Canada 🇨🇦 .
My dream country is Canada 🇨🇦 life no balance some people are looking for a way to relocate here am looking for a way to Japa in Canada 😂😂😂😂😂.
The rent issues too😂
Over here in Gambia 🇬🇲 rent is very expensive too but we pay monthly here.
A lot of people do shortcuts that's why they think things are cheaper here
We are still earning 30K minimum wage in Nigeria, they've not started paying the 70k minimum wage, please.
In the USA food and rent has now reached the same level.
The major bill you never mentioned it. What about mortgage/rent/ property tax/ hydro, embrige. Thank you very much, I hope our family back home can see it. My regards to your family.
Yes Canada is very expensive l was there before now am in Kenya Africa
Neze can you drop the link for those food sharing groups
So, with all these comments I just read. Is Nigeria better than Canada?
In USA, VA ,1 bedroom cost $1650,excluding utilities 😢😢. Homelessness is a major problem.
I can guess it's food, daily consumption and you can't do without it except you are on dry fasting 😂😂
You’re 100 percent right for food it’s 1500 - 2000 dollars for a family of six same here in the USA and that one na management oooooo
What's the point leaving in a country where you earn 10.000 dollars 💸 and still complaining 🤔 , so how much do you save per month and family back in Nigeria 🇳🇬 🤔
I didn't hear any complaints. She is just laying it bare on how much she spends due to her family size and sharing some tips on how to balance it out.
Hey love,am from Uganda but i just love you.
Beautiful write up darling.
But bogus bills can also come with bogus earnings.
Let’s pray for grace wherever we find ourselves 💕
Today, I'm the first to comment 🎉🎉🎉🎉. On my seat to learn
Chai bill choke abeg😂😂,abeg please help me with link for food stuff sharing please if you have abeg am new
House rent is really expensive abroad
Everyday you go out you most buy something, sometimes i juste stay home.
😂
2nd here!❤
Neze Nwa❤
O Abasi mbok...
Does make a difference switch off lights when not in use
Eiish😥 then you must be working like hell dear. This is alot
This is about my bill.
@@NaanaRabbiI have about same bill and I have only 1 job ..hubby also have only 1 job...I don't over work...All you need is a good degree good job 40hrs/a week. Healthcare and IT pays...
@NaanaRabbi Yes sis it's a lot. Thank God we're able to make it 🙏. It's easier when you both are working. So we can afford. However as compared to some other states, that's pretty expensive.
Exactly dear. The secret is not to limit yourself to the minimum wage jobs. Study well and wisely. Choosing the right career is the ultimate.
Fooddd
Wow nowhere is easy oo😂😂😂😂
Oh Nigeria government should be doing that too
I have even stopped calculating the amount I spend on food, because thinking of it,gives me panic attack sometimes.
😂😂😂😂
Jesus Canada is so expensive in everything, i will never go to live in Canada, i live in Europe not so expensive like this rent food e.t.c not Canada una dey try oooooooo
$400-600 in light is very high.
Those of us planning to come over to Canada, should we stay back?
If you're a hardworking and you know it's in God's will for you to be here. You will manage. I'm speaking from experience 😅
@livingvictoriouslywithglo Do your research and be convinced before embarking on relocating. It is not for the faint hearted. We have Nigerians who are prospering here and those that are struggling. Some don't even have a job for over a year. So weigh the pros and cons and have a strategic plan.
God's will to be here!!!!@@livingvictoriouslywithglo

Feeding
A mnth you re talking abt 10k$😊
Neze, you will not KEE somebody. 😅😅 call your provions groceries. Then call African food stuffs.
Welcome to reality you should have stayed in Nigeria it is not easy you are a late comer
Know your place dummy!
She is enlightening people not complaining.
Neze, you’re very correct in all you said about expenses and bills in Canada. I live in Dallas TX and it’s just exactly the same. We have constant utilities,no power outages because we pay monthly for all these, but any time you did not pay when they are due, they will be disconnected. The funny part of it is that everyone is on your own here, even though we have neighbors, you cannot go their house to gbala attach 😅😢when your utilities example electricity is disconnected like we do in Nigeria…. Here is “everybody you’re on your own” However, the ofe olugbu (bitter leaf soup) you mentioned, you can buy fresh or frozen one from the African store and use it to cook your soup. That’s where I buy African vegetables whenever I want to cook African food.
