@@danujus77 now its bad news...
Thank you for wording it out, couldn't said it better.
Please remake this using the HQ Audio and cutscenes when the remakes come out!
Sure thing!
An online Homeworld MMORPG would be fucking great!
This game was so intense.. It was so unique...the scenarios..the ideea!
It really marked me and influenced. I still make sketches of ships based on the ideea of Homeworld.:(
I think I'm gonna search the Cd and install this game again!
This is a cake walk...
Thank you so much for uploading this! Could you do me the infinite kindness of uploading the cutscenes themselves as well? I Haven't been able to find them on youtube in decent quality. Thanks again for the OST.
You know they just announced they are making a new Homeworld and supposedly re-releasing the first two with original and an HD remake.
welp, HW3 a thing now
The closest thing that would come to this idea is an upcoming MMO RTS called Novus Aeterno! Check it out, you'll probably like it then!
@ArthurPhoenix
Definitely worth doing, after all these years, the game can still pull me like a black hole ;-)
it's more of an allusion to the exile of Muhammad: "Al-Hijra"هجرة from Mecca to Medina.
Hiigara was inspired by this :)
mine too
in memory of the officer who didn't survive the interrogation o7

@3Helm

And unfortunately that is the best quality you can get :(
@Axatar How is an allusion to Muhammad? Kadesh is an egyptian term so it isnt islamic.
He is right about Hiigara i checked out the wiki and found this:
"Hiigara may be a reference to the "Hijra" in Islam, where the prophet Muhammad left the city of Mecca with his followers to avoid an assassination. After traveling to the city which would become Medina, he eventually returned to Mecca after defeating the Meccan tribes. The Homeworld War in some respects worked similarly, with the Exiled Hiigarans returning to their homeland after much battling."
Misterdazzling
so the game promotes islam or just a retelling because IMHO Muhammad is nothing more than a false prophet that kills dogs for pleasure and treating women like cattle
***** Uhhh no its just the name for the "HOME" planet of the Hiigarans nothing more
I thought so
+zgrillo2004 looks like we got a Muslim hater
OI----___----IO
Seems like Homeworld is an allusion to Jerusalem. The Jewish people have been excised from Jerusalem and throughout history has been attempting to return to the holy city.
There are also a lot of middle eastern influenced music in the soundtrack. For example this as well as many other songs (turanic raider theme) feature the mizmar
It definitely has the vibes. Kharak might be an allusion to Kerak, a city in Jordan famous for taking part in the crusades.
Homeworld took inspirations from many sources, such as Jewish, (Old) Egyptian, Arabic and Indian history and beliefs.
In my opinion, Homeworld's story were inspired from abrahamic stories. The exiles are obviously based on the story of moses and the jews who are going to the promised land. The name "Higara" is a referance to "Hijra" from islam, the journey of prophet muhammad's who left mecca to medina to avoid discrimination from meccan tribes. And don't forget about the fucking "garden of KADESH".
the musics also borrowed many influence from egyptian, arabic, indian and asia. The Taiidan and Gaalsien got that indian vibes, the progenitors' are literally in sanskrit, the Siidim got the middle eastern/indian string instruments on their music, and the Vaygrs are reminiscent of the mongol khanates and tatars.
Man, i love homeworld so much :')
