I like how unique that the Metroliner Cab Car was used only on Sundays, leading the Northeast Regional 121 and trailing on 122. I was about to catch it, but my last train to catch is 2256 Acela to Boston. I’ll come back there any month.
Okay you must be talking about the train that pulls in about the 5:10 mark in the video? I was wondering what was up with that train as it certainly didn't look like a standard Keystone train that the Metroliner Cab Cars usually lead. So they lead one Regional train a week? Very interesting. I love those old Cab Cars!
metroliner cars have aged extremely well. they still look good and arent tattered on the inside. i was on VIA rail from montreal to quebec and that much newer train looked like it had a much harder life.
Nice footage. It just so happens that I saw that massive 11 car train led by a Metroliner pulling out of Sunnyside earlier today. Was that a Regional, Keystone, EQ Move or some sort of charter train?
@@FanRailer I suppose all Sunday Regionals have Metroliner cabs in that case? Why that specific train instead of all other regionals, and why bring so many cars down to DC? (Not enough Metroliner cabs, maybe?)
Only this specific consist turn uses the Cab Car. 121/122. It has an extremely short turnaround time in DC; no time to wye the train as they would traditionally do. Ridership on this train is comparatively high. They started off running it as a 7-car consist and soon expanded it to 11-cars.
Never have I ever seen an Amtrak train that’s eleven cars long being led by a cab car.😮
I’m pretty sure most of the cars were just being moved

@@adamm2837 Only Sunday’s. Northeast Regional 121 New York to Washington DC and back on 122

Cool video. I captured an Amtrak this afternoon between Elizabethtown and Mt. Joy Late this afternoon. Nice captures.
Glad to see PJC is doing well. I miss being able to visit there on a daily basis.
Awesome catches! Hopefully Friday rains and I can railfan in the snow!
1:12 Godly sound on departure
You mean 1:07-1:08.
I was on Keystone 661 yesterday! we passed here around 7:45am
Nice
3:45 well that’s an interesting consist
I was there today !!!
Still got it going with the Northeast Corridor 😎

@@FanRailer Wow, I never knew that. Thanks for the explanation of this oddity in NEC railroading.
I was out the 17th
That's an Amtrak train who has an 11-coach train with a cab car
Nice vid, Is the train at 4:57 supposed to be Amtrak 121?
Yes
wow 667 needs a wash
Was that New Jersey transit train a rescue or was it an equipment move?
Equipment move, Morrisville to MMC
Was this only to be Amtrak no NJT at all
@5:13 - Is that a Regional using a cab car? Is this something Amtrak started during the pandemic? Imagine it must be easier with fewer trains running?
It’s just this one train. 121/122. The consist makes a relatively short turn in DC.
5:11 an 11 car revenue train with a cab car leading??????
Is this Lakeshore Limited silver meteor or silver star ? 7:42
The lakeshore doesn’t even go this way…
@@FanRailer wait is it crescent
Locomotive 667 looks so dirty and could really use a washdown
5:15 i dont think i seen a Keystone that long, EVER
That's a Regional.
ok that sounds more reasonable
@@FanRailer ok that sounds more reasonable.
@@FanRailer why would a regional use a cab car
Why was that one keystone so long?
That’s a regional
@@FanRailer wow interesting
3:14 I know that those locomotives are powerful, but why did he have the thing at full throttle? Lol.
... why wouldn't you have it in notch 8?
