They won’t learn from this though. They had an opportunity going forward with ME4 to treat Andromeda like an ignored side project. And instead they’re going to try and incorporate MEA into the OT - that is not a sign of a studio who learned from their past failure.
If they respected the previous games instead of trying to appeal to "modern" newcomers, it would have helped the franchise. The dialogue lacks depth, coming across as sophomoric and uninspired, which detracts from any emotional connection to the characters. To top it off, the gameplay mechanics are clunky and far from enjoyable. The controls feel unpolished, making combat and exploration a chore rather than the engaging experience you’d expect from a Dragon Age title. They hated the previous lore enough to want to wipe the slate clean so they wouldn't have to adhere to it. All Veilguard is, is an excuse to wrap up the last scraps of DA lore so they can never bother with it again. The end goal, IMO, was to wipe the slate totally clean so they could use the franchise name and goodwill without any effort to ever reference the past of Thedas again.
