  • this ship handles a lot better than Dragon Bird despite having almost the same stats. it's also pretty beginner friendly since it's quite balanced, though the body feels a little weaker than expected.
i'll be doing the runs in the order the ships are in the menu since this game has no cues to know which ships are done and which aren't.
here's some information about this game that explains several things in the run:
angled driving: the reason it looks like i'm always driving at an angle is because strafing speed from L and R is added to your normal speed and this makes it overall faster. that means i hold one of these buttons at all times except in few instances were going straight is tricky.
blast turning: the reason i'm mashing the accelerator button a lot is because this is a tech called blast turning and that makes the ships turn much sharper and retain their grip. normally it isn't a problem like in the original F-Zero and MV but this game's sound design is garbage and the sound used here is very annoying.
difficulty setting and tracks: this game introduced a mechanic where the tracks themselves varied depending on the difficulty chosen. that means the tracks you play in novice and standard in the first 3 cups aren't the same as the ones in expert. for this reason i do the first 3 cups 2 times because technically they contain different tracks. the last cup has the same tracks in all difficulties.
also, this game's highest difficulty is Expert. there is no Master mode here and the Platinum Cup doesn't give you any continues in Expert which makes it more dangerous to run so i take the safest strats here.
this run was recorded from Wii U using the GBA VC version and i'm using Pixel Perfect mode which is why there's black bars on all sides.

Awesome!!! I really like to see that you're STILL going strong with F-Zero even after those years since I found your channel from the FZX EK tracks you made :)

Those might possibly be the highest quality sound effects I have ever heard in a GBA game...

i love how this game has a GP full of just the SNES tracks. Expert class, Platinum Cup. iv'e only played f-zero climax and velocity on the GBA, so i don't have GP legend, but it was nice to hear retro renditions of those tracks.
F-Zero Climax has a cup similar to that one, but the tracks all have remixes to them, like extra parts added on to the original track to make them feel longer.

I'm curious about why you're always tilted. Does it retain speed during turns better or just faster in general due to engine quirks

Yes. Madao mentioned a few of these techniques in the previous (within the information. e.g. Madao also explains the concept of "blast turning").

I wish this game was a bit more balanced. Black Bull and Fire Stingray are almost unplayable on certain tracks, such as Illusion and White Land (Flower). The Blue Falcon is arguably better than Dragonbird on some tracks due to the handling.

Stingray feels okay, but then you play any other machine and you remember what happiness feels like.
Black Bull is just WORTHLESS though. Just like in X, it just stands no chance, it might at well not be there.

in this game that lowers your dash plate speed. it's not beneficial in most tracks.

Why are all GP legend gameplays so annoying to watch?
Some are always drifting sideways, you're constantly tilted... ugh
