It makes me cry that these guys don't do any of the Formulas material besides Bil Ur Sag anymore.... this was the absolute height of Morbid Angel. Psychedelic brutality of the squiggliest kind.
After Dave got kicked out, when they were touring with Suffocation they played this. I moshed on a broken shoulder hard as I could. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug!
Pete's drumming on this album must've blown people away when this record in particular came out. Even with guys like Derek Roddy, George Kollias, Dave Suzuki, etc around now, I listen to this and am still like... damn.
In my high school days, when I was listening to this song with my earphones at my classroom, a class mate of female approached and asked me "what are you listening to?". I just passed my music player to her and let her listen to it, then she said So disgusting ! This song always reminds me of this story haha But this song is definitely a death metal master piece
I wonder the same thing! Flo Mounier is a highly praised drummer and he was releasing albums with Cryptopsy by this album came and what Pete was doing on this album was beyond his skills at the time. Granted they're two different drummers with two different styles, but still. Covenant of Death has some fast as fuck blasting.
@@joshpelton8068 the commenter said he was beyond Flo's abilities, which just isn't true. I will say Pete is a more precise drummer than Flo is, but Flo had outdone anything Pete ever did before or since by the time the first Cryptopsy album came out in 1994.
@@6.thedollar415 thanks for sharing your opinion. I find cryptopsy to be just this side of unlistenable. I don't like any death metal that is more extreme than Morbid angel or Deicide . When the emphasis went to being just speed and technique I felt the groove was lost.
@@joshpelton8068 it's not even an opinion. Flo IS faster and more technical than Sandoval, and Sandoval IS more precise. My *opinion* is that Flo is better overall, as I do enjoy Cryptopsy, but Pete shouldn't be discredited for being slower or less technical as he is (objectively) more influential than Flo, and had an album five years earlier.
beyond brutal tone that album has. the treys leads were also real psychadelic and i dug the drum tone commando had. fucking amazing and brutal. tuckers vocals were classic too. was blasting this all day today.
David Vincent is an absolute bore these days. He was great up until Domination. Steve Tucker and Erik Rutan should join...it would make the world a much better place!
OmniscientVirtuosity You make a very good point. The thing that I find to be really funny is that most people view this kind of music to be nothing but "noise". Very few people realize the raw talent it takes to play this music they have labeled as talentless noise. But hey... I guess not just anyone can be bruno mars. MORBID ANGEL - Otherworldly indeed!
Formulas Fatal to the Flesh is a massive improvement with a fatal failure that will cause it to not lead anywhere, this album shows guitarist Trey Azagthoth experimenting with previously unknown "studied" modes and scales in his solos and the development of a progressive heavy metal instinct in this band now that, through member changes and necessary administrative/public relations tasks, Azagthoth has become the decision-maker and his initial short list of targets is reduced.
O my god am I the first person to even comment on this video? WTF??? I don't get why nobody seems to care for fftf... I think this is just as good as any album they have!!! Different yes... But just as good... Did the singer miss a verse near the beginning of the song? I don't care this video rocks and Trey nailed his solo which don't happen too often either... Not that he ever does bad he just improvises and plays something not like the album but still great and in key a lot of the time...
Yeah. Vincent could destroy masterpieces like Heaving Earth, Summoning Redemption, Covenant Of Death, To The Victor The Spoil... This is better if ihe doesn't sing these songs.
It makes me cry that these guys don't do any of the Formulas material besides Bil Ur Sag anymore.... this was the absolute height of Morbid Angel. Psychedelic brutality of the squiggliest kind.
Maybe because Vincent simply CAN'T play these songs. Which is a shame that's my fav album too.
i feel you pain!!!
Gumbo72203 miracles do happen!
Gateways is their magnum opus, but Invocation and Heaving Earth are great tracks.
After Dave got kicked out, when they were touring with Suffocation they played this. I moshed on a broken shoulder hard as I could. Adrenaline is a hell of a drug!
Wild that they play a song like Heaving Earth LAST after an insane set
Pete's drumming on this album must've blown people away when this record in particular came out. Even with guys like Derek Roddy, George Kollias, Dave Suzuki, etc around now, I listen to this and am still like... damn.
Not only was the drumming awesome, but the production of the drums is still my favorite of all time (in death metal)
PETE IS THE BEST!!!!!
Roddy wasn’t til 97/ 2002, Kollias wasn’t til 2004/2005… Formulas is 1998
mario duplantier..?
Not only was he a better vocalist than David Vincent but also a better bass player I think.
to me this was the deepest album they ever made. hail to the continuual one.
FFttF is a really underrated album IMO.
Even faster than the album version God damn
Steve tucker era morbid angel was the best..
Tucker needs to come back. He was a beast in Morbid Angel far more aggressive than the new David Vincent.
The fan in the front makes Steve look so much more badass!
What style is more badass Steve bass no parallel to the ground head closely to the face other Dave three fingers technique ? Who is more badass ?
Possibly their best song IMO. It’s so unbelievably fast, the solo is pure magic, so deep, so beautiful.
awesome! One of my all-time favorite MA songs.
Thank you very much for sharing this concert...i really wanted to see this stuff live
Song is INSANE
Ways on the underground are perfect!
hombreperroleon not to be questioned by that of the brute
one of my fave MA tunes ever!
@Gospel969
Rutan.
Anderson didn't play guitar for MA. He was frontman for vocals and bass on a tour.

Thanks for loading up these videos.
I think the Formulas... Stuff works fine live.
Shame, they don't play it anymore.
MADNESS
Yeah Damn It, My Favorite Song from this album.

pete only blasted at a max of 260 on ffttf and flo was going 300+ easy by 1998 along with being far more technically proficient than pete
@@6.thedollar415 yeah? Well technique isn't everything and without Pete this flo probably wouldn't have been playing death metal.

Hahaha, Steve forgets the 2nd verse. Answer? Headbang like fuck!

I was there!!
David Vincent is an absolute bore these days. He was great up until Domination. Steve Tucker and Erik Rutan should join...it would make the world a much better place!
prophetic words my friend .. listen to the new morbid angel .. is the most brutal thing so far !!!
are you fucking kidding me with the solo, how the fuck did he do that thing at 3:10 +
It's crazy. It's not even a mere skill thing with him it's otherworldly. Serious
tbh its probally an effect created from all his unique amp settings
nead mich
its the Eventide harmonizer thingy... but it can be done with a whammy also... my point is that his ideas and execution are truly unique

+OmniscientVirtuosity actually it's just a high note with lots of delay. His harmonizer is not engaged at all in this solo.
A strong line up!
Some of the best tunes were created when Tucker/Rutan were in line-up. Too bad Vincent doesn't sing the Tucker era songs live.
badass
epic
oooooooooooooooooooooooooo
yo kisiera estar alli

Treys best!!!!!! Rutan too!!!!!
See my death metal band under vapid butchery... Live originals!!! No numetal bullshit this is true old school good shit...
Dave wouldn't be able to keep up anyway.
FFF forever!
Too bad the new album wont be anywhere near as good as this...Even Domination will still be better.
rutan?
yes man !!!
Tucker did / does a fantastic job and I prefer him to the 'new' David Vincent. However, Tucker will not be as good as the 'old' David Vincent
2:58
Wow now that I post my comment all the others pop up... I feel like a jackass now...
Adjust your stereo
Now this is morbid, real death meal.. evil..& wtf is up with the new morbid? Smh

Singer not feeling good at this gig or what?
He's way better than the first vocalist.
Heretic has a few really good songs, but i dislike the production, it sounds so thin...
Yeah. Vincent could destroy masterpieces like Heaving Earth, Summoning Redemption, Covenant Of Death, To The Victor The Spoil... This is better if ihe doesn't sing these songs.
He can't.
They played Bil Ur-Sag with David in the 2012~ tours and he didn't bother to learn the lyrics at all.
