I own a pair of 52mm Randolph Engineering Pilot Aviators in 23K Gold and Green AGX lens. It’s a very popular US Navy Pilot look. I absolutely love mine, which are also prescription
I just purchased the Randolph 23K White Gold SkyTech Glass Polarized - Cobalt in blue color and they are the best sunglasses I have ever had. I collect Maui Sunglasses but now I am switching to Randolph.
This was the best history lesson on aviators I've seen. I own 2 American Optical "Generals" and think they're the best quality pair of glasses I've ever had.
Hey man, Just wanted to let you know that you were the deciding factor and I placed an order for a pair of Nicks Builder pro's as I begin my career as an electrician. Keep making awesome videos and much love from Maine :D
I owned, bent up and broke a couple pair of Ray Ban Aviators back in the 80's and 90's. My favorite sunglasses by far are Maui JIm's. Real Glass that has a treatment that really improves the optics. After decades of bending metal frames, I wear their plastic and carbon fiber frames. Costa's are good too, but Maui Jim's are special. You should try them out! Btw, they have Aviators too. I'd put their customer service against anyone's.
Just discovered your channel. Are we twins? Carhartt Detroit jacket, Red Wing Iron Rangers, selvedge denim, aviator sunglasses… I bet your closet looks a lot like mine. Hopefully more organized though.
With the Aviators and Handlebar Moustache you remind me of Joakim Broden of the heavy metal band Sabaton. Your videos are always entertaining and insightful. Keep up the good work.
I've been wearing aviator style sunglasses for 15 years and it's still the best style of sunglasses to have. Nothing looks as bad ass or as classic as aviator style sunglasses. I've got a pair of ray ban outdoorsman and a pair of shooter sunglasses and i wear them all the time. i know that ray ban does not have the best quality but for me they have some of the best looking sunglasses around.
I love Ray Ban cause they are the most known and with good reason. I know they aren't the best also but they are my first pick if I have nothing else...I'd want Ray Bans. But I am interested in some Randolphs.
HaHa!!🤣. Didn't even realize the thumbnail before you cut it in the vid. Great video as always, Sir.🙌, just broke my last glasses, so this was very timely
i own ao 57 mm glass skull but they slide down bridge of my nose. i guess nose pads need adjusting or maybe i need get them in 55 mm glass baynot or nylon versions
Favorite Randolph pairs: Gold/tan Sportsman Chrome/cobalt Aviator II Gunmetal/brown Fusion Aviator Gold/cobalt Concorde Bronze/autumn Anderson Black/orange Sportsman Chrome/gray Sportsman Matte chrome/gray Aviator (skull temple) Matte chrome/cobalt Aviator Black/gray Aviator White gold/cobalt Concorde Matte chrome/AGX Concorde Gold/tan Aviator II White Gold/Cobalt Aviator Gunmetal/acadian Anderson Gunmetal/acadian Yeager Black/gray Intruder Black/gold Aviator (limited edition) Ok, so I realize that doesn’t narrow it down very much, but those are just some of the pairs I’ve bought over the last two years!
Randolph definitely has some sturdy frames and awesome lenses but I question the quality control on some of their sunglasses. I don't know if its because I got them from clear out sales but the two pairs I've bought have left plenty to be desired. Mind you I'm ocd when it comes to taking care of my sunglasses so the defects I've come across don't have to do with poor maintenance on my part.
Out of the 40+ pairs of Randolph’s I’ve purchased, I only remember two defects. One pair bought on closeout from eBay had a slight distortion of the lens, and another pair purchased directly from Randolph Engineering had a mismatched lens (maybe missed an anti-reflective layer on one of them). Randolph fixed the problem for free.
I am a big fan of sunglasses, I have tried everything from the most commercial ones like Ray Ban and Oakley to the less so like Revo and Serengeti. For me there is no better sun lens like the Serengeti's drivers, especially the polarized and photochromic ones. I have not tried the Randolphs yet, I hope to try them soon. Do you have any recommendation of the type of lens that I should buy for driving?
I have 7 pairs oF Ray Bans..3 well maybe you could say 4 are aviators. The 4th pair though isn't the classic aviator but kinda that style. Anyway the three pairs are what I wear 90% of the time. I am interested in some RE ones but I really don't need them now.
Hey Carl, Koral, Kaarl...! You got your eyes protected, CHECK, and all that... But what about protecting your face from the sun? The Beard is the face's own RAY BAN, man! ;P
I've always worn high end sunglasses all my life. I'm somewhat of a sunglass freak. I don't own a ton of glasses but I do have pairs from Oakley, Julbo, Vuarnet, Ray Ban, Smith and Serengeti. I've also worked in outdoor retail since 1985. I also spent nine years working on aircraft in the Air Force before that. It may sound odd but I have never heard of Randolph before. Just looked on their site after seeing this video. They've got what I've been looking for that Ray Ban doesn't. Looks like I'm buying another pair of glasses.
6:20 can someone explain to me why a sailor who doesn’t see daylight for days or weeks at a time need sunglasses to fit under a gas mask? I’d imagine you’d only be wearing the mask inside the sub if there some kind of leak, but I’m just a layman
I would love to get a paid of these but man... I’m having a hard time justifying 200-300 on a pair of glasses I may lose, or the dog chews up. That much on boots or on a nice jacket? Sure, but glasses? I’m trying to justify but just cannot get myself to do it haha.
Have a pair of Randolph and a pair of the Costa 580 glass Both are very nice but I would give the edge to costa for blocking the sun and glare Tested them both driving with bright sun Costa was better
Costa 580G is definitely a good lens for glare. A lot depends on the shape of the lens and frame too - how much light the pair lets in around the top and sides. Costa’s are excellent for fishing, but I like the styling better in general on Randolph’s, American Optical, etc.
The costa green glass lenses are one of my favorites (They're neck and neck with Maui) too bad their paired with one of the cheapest feeling frames in the industry. So I'm not paying 270 bucks for something that feels like a 40 dollar pair that you can get at a Sportsman's warehouse.
Hey, the summertime is coming. Might as well keep that look. It's pretty badass. I can't stand having my beard in the summertime. Comes off first day of spring. Haha
@@CarlMurawski I like those. I really like more squared wayfarer styles. Ray-Ban makes the Justin , Oakley has the Holbrook and Frogskin. The persol 3048 is really nice too.
Not a fan of the Biden look either. Check out the Randolph aviators highest quality glasses I've ever owned. I've owned Oakley's and they are literally overpriced gas station glasses.

Agreed, they’re fantastic
Just copped a pair of Randolph concords because of your recommendation! I always try to buy American when I can! 💪🇺🇸
They're awesome, let me know what you think!

Awesome thank you! I think you'll be really impressed. My Nicks are an essential part of my day.
That dog is just cuteness overload.
She's a sweetheart!
Certainly showing how committed you are to RUclips with getting rid of the beard!! Respect.
One must suffer for their art! lol
No pain no gain.
Let’s imagine how mad your wife gonna be when she see that beard, lol
Hahaha dude she hated it. My kids didn't recognize me either!

Ray Ban also uses real glass.

Maui Jim Mavericks are pretty dang nice as well. Can' fly in them ironically because they are all polarized, but they really are nice.
With the Aviators and Handlebar Moustache you remind me of Joakim Broden of the heavy metal band Sabaton. Your videos are always entertaining and insightful. Keep up the good work.
Rock on! Thanks man!
These sunglasses have been in style for decades. I have a pair myself, and everyone saids I look good in them.

Thanks man! Yeah I was trying to channel my inner pro wrestler!
The Randolphs are the classic look , just ordered their aviators 24k with the blue combat blue lens .
I love my RE, they have a very good customer service and their warranty is highly recommended.
Thank you where are aos lens made?
Hey u should check out Sol Moscot Zulu and Shtarker , no offense but your glasses seem a bit small for you
I love my AO Navigators! Nice biker stache, Carl!
Right on!
Wow, you are committed to the craft! Also, I didn't know that stuff about Ray Ban. Cool.
It’s all good, luckily my beard grows quickly!
I literally found a pair of Randolph's like these while picking up barricades today. I only knew what they were because of Carl!
Fantastic video man. I needed a few brands to add to my list under sunglasses. I only had 4. Already rocking aviators, nice to have some more options!
Good stuff! Good sunglasses are a luxury most people think is a poor investment. I love the experience of clarity and comfort from a good pair.
Best glasses: gatorz eyeware. They may not be the most stylish, but they are truly terrific
The aviator titanium’s are incredible!
i own ao 57 mm glass skull but they slide down bridge of my nose. i guess nose pads need adjusting or maybe i need get them in 55 mm glass baynot or nylon versions
Heard a lot of good things about Randolph.
hi carl can you review a ship john wills jacket if you can get your hands on one
I have one on its way! I ended up snagging one back in March, so hopefully soon it will be here and I cant review it.
@@CarlMurawski cant wait to see it. ive already purchased too many goods with your gold stamp of approval. one more wont hurt?
Hahaha but one more turns into one more, and so on!
Randolph Engineering is terrific. Best hands down......if Liev Schriber can look good as Ray Donovan in them so can you!
Vintage bans are the best ! I wear nothing but 62mm Aviators
Yes! The old ones are fantastic if you can find them in good condition.
Yo Carl! You look like Joakim Broden from Sabaton... That's friggin' awesome!
Hahaha right on!!!
The Jade Black General is great. Love the kind of Elvis Presley look (I know his had a heavier custom frame) that aviators have.
Hell yeah man!

Planning on getting a pair of RE Yeager's before the summer. Hoping we get a summer😥🇮🇪

Love my vintage ray bans and my ao's
Vintage Ray Bans are the bomb!
love my aviators
Finally got a pair of RayBan Aviators with polarized prescription lenses. Only took me 50 years...
With that mustache, you should join your local V.F.D LOL
Hahahaha I got a letter from the police academy the very next day.
Or Judas Priest hahaha
Dude, you look so much slimmer without the beard! It's usually the other way around when guys shave the beard.

Cuteness of puppy gets canceled by less than attractive fu-man-chu. Time to start over Carl!
Hahahaha I hoped they'd balance out man!!!
I love my Randolph shades in rose gold. You forgot to mention they have a lot of women’s models too.
You're right! They do have a bunch of womens models too.
I would love to get a paid of these but man... I’m having a hard time justifying 200-300 on a pair of glasses I may lose, or the dog chews up. That much on boots or on a nice jacket? Sure, but glasses?

I totally understand man. I was a gas station sunglass guy until I tried some good shades. It's hard to imagine going back.
If you look you can find them cheaper than MSRP, depending on what style you want. Worth the full price though IMO.
Personally, I prefer club masters or soft round acrylics. Very cool history, though.
Fair enough! To each their own.
Have a pair of Randolph and a pair of the Costa 580 glass

That photo you put up for what original Ray Bans may have looked like are Wayfarers and were introduced in the 1950s. Not Aviators
why would you want to look like a 1970s cop that just walked off the set of a old porno?
I think someone is aroused. It's okay, don't be ashamed!
Not the beard!

Hahahaha thats the same look my kids had when I saw them after shaving.
Bro, your sunglasses arms are way stretched out, you need a larger size as you have a very large head.
Those aviators look at bit small on you.
