  • I already expected Lodge Cheren to be better than OG Cheren, but Purrloin being better than our only Liepard unit is pretty funny honestly. I think Lodge Cheren is very good by Lodge standards. Generally he’s a solid unit, but considering how minuscule Special Defense debuffs are for f2p units (and the fact that this is technically a completely free unit) his kit in general is very good for f2p’s. Even outside his Sp. Def debuffs, he has a lot of utility with Dark Pulse (with Aggravation 1 as a passive) and a solid nuke as well, though his DPS is very lacking.
I think Lucian overall is still a better Sp. Def debuffer do to his spread, but Cheren is still worthwhile imo. Even with his Fake Tears being single target, his flinches are very useful in comparison to Lucian’s Confusion spamming. I feel Lodge Cheren’s worth is really dependent on how many Sp. Def debuffing units you have. He’s very much worth while, but if you have Lucian and/or Palentines Sawn I don’t think he’s as necessary as Lodge Skyla. That being said, he’s still very much worth getting, even if you have tons of Sp. Def debuffers, just due to his extra utility. Enjoy!
Timestamps to battles, grids and lucky skills:
    ------------------
    0:00 F2P Debuffing
Very painful clear, but one I felt was necessary to show his usefulness in f2p scenarios. I tried originally using Torchic, but bro barely lasted until first sync, so I swapped to Classic Giovanni instead. Probably would’ve been easier to sync with Giovanni first, but I wanted to mimic as if Torchic was still on the team.
    3:46 Overkill Offense
NC Calem + Brycen Man can pretty much make any Dark damage dealer do crazy damage, so this clear pretty much asks the question “How much damage can Lodge Cheren really do?”. I mean, his dps was ok, but that Sync Nuke is very strong. Probably close to what his EX sync would be like with only Dark Zone as well.
    6:52 Cheaper Offense
Lodge Cheren is pretty much a free unit, so I figured I’d do a semi-cheap clear with him. I feel this two were cheap enough, since I feel most players probably have these two at this point. Plus, no fully free unit really helps max Cheren’s buffs very fast (at least non that don’t get oh-koed easily), so I figured Lodge Dawn was fair enough to use here.
    10:34 General Debuffing
Lodge Cheren is best used in these scenarios, as Sp. Def debuffer and when he’s down so try that, fish for flinches. I didn’t get any here, but Fantina’s nuke is so strong, it didn’t really matter all that much anyways. Lodge Cheren in general I’d very good with Smarty Pants users, like Giovanni.
    13:26 Gauntlet 2v1 Example
Despite his utility, Lodge Cheren’s better in shorter battle content like CS and early Battle Rally. So, I couldn’t think of many LG teams for Lodge Cheren, since isn’t even very tanky either. His only really useful mode for LG is Hit and Heal on his TM.
I didn’t want to duo Cresselia two showcases in a row for mental health reasons, so I duoed Bulu instead because he’s easy. I originally had Lodge Giovanni as tank, but it was too dependent on his Poison and Potion MPR for my patience, so I swapped to Skyla and called it a day. Admittedly, Speedsters Sync would’ve probably been more helpful than TM MPR, but oh well.

To be fair, Skyla can solo Tapu Bulu so even the worst damage dealer can partner with her and easily duo Tapu Bulu. That's more like a Skyla showcase and not Cheren's.

Controversial opinion, but people be mad sleeping on Grimsley and Liepard. His DPS may be ass, but between +6 Evasion, Ridicure, Catalytic Cure, +4 Attack/Sp. Attack and +3 Crit, he has the makings of a one-man army. Just needs some help offensively with auxillery DPS , but his nuke is damn good for how much setup he can do by himself.
