@knifecenter DCA: You should do a segment or FAQ on popular/successful designers, who they are, and what makes their knives unique. I didn't realize until this video that I actually have a bunch of Ostap Hel designed knives, and that many of them are among my most used and well-liked. I've always just bought knives that appeal to me without paying attention to the designers. Now I'm paying attention.

That SRM is interesting, but I'd really like to know what the steels are in the blade. One source says the center section is 140Cr, a high hardness / low corrosion resistance tool steel. Oh, and the one thing that Sencuts are missing that Civivi have always had is a D-shaped pivot barrel. It's annoying to have to open knives like that.

I've been carrying the black blade/blackG10 handle with anodized blue liner variant for a couple years as my work EDC and at $42 it's such a great knife in every way. Loved it so much I picked up the black ebony wood/satin blade variant too.The only other knife in my collection that edges it out for big bang for little buck is my Sanrenmu 1006. How they made such a beefy high quality chunk knife for just $31 is beyond me.

I know it's not sold by KnifeCenter, but the $10 Ozark Trail D2 knife is a pretty spectacular deal for what it is. My favorite beater budget EDC though is the CRKT M16 01KS (framelock, all steel handles) or the 01-KZ (double lock and zytel non-slip handles). Both in 8CR and hella easy to maintain due to having a flathead pivot screw and jimping on the screw, the latter which allows you to use your freaking thumb to adjust the pivot IF NEEDED!

Correct me if I'm wrong, DCA, but isn't the Kizer Mini-Grouper the second attempt to bring the "Compression" style top liner lock to the budget arena? Vosteed has the more expensive RSKOAS and Psyop lines with it at $250, but they also have the same style lock on the more budget-minded Raccoon model for $65. I know their production has been a bit off with most of those knives, but I also know that at least a few actually hit the market because I saw Seth advertise the top-liner lock version of the Raccoon on your May 2nd New Knives video and bought one from you on May 3rd. I'm sad to see the exact model I bought now says it's discontinued (green micarta, black-coated blade) but the satin-bladed version as well as several other colors of micarta handles are available even though they're delayed. At least a few inexpensive top-liner lock Raccoons went out, because I was luck enough to have gotten one. Vosteed's action on the Raccoon is as smooth as that on Kizer's mini-Grouper.

Hey DCA, Thomas, and or Seth; question is for anyone to answer. I’ve always liked the looks and benefits of a partially serrated blade but I’m unaware or the best methods to resharpen the blade. I assume there’s different methods just based on differences in serrated “shapes”. Kershaw has cool but very different serrated teeth compared to benchmade or spyderco, or even microtech. How would you resharpen these different teeth and could you strop them? Do serrations get burrs like plain edged blades? Thx

Look the days of Benchmade and so many others is gone. I will put my cold steel recon or srt lite up against any folder out there. I have more deployments around the world than most. The best knife is almost always the simplistic and robust. I would rather a lot of good steel than a little of great steel. I would rather have a simply handle and working mechanism than a cool complicated one. This guy gets it

Can you please do a video on folders with full convex grinds and secondary convex’s? It’s extremely hard to find folders with full convex or secondary convex and from my experience the convex edge has the best geometry for a very tough edge along with extremely edge retention over flat or hollows. As far as I am aware only Rockstead (out of almost everyone’s budget, the fallkniven plx I believe also very expensive and the svord peasant knife are the only one, the peasant is pretty much the only one that’s affordable and I would be comfortable using it for all knife tasks but it’s a slip joint, lacks a pocket clip and is kinda larger, and the legendary opinel is fragile and not designed for anything other than light slicing tasks and they kind of lock but also lack a pocket clip, the rocksteads are works of art and they are the sharpest out the box knives I’ve ever seen, starting at 1k puts it out of the user category, the fallkniven is also a work of art at I think they start at like 400, and they lack a clip and they might be a liner lock but again not many of us would use for daily edc or light outdoor tasks. Please help us with your extensive knowledge and great wisdom, if you could please show us some more options that would be awesome.

For example the Fox Radius with Damascus sells on KC’s website for well over $1000 but BHQ has it for several hundred dollars less. What’s up with that? To be fair though KC does beat BHQ on some products but usually only by a few dollars here and there, so do your research.

I still think Mora (Mora over really anything) really does the best... they are not made in China (not that I'm saying anything bad quality wise but let's be honest much of the time there are made with unfair practices... either poor wages or stealing designs outright). They are incredibly affordable and elevate up quite a bit. I think it would be wild if they slimmed a handle down slightly and made one of their knives into a pocket fixed blade. But overall... you do not find much in the way of higher American quality for under $100. I love my Case... but I do believe that Buck beats them on overall quality for the price.

The blade on that SRM would look really great - but why on earth do they put all those letters on it?!? Nobody cares, put the info on the box and keep the knife CLEAN, please!

The reversible pocket clip on that SRM is a fantastic innovation! All clips should work that way.

This is probably the most interesting and exciting knife market segment atm. The quality and 'bang for your buck' you can get these days is remarkable. I purchased the Sylph, along with a few other Real Steel knifes, to say I'm impressed with the value would be an understatement. But price aside, they're great knives, especially the folded/integral range imo.
To dismiss a knife purely on where it's manufactured closes you off to some pretty amazing knives. Sure, you can justify your decision as a "patriotic" one, but to claim Chinese knives are inferior is cope, and it's just wrong.

All these Awesome Designs with Good Fit and Finishes and Decent Budget Steels , so can China now work on the Tolerances of their blades so they can get away from these Bearings and start using Washers again. Whenever I hear Bearings I think Cheap Chinese knives that are just thrown together , after about 12yrs of Bearings can they make a Drop Shutty knife with Washers ???

never a good sign when KC is doing a budget video - sales are slumping - those $500 plus Chinesium flippers aren't selling - groceries and gas too much -> vote left, and the budget knives will be too much.
